I've seen a 1/2 carat round in a double halo and loved it. So I think these would be a good size. Honestly if you get too big then I think the ring begins to overwhelm a hand, but I also have small fingers so I am biased towards smaller stones.

Though getting a good idea of the measurements of what was seen in Tiffany would be wise before deciding for sure. Or at least getting the estimated depth. That way you can compare to make sure they don't' cut their diamonds too shallow which would make them seem larger.

I haven't had much luck finding FLY with a colorless halo. I'll look more but not a lot of places that sell colored diamonds also sell them set. I'll keep looking but I found this one

ETA: I've found Y-Z set in halos if you are interested. One of my favorites was an E-W oval seet by Leon Mege
http://www.jewelsbyericagrace.com/modern_and_estate_jewelry_page_2

I really love this ring by DBL

http://rockdiamond.com/index.php/je...-cut-fancy-yellow-vs1-gia-a-rare-beauty-r3695

That Oval is my favorite, too. I considered purchasing it, but the ring size is too small and they won't be able to adjust the ring size that big (and of course this ring will overwhelm my ER)
I love that emerald ring too. I wish I had the budget for something like that. But then again my own sunshine piece is .93ct so I don't want to go bigger in a lighter color on my right hand either. So I get the need to balance other rings with engagement ring.

I know whoever winds up with that oval will be thrilled. If I had money and looking to replace my radiant, that would be lovely. I think it'd only need to go up a quarter of a size or so since I'd wear it alone. Probably doable.

Ah to dream

That's great to know, I know you have a halo ring by Leon how did the ring you saw compare to what you have?

it's not a leon... but it is comparable... i think dbl has found the right bench jeweler to do their delicate halos... something they didn't have a year or two ago... if you're ever in nyc area, drop by and check it out... have you seen leon's micro pave in person?

That's a good news! I have some micropave bands from Leon. Love your pink diamond halo! It sure is a gorgeous piece!

3588 is my favorite of the three side by side. But I also really like 3663 as well.

This one popped up today in my search for a FLY halo http://rockdiamond.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-diamond-138ct-fancy-light-yellow-vs2-radiant-diamond-lemon-sparkle-r3281

I still am not having much luck otherwise.

So which is your favorite?

I was thinking between 3793 & 3663, 3588 is a little too strong of a color for me....
3663 is FLY and about 1crt, which I like the size. 3793 is .79 but has good face up size and nice color. I was leaning towards 3793 because it is much cheaper, there is another stone 1.21 FLY I am considering which is not on the site yet.....

You don't like 3793? I would love to know why you don't care for it! ;))

I love 3588. It has the perfect shape for a halo, I think. I don't like really deep yellows, but this one is nice to me.

r3588 is a very pretty stone to my eyes, too. But me and David sort of agreed that for the ring I'm trying to make, a little rectangular shape will look better. So I think square stones are out. I don't know, the square stone will look great for a single halo, but IMHO rectangular will look better in double halo.

Originally I dismissed 3793 because I had it in my head that the Tiffany ring was more square.

Looking again Tiffany's stones are definitely rectangular. So that's why I tossed it out, but now looking at the listing and everything, that is one kicking stone!

A nice Fancy Yellow (even though a strong one, not as intense as some). It has very similar proportions to my radiant and I think that is a fantastic shape over all.

3663 is nice, but I think it might be the wrong shape.

Do tell more about the 1.21! I like that one as well (you said it was the lighter one in the non labeled pic right?)

That is a great stone-really lovely!!! I am glad you got in contact with David-he is great to work with, I currently own 6 rings and a few other goodies from David and have always been super happy with the quality of DBL's work and I am really loving all the delicate halos that he's been making lately! Good luck with your current project-so excited to see the finished ring :)

Sounds lovely. The size looks nice too! How strong of a FLY is the stone? I really like the shape of that stone as well. I would trust David to set it to maximize the color as well.

I don't know, David is taking a pic of 1.21 & .79 together so we will see. The pic above of 1.21 is with intense yellow....

It is hard compare next to a much stronger color like that. I can't wait to see the two side by side :)

Here's a side by side pic of .79 FY and 1.21FLY.

What do you think?

Wow that's tough. Really it's tough from these photos. The size of the 1.21 looks very nice.

Gosh I really don't know which I'd pick. Is the 1.21 "clean" enough for your standards? My .93 Y-Z is an SI1 and totally eye clean as well but I thought I'd ask.

I envy you doing this project, but I don't envy your decision.
