DS, woman, you are just insano. ''Oh 7.2 may be too small and 7.6 may be too big so maybe 7.4mm would be good''. How long has it taken you to get this far?????? Are you really thinking of haggling over .2mm?

Save us all! Buy the 1.63!
31.gif
It shrinks.
How is it that you take my thoughts and put them down before I even get a chance to decide how to word them LOL

I have to say I''m so glad I''m not as OCD as you. The 1.63 is stunning
30.gif
30.gif
30.gif
If it were me I''d jump on it (although if it were me I''d be looking at a different clarity range than you
2.gif
). .2mm is slight. If someone thinks 1.6 is big they are also going to think 1.4, 1.5 is big LOL This diamond is for you hun NOT anyone else. So thoughts of what people around you are thinking or feeling about how big or not big the ring is shouldn''t be a deciding factor for you. It should be the love of your stone that is the deciding factor. Good luck. It''s been a long ride so I can''t wait to see how it turns out.

As a side note, I have a 5.25 finger as well and wear a .92 with an eternity band. Now my eternity band is channel set and is 1ct total weight. With a smaller stone center stone than what you are considering I set my stone higher to make it appear larger and my bands are equally the same size. Perfect compliment. I have a 3mm which I thought was going to be too big but in reality when I tried on the 2mm and 2.5 mm I thought they were too small. Good luck in whatever way you go!

DS-- I remember twenty. I remember being stressed about standing out... doing something different and ''me'' as opposed to following the convention. You grow out of it. I wouldn''t worry about your daughter... and meanwhile... start photographing those furbabies woman! LOL.

Hey ds! How bout those baubles??!
9.gif

OK, just my .o2. Because I am SO not a size whore, I really believe I like the 1.37. But that's just me.

Having said that, and since I'm not gonna wear it
2.gif
, I'd say for you, going from a 1 ct. to one of these, you will probably notice more with the 1.6. And the whole point, well, most of it is to get a diamond that looks different from your old one, right? So, I'd agree with the consensus that you should get the bigger one.
36.gif

My 1.4 was enough of a jump from my old .30 ish, so I honestly didn't need/want anymore.

I was really interested in your comparison of the two on looks other than size, and am happy to hear your observations. It confirms what I already thought.
2.gif

As for how the color looks, remember, household lights (almost all) are tinted yellow, hence making your diamond appear yellow as well. I freaked when I first got my new G, for the same reason, til I realized what was going on.

Be sure and take them on field trips, under as many lighting circumstances as possible. Especially if you have a store with open fluorescent lighting.
30.gif

And keep us updated!

Another vote for the larger rock
31.gif

Small, thanks for the info about ring sizes. It helps to have that perspective since your ring size and eternity band are the same as mine! I''ll go back and find your pictures afterwhile.

Ellen, I wondered what you''d say! I am glad you are open to either and agree with the idea of the 1.0 to 1.6 jump! You actually made a bigger jump going from .30 to 1.4! That must have taken some getting used to!

I went a little while ago to show the diamonds to my one friend who loves jewelry, and can you imagine which one she chose?
The 1.6, duh! However, for a minute she had one on and I had the other on, and I forgot which was which! We did have to look at both to remember, so they aren''t that drastically different. WE had them in all kinds of light, lamp, flurescent, sun, and daylight without sun, and they both looked beautiful! So the vote is now 999 to 1 (my 20 yr. old)!

My husband just got home so I''ll show them to him once he changes clothes! His vote counts most!

I am wearing the 1.63 around waiting for it to shrink a little.
2.gif
My daughter has a Canon PowerShot A510 which is very similar to Demleza''s A520. I just need a few lessons on how to do the macro shots! I can see the hearts and arrows with a loupe and with the H&A viewer than Jon sent. They are both beautiful and perfect! I can''t see any inclusions, so they pass my mind-clean test!
DS
that is an easy choice. go with the 1.63ct.

I''m adjusting nicely.

Can''t wait to hear what hubby says, although I think I already know.
2.gif

Gypsy, I posted my furbabies in Hangout (2 cats, 2 dogs!)! I only took one shot of each since I'm on my diamond viewing countdown! So the pictures aren't great, but I'll try to get more later. I told Jon I'd return the stones tomorrow so the one not selected won't be out of circulation too long!

Okay, my husband says, they look just alike, except one is a tiny bit bigger than the other. Then he says..which one do you like best? I told him I wanted to have the one he wanted to get me..(Cop out) But he wants me to have the one I like best. Ugh! Of course, I predicted that whole conversation! I should tell him I've decided on Isabel's potentil 4 ct. asscher instead. That might get a reaction!

I knew that''s what he''d say. Get the big one. He doesn''t care about the price, so....

And besides, if you picked the smaller one, I think you''d have everyone on this thread but me hunting you down.
9.gif

So ya think there''s just a liiiiittle peer pressure here, huh, Ellen?
2.gif

Don't want to talk you into it (loved your cats, replied in thread). Don't want to pressure you. But think of this... just for a minute. If you send them both back and tell Jon you don't want either... would regret it if the 1.63 was sold on Friday and no longer available. Or would feel relieved because now you can just look for a 1.5 ish stone?

(BTW I agree with whoever said that a .2 quibble is relatively minor).

ETA: Also I think the fact that you and your friend-- when the stones were separated-- couldn't tell one from the other is HIGHLY significant.

I think the 1.6 isn't MIND CLEAN for you. For whatever reason. That's the big issue, IMO. Not the .2 mm difference between this stone and the as-yet-not found 1.5.

I feel like the 1.63 is as close to perfect (meaning my parameters, of course) as I can get (I think Storm would say the numbers are kicken!). So my tendency at this point is to lean toward not letting someone else have the opportunity to buy it! I''m just not sure it would be worth the wait to find a 1.5 with very excellent numbers, a high H color, and VS1. By then the prices could go up and I''d pay what I''d be paying for this stone. And if I just couldn''t develop DSS and think this stone is the right size, I''m sure Jon would let me trade up to an F or G 1.5 and I could probably use the same setting. But honestly, if I make the decision to keep it, it will be because it is gorgeous and the stone for me, and I doubt I''ll ever trade it for any reason. That is my intent.
1.gif

Sorry to chime in so late (amazing how an unexpected emergency root canal can throw you off your PSing for the day!) but seriously DS, I think you should go for the 1.63. You said a few posts ago that when you separated the two you couldn''t tell which was which, so really the 1.63 is not "too big" or which one it was would have jumped right out at you. And that way DSS is less likely to set in later!

Yay!!!!

DeeJay, you poor thing! Yikes! A root canal! Thanks for checking in and I hope your mouth feels much better!!!

Lisa, that's my "almost" decision...I'm going to sleep on it, but even my mother has now voted (by email) for the 1.63!

35.gif
Hi, Jonathan, if you're reading this! I was sooo busy today that I didn't have time to email you multiple times!
2.gif
Boy, learning all about digital photography by trial and error after a 2 minute lesson last night and diamond gazing has really occupied my day! You sure did send me two pretty diamonds! Did you say something about a "buy one get one free" special today? I was thinking maybe you did...the 1.37 would look really good in a pendant

Pressure? What pressure?
9.gif

I am a little surprised you''re sending them back so fast, don''tcha wanna keep them just a few days? to mull it over, and compare. I just worry you''re not giving yourself enough time with them...

And just my .02 again, I would not advise holding out for a 1.5. You can barely tell the difference between these two, so imagine how the 1.5 would look. Just like both of these.
2.gif

Ellen,

Jon held the 1.63 all last week for me while we waited for the 1.37 to arrive. Then when I came back into town, I wired the money for both stones. So if I send them back tomorrow, the 1.63 will have been out of availability for two weeks. Of course, if we end up buying it, it won''t really matter! The problem is that GOG is closed on Sun. and Mon., so if I don''t get it back there on Friday, it''ll be next Tuesday before they''d get them back. And I might be nervous to keep uninsured stones here for that long, too!

Haha, Mrs DJ! I was honestly thinking of you when I wrote Jonathan that little note in pink a few posts above! You''re rubbing off on me!

Hey girl,
35.gif

I was out running errands most of the day so I've been away from my email most of the day but jumped on here from home to browse briefly.

You get a good night sleep, and sleep on this. Bottom line is I want you to be happy with your decision. Always keep in mind that even after you decide you have 30 days to change your mind and the rest of your life should you ever want to trade up or sell back.
41.gif
Whenever I am personally making a big decision like this, even after I think I know what it is I want, I make it a point to pray and sleep on it and see if I feel the same way in the morning. If I have total peace about it only then do I move forward. I would suggest the same dear.

LOL... reading some of the posts here had me cracking up. Mara you are too funny!
9.gif
I see majority vote is for the 1.63ct but do what you feel will be best for you. Regardless of my vote (which you already know) you're the one who will be wearing it everyday and I want you to get what you are most happy and comfortable with as only you can answer that for yourself. I'll be up at the store tomorrow from 12-9pm so if you want to email or call me or have any questions/concerns I am here for you ds.

Wow ... our journey has almost ended. I'll miss our email conversations.

Warmest regards,
Jonathan

[edited to add] If you need a little extra time with the stones, by no means do I want you to feel rushed. Even though we are on vacation from the 15th through the 22nd my internet staff will be on hand to assist and help if you need a little more time.

Jonathan,

I''ll definitely do as you suggest! I''ll email you tomorrow close to noon so we can decide what to do! We''ll have to figure out what to do about getting the diamond set (if I choose one of these) with you being on vacation next week, among other things. Talk to you tomorrow! And thanks again!

ohhh...I admit I do apply some pressure BUT I saw your face at Tiffany''s. You *secretly* love 1.5+ diamonds (I just know it!) and I want you to be happy of course!

It shrinks.
True that!!!
9.gif
I third it! No contest Seeks - get the 1.63 - it WILL shrink
11.gif
It looks PERFECT, substantial yet graceful on your hand. Even in a temp setting, it will look smaller when set!
12.gif

Well? *tapping fingers on desk*
5.gif

DS, both are beautiful, but the 1.63 looks especially stunning! =)

Well, I did not see your face at Tiffany's... so I have nothing to back this up, but....

I secretly think you secretly WANT the 1.63 !

Or why would you have even inclued it in your search?

The parameters we set for ourselves contain the range of what really is OK.

Ooops... SORRY to pressure you!!

a bit off topic, but your search has kept my interest because I am also a secret budding size-lover.

My return period ends in 2 weeks on my AGS0 G 1.20.

This means I can go back and exchange it one more time and I will only pay sales tax on the delta.
If I wait a year or two, I'll get full credit for what I paid towards a new diamond, but I will also be charged the entire sales tax amount.

So, even though I am very happy with my G 1.20, I look at yours and realize i can go up a bit , too.

Well, whatever you decide..... keep us posted!

Haha, db! I just have a second because I am tutoring a little boy and have just a quick break, but I think if you go up, then I will, too! How''s that?!! You were so happy with your 1.20 that I was thinking I should certainly be content with a 1.37! (No pressure though!
11.gif
)

So did you have a revelation in the night DS? Inquiring minds want to know! Does your last comment mean you are ready to pick the big one???

Hi, I love the bigger one, love the size and love it with your wedding band.
And I love that it showed up as a G!!! Between the two, can you notice any difference as far as brilliance or fire? Does one call out to you more or do they seem the same, just one is larger than the other.

If they seem the same, then I would get the larger one. If the smaller one seems brighter, more sparkly, appeals to your heart more, then get that one.

As far as the difference in size, even though it is .26 only, I do notice it when they are placed next to each other.
