Hi,

My wife and I have our 10th anniversary coming up in June and Ive started a search for a gift. While Im not set 100% on a ring, Ive really come to like the 5-stone rings, particularly the trellis styles offered by BGD and WF (thanks to this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-5-stone-ring-thread.134007/ ).

Im still open to any other suggestions, I will mention my wife is modest/conservative and has mentioned she doesn't like huge or guady, while of course still loving diamonds. She would lose studs, and our kids have a tendency to rip off necklaces lol, so a right hand ring would likely get the most use. If anyone thinks its relevant, here current wedding set is a white gold channel set with a .75 ct D, VS1 Ideal Princess.

I priced out the WF and the BGD with 'equivalent' f-g, vs .25 "true hearts" stones in the 18k setting and the BGD one is over a grand more.
I tend to like the subtle differences of the BGD over the WF, but not for that price difference. Am I missing something?
Thanks

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

Did you ask BGD why they are $1,000 more? what the difference is with the WF 5-stone? I'm curious to understand why myself.

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

The trellis on both is similar, the only difference in style is where the trellis transitions into the band, the BGD has a bit more metal there. From the picture ive seen here from users, the WF might be a taller ring, but its hard to tell since people put in many different size stones.

I talked BGD, asked about the price difference and they said it was since i get to pick the stones with pictures.

As a wife, I'd be   :appl: :appl: my DH if he got me the gorgeous WF AND saved over a grand in the process! The slight difference in design is not worth it (IMHO), and WF's ACA melee - :appl: :appl:    :lickout: :lickout: - it will be a stunning right hand ring!

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

I just bought a trellis ring from WF and had considered one from BGD as well. I actually preferred the details in the BGD ring design over the WF design (something about the way the trellis overlaps), but I had experience purchasing from both BGD and WF before and vastly preferred my WF experience. I have no regrets about purchasing from WF again -- I absolutely adore the look of my trellis ring (and have actually been wearing it on my left hand instead of my solitaire and wedding band), and their customer service has been perfection. So, with that said, I think the answer is pretty clear: save the money and get the WF ring!

That is a beautiful ring, i do love the graduated look as well. Might be out of my price range with the large stones. Tempting

Why unplated white gold?

Why unplated white gold?

I love the creamy color of the unplated white gold. I had an antique style art deco ring made for my mother recently that was unplated white gold, and I just love the effect. It seems like it's kind of trendy on PS; I know it's yssie's favorite type of metal:

Re: graduated look -- what size ring does your wife wear? I was helping champagnepear with sizing for a five-stone on this thread:

I think her budget is around yours (or lower). This is what I said on that thread:

I wear a size 4.25, and I feel like I could have gone smaller in stone size, as well as more drastic difference in size between the center stone and the side stones. Mine were the following measurements:

- Center: 0.823 ct G VS2 - 6 mm
- 2 next to center: 0.4 ct H SI1 - 4.75 mm each
- 2 on end: 0.25 ct F/G melee - 4 mm each

I adore my ring, but if I had to re-design and save money, I would try to keep the center stone the same size and just reduce the size of the side stones.

What if you did something like 0.6 ct, 0.25 ct x2, and 0.15 ct x2? That would still bring you to 1.4 ctw.

If you're talking to Whiteflash, you can let them know what your budget is and have the price you out a graduated five-stone if you're interested in the look. I worked with Becca on the sizing for the stones, since I didn't want to go over a certain price point, and she was super helpful with suggestions for that.

She wears about 7.5. Budget is around $4k, but less would be ok since it means more money for the trip we plan on taking

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

You might want to draw out the actual dimensions like Niel did in this post, which I found helpful when I was designing my ring:

Truthfully, I think you should just talk to Becca at WF about your ideas. She can tell you what she thinks would look best on a 7.5 finger within your budget.

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

kenneyd, I can't find it right now, but there was a thread where someone showed off a 7-stone on a 7.5 finger, and I thought it was a great amount of coverage. What if you ask Whiteflash for pricing on a 7-stone ring? Wouldn't be graduated, but I think it would be pretty blingy (in a good way)...

i like the idea of a 7 stone ring as well for that finger size. lots of bling without being too flashy. WF has a few custom trellis 7 stone rings that are really lovely.

Great find, farrahlyn! I love that graduated 7-stone trellis.

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been emailing Brittney at WF back and forth working out details

Glad to hear it! Can't wait to see the final product. [emoji3]

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

Basically I got it narrowed down to two, they are both roughly the same price.

The default 5 stone trellis with 5x .25ct stones

Or a graduated 2x .15ct 2x .20ct and a center .38ct (4.6mm)

Im kinda leaning toward the default since its returnable

I again appreciate all the pictures and help guys.

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

Default trellis gets my vote!

Re: Trellis 5-stone anniversary ring. Brian Gavin VS whitef

Personally, I like the default trellis (same stone size across) myself over the graduated setting. I just like the simplicity of the straight line.

Nonetheless, she will be so happy with a WF ACA ring, it will be gorgeous, and what a nice hubby you are! :appl: :appl:
