I was seriously starting to wonder if it was just one of those "buy a red car, see red cars everywhere" thing. I have been loving tapered carre/trapezoid side stones for a couple years now, and it seemed like they'd exploded around here!

Yes, Yssie, this thread was a great idea! Very helpful too for someone thinking of having a ring like this done.

Pretty, pretty rings ladies!!

I am gobsmacked! I LOVE these rings and seeing them all in one place is enough to make me need an oxygen mask! Many thanks to you Yssie for taking the time to create this thread!

Great idea, Yssie! And this is making me think my anniversary gift this year needs to be a 2mm band with french cuts! The dilemma would be, which one to make it???

As I look at these more closely, I am wondering if French cuts and carre cuts are two different things. Because when I look at lovestreet's ring and hospatogi's, the facet patterns look totally different to me.

Great idea for a thread Yssie! I hadn't seen some of the rings you posted before! I do agree that it does seem to be the 2011 trend!

If you will excuse me....I need a moment to myself after those photos. And maybe a cigarette, even though I don't smoke.

Yes traditional french cuts and carre cuts are different however it can be confusing because carre cut stones are sometimes referred to as french cuts. Carre cuts are actually step cuts that eventually turned into what we now call asscher cut stones. French cut stones eventually became what we know as princess cut stones.
