I'd take an M or under over a colorless any day of the week.

Completely stunning rings, ladies!

Sarahbear! Thank you for starting this thread!!! I've been considering a lower colored stone for my upgrade and it really helps to have a thread to reference back to.

I know exactly what you mean. It is/ was scarey going from a D all the way to an O/P for me. If you look at my Venice thread you will see photos of the 2 diamonds next to each other which also might help you. Ultiimately it was really looking at LoveStreets and Haven's ring that made me decide that I really love the lowered colored diamonds. I'm more vintage then modern so they just called to me. I think once you see these diamonds in person you just know if you love them or not.

I currently have an F and in some lights it looks a bit yellow, not much but to me it's definitely noticeable. I agree, I'll have to see the stones in person and I will when the time comes. I still appreciate this thread and your ring is beyond gorgeous!

This thread makes me really impatient towards getting my N set already! My jeweller decided to take a vacation in the middle of desigining though. I will share once it's set, which hopefully should be soon!

So, I am still deciding between 3 stones. Well, really 2, but the third is lovely too!

Anyway, I know how hard it is to picture the lower colors since many of us have not seen them in real life and shipping stones back and forth can be crazy and costly. So, I thought I would share the three stones I have with me this weekend in order to highlight the lower colors you often find in old cuts. I also thought it might be interesting to see the different table sizes.

They are all OECs of a similar make. Whenever you see the three together they will be from left to right or top to bottom as follows:
1. 2.71 ct. O/P (my appraiser GIA certified), SI1/2, Table 47%, 8.8 mm spread
2. 3.33 ct. M EGL (my appraiser said M/N), VS1, Table 52%, 9.4 mm spread
3. 2.66 ct. K EGL, VS1, Table 50%, 8.9 mm spread

I love this thread! You all have such amazing stones!

Here's my new baby, making her PS debut. She's a GIA certed 2.42ct M VS2 from OWD. Currently back at OWD getting set in a temp setting until I can figure out a forever home for her.

SS- Gorgeous OEC!!!!!!! I love working with Adam and I love his eye for old cuts! Hooray for another Old cut lover!

Libby- I love the "halo/ bezel" look on that ring. It makes the color pop just a bit which I think just looks romantic- swoon!

Sarahbear - Thanks! Yes, Adam has been fantastic to work with!

arkieb - Lol, I think the photos are deceiving. My finger is a size 4, but those temp stone holder things are set SO high, it makes stones appear ginormous! :wink2: Thank you!

pandabee - Haha, ok, twist my arm. :naughty: I should have the ring late next week!

I've been thinking about a diamond with a bit more color - partly to keep cost down on a larger stone and partly because I like the warmer, old fashioned look. Seeing all of your beautiful stones makes me want to explore the idea more. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I put mine in here. It's not certed (yet) but the general consensus is somewhere near M, so I hope it's ok to play here...

There are a lot more M and under stones on PS than there were when I signed up!
Finally I am free of the shame - lol!
The center stone of my e-ring is an M (strong fluorescence) VS2 transitional according to Ted Baer. The side stones are I-J VS1-VS2 according to Mr. Baer.

I also love this thread!! I think I am losing it, I love the M colored diamonds!!! (I thought I wanted as white as possible, but now I think M would be great cause they have personality, can someone explain this crazy thinking??)
