Well, I finally did it!
I now have a diamond of my very own.

0.76 D VS1 sporting a 40.6/34.8/54 combo with a nice puffy 16% crown height!

Just gave it the full assessment and everything is primo - transparency is great, ASET result is as perfect as can be, and wow what a fire breather.
Sorry for the bad picture quality...my cell phone isn't exactly up to the task and was struggling to focus on the diamond.
I'll try to get some ASET Scope pictures taken and will post them later.

Note: the "76" in the carat weight has a deep family meaning: mine is a 0.76 and my wife's is a 2.76

On to the pictures and videos!!!

I was waiting for diamond pics! What a sparkler! I can't wait to see it set. Any inspiration pics? Congrats on finding the perfect diamond. :)

Thank you, LLS!
I do have a handful of men's diamond rings saved to my phone for design inspiration, but still not sure what direction to go. So many routes!
Although these two seem to be standing out the most so far.
I'd like to keep the width at 8-9mm then have the diamond centered.

Congrats looking forward to ring pics!!!

I know there are better out there, but probably not for the price point this one fell on.

Took some ASET Scope pictures...such a PITA, but this is about the best I could do with the craptastic equipment that I have

YAY!! I can't wait to see the end result. Congrats

I am loving number 2 as a design! Metal choice?

Door # 2. Where's kenny when we need him?

I definitely have open ears and eyes to advice and suggestions!

Not entirely sure yet... probably platinum, maybe high grade 316L stainless steel (I've inherited some sensitivity and allergies to some metals).

Love the stone and the design(s)! Congratulations! Can't wait to see the end-result!

If you find someone who works creatively with hard metals, please post. Family member has a similar situation and it seems like working those metals is too challenging. I know Hemmerle does unique stuff with cool alloys (and not necessarily super-tough ones) but that's out of my league. We have been gravitating to Pd WG because even Pt is out, sadly. And Ti, W, and Zr seem too hard and/or brittle to do much with (?).

Wow!! All my favorite things: sentimental/meaningful carat weight, D color, high crown, 54% table, fat arrows, perfect light return! This is wonderful, Congratulations, can’t wait to see your diamond set!

Fantastic diamond, and the sentiment in the "76" is so lovely! 16% crown height... fire galore! I'm really liking the design of ring #2. Have you thought of titanium?

I love the send setting but I might consider brushed metal not oxidized because I like the look of metal “With Fire”.

OTOH, this recent SMTB perfection from crbl999 looks gorgeous w oxidized metal plus firey light return…

Thank you, Kim!
Yes, titanium is certainly not off the table.

I like the idea of a brushed finish - thank you!

So exciting! I love both your proposed settings, but lean toward the second one more, simply because the precious diamond is more protected. The first setting seems like the diamond would be quite exposed.

A-a-a-and, when do you add the specs to your tagline/signature line?! :D

Some fire and ice snapshots from the couch while watching football with my new buddy

Thank you, SparklieBug!

...thanks for the reminder about my signature - done!

Have you tried on wedding bands that are 8-9mm wide? It might be interesting to see if someone can get the width to 7.6mm.

I certainly have :)
