Wait, who is suffering in this thread? As far as I can see Becky P is the only truly terrible story that''s been posted? Am I misreading something?

The "imitation" thread and its aftermath ... the most incredible timing.

The peeing squirrel.

Erica''s w-ring CADs..

Oh goodness, EricaR''s CADs....WOWZA.

OK.... I can''t post a linky from my apple, but you can find the CADs here:

Erica''s by a landslide. I wanted to bump that baby to the top. I haven''t laughed that hard in a long time. I actually had tears streaming from my eyes just now while reading it.

Funny stuff.

You guyz I''m dying here.
I gotta read all these links when I get time.

I enjoy threads like this because I get a lot of history of PS and brush up on my detective skills

I also like knowing that Deco was as much a firecracker in 2005 as she is in 2009

I was tempted to say:

"Toilet paper?? Nah, bidet and a towel!!"

I agree, I like these kinds of threads - many of the older goodies I have gone back and read before, but some priceless ones like where Diamond Quest "outed" MA, I have not yet seen.

It gives me a sense of history of PS, and also some serious laughs.

Steel : the title of the thread is "Most memorable threads". I guess funny is memorable for most.
If it were "PS''s most irritating threads" or something I would agree that''s bullying.
For the most part, folks are just posting links and saying ''yup, that was funny then and it still is now''.
I don''t see anyone saying "that poster was a fool" etc..

Marian, I think people were referring to this thread for which the url, although not a link, was posted above!

remembers the smelly kid thread.

I agree, many of the riotous threads are gone now, but they certainly do live on in one's memory. I recalled nearly every thread referenced; in fact, I even went back to read the inaugural lemon pie thread and laughed as hard now as I think I did then.

Over the years, PS has been filled with spirited debate, and it's been a great place to be around.

I don't think there was just one 'most' memorable thread; for me, it's more like a compilation of 'greatest hits' in my recall.

I feel a bit the way Alj said that she did, but most of my favorite threads were in Around The World. Today I spent hours (literally) rereading all of this thread about the 2008 vice presidential debate. Almost all of the 23 pages of the thread were written in one night: the night of the debate. Only a few were added later. I found the political disagreements among members to be minor compared to the camaraderie displayed in the thread. One page (I think page 11) had me giggling, too. I loved the list of acceptable insults and not acceptable insults that were agreed upon before the debate so that Pricescopers wouldn't trample too much on each others' feelings...and the list of words uttered by Biden or Palin that would cause those who were drinking alcohol to have to take a drink. (If anyone said the word, "maverick" everyone had to drink, for example.) A group of Pricescopers watched every presidential debate together! Many ATW threads were memorable to me. This is just one good one :-).

Deb, for me, the thing that made PS great was spirited discourse/debate and genuine learning, wrapped up with a razor sharp sense of humor. There was great passion in those days, and people came and they stayed. There was often much mutual respect even when opinions dissented.

I can't pinpoint precisely when it shifted, but it evolved into a climate where even the most innocuous threads had someone getting all ruffled and offended, and for me, it really lost something in the translation. I know at least 2 dozen or so veteran posters who just got too exasperated and stopped coming by.

I'm happy to have been around during those early days; it's those relationships that really keep me connected to PS. If I were newly discovering PS today, I don't know that it would draw me to stay the same way.

Oh yay! The ATW threads and the debate nights! I was soooo sad to miss some of them, but the ones I was here for I loved. Those were certainly some of the best times I can remember on PS, and they certainly helped up my post count!

Between bickering with luckystar, HollyS, Sarah<3sJS and so many others, and bailing out (or getting bailed out) by my like-minded fellows, AGBF, thing2, ksinger and sooooooo many more, a lot of those threads helped me make a lot of friendships. Even with those I didn''t agree with!

The one that Deb linked to was definitely a good one...

I loved arjunajane''s ''downgrade to a GOG OMC'' thread and her UNBELIEVABLE pics!

Freke''s Big Blue gone missing thread was memorable. What a relief when it was found.

wow I missed that imitation thread while I was on break - I had totally forgotten about that poster, and I''m really surprised she''s left or that anyone would be offended instead of flattered. Pity, it was a beautiful stone and deserved to be immortalized here. I would have put her original pic thread in the most memorable pile... also when hockeyguy posted that alleycat had been in a car accident - I will never forget that. It''s not really memorable funny but xraydoc''s ring always is something I think of and remember! And that 8 carat or 10 carat oval in that gorgeous setting.

The doggie got the bling thread is a classic.

"You can call me Reeyonce." Reena''s ring is the reason I fell in love with antique style rings in the first place. Too bad finding really amazing (square) cushions is so darn difficult, because as much as I love my OEC...
