What do you think of this setting?

The reason I'm not saying just buy from that website she likes is I don't personally know them or have seen anyone buy from them so I cannot personally vouch for their diamond or setting quality.

This makes me think of that site though, and again, very affordable considering its a halo

As mentioned above this one really jumps at me. It strikes me as very her. The pics look dark - BG doesn't have any other pics of it though and can't find any on the social medias.

Great find, leaning this way...

i found a few pictures for you. Not much out there on the Sholdt setting. i think these pics are better than the BGD site

Yep, I'm loving the Sholdt. Thanks for those pics! That first one in particular really helpful.

Glad to help! :wavey: It's SO unique! There is a matching band and matching mens band as well

found this on their facebook page

Also, here is the product page on the sholdt website

I'll let the experts weigh in on the stone. Please post pictures of the finished product!

Omg, that Sholdt Cora halo is completely gorgeous!!! I LOVE it in the rose and yellow gold too. Does your intended have a metal color preference? Gosh, with a BGD Signature stone, this would be a stunning ring!!!

This one is getting the overwhelming thumbs up from mutual friends / sister. http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/pave-and-side-stones/cora-sholdt-14k-white-gold-5767w14

What stone would make the most sense?

Pearlmans also sells sholdt, gives you a 2% discount on diamonds if you buy the setting through them, and has been known to offer a discount on settings if you mention you heard about them through price scope.

Ask them about this diamond and see if they could beat Brian Gavin's price for that setting in platinum.

I agree. If she's not concerned with size .7 CT from Brian Gavin's would be lovely too

you know, if she loves the unique, that pearlmans stone would be great with the medium blue fluorescence!

OP, what's your stone budget? If you go with the Sholdt, would you do 14K or 18K white gold or Platinum? I went back and you said your GF likes white metal.

Here are some diamond options at BGD. They don't have any H or G stones that are VS2 or SI1 which would get you a little extra size. You can always call though and ask for Brian or Leslie and see if anything is coming up or if they could get one for you.

She indicated to a mutual friend she prefers white/silver for engagement/wedding stuff. :)

I'm thinking I would do 14k white gold to put a little more towards the stone. I'd like to aim for ~$4500 budget (for the STONE) with a little room to budge. Total budget was ideally below $5k but it looks like it could end up a bit above that.

I was hoping to be above .75 carat, even near a 1.0 but I'm not sure it'll be feasible based on what I've been seeing.

I think Niel knocked it out of the park on the Scholdt setting -- it's AWESOME! I also agree that you may have better luck on diamond pricing at Pearlman's - I'd try to hit the 6 mm mark.

If you could get platinum, that would be great too!

Also, I [emoji175][emoji175][emoji175][emoji175][emoji175] the matching band that goes along with it -- even the men's band is cool! ...but it's certainly not necessary for you two to match, of course. [emoji41]

I'm sorry o thought 4500 was for the whole ring. Let's me look again.

Don't focus on carat weight -- only compare the diameter/size in mm for reference. It's very possible for stones of lower carat weight to face up larger than another "heavier" stone. For example, a 0.75 ct can have a larger diameter than a 0.8 ct...

Niel, can you find him some stones that hit the 6 mm mark? I can't search right now, and let's face it, you're much better at finding "bargains"! [emoji8]

Awesome choices Neil. That last stone was a great option. OP call BGD now. They have great customer service. Mention PS and see if can offer any discounts.

Hm, what other vendor carries Sholdt? You could call Good Old Gold, IDJ or High Performance Diamonds and see if they can get Sholdt and to source you a stone.

With the virtual stone Niel linked, I would want to see an ASET of it given the crown angle.

Does the 35.5% crown angle concern you?

Did you call them or live chat and have them pull it for you? Honestly engagement shopping is all a matter of compromise. If you get that setting in platinum, at your original 5k budget, with an H color, vvs clarity ideally cut 6mm stone, is that extra .5 really the end of the world if it has a negligible effect on performance?

Have them pull it before it's sold and just see what they have to say about it. Better to consider it after the facts rather than let it get sold while you wonder.

I did call, they can't confirm it's available until the supplier is open tomorrow.

That's great! The wheels are in motion ::)

If that stones not the one they can help find another one. If you pick the stone out in the next few days maybe it can be done by your timeframe

From BG rep:

Thanks for your patience! I just heard back the vendor confirmed that the diamond is actually located overseas. There is a note on the stone that it is a light brown in color. I can't get much more information on the stone or have an eye on it. What are your thoughts?

Hmmm... [emoji15][emoji16]
I don't think I'd want brown undertones without seeing it in person.

Hmm. I personally prefer a brown to a yellow tint, and it won't even be listed on the very becuase they don't even make note of it in colors above k. But I am not you so I can't tell you to do it based on my preference there.

That's probably why it's the price it is.

Are they going to make you pay for it before they'll have it shipped to them or could they have them get it so you can see a photo?

I mean it's an H, how prominent could it be?

I was thinking the same thing about the color being H… I wonder why they even made mention of it?

No brown undertone unless the setting choice is rose gold, in my opinion.
