MC- This stone was not expensive at all. I don't think purple spinel is a highly prized color in "trade" terms, but I love it anyway. This was my very first gemstone purchase; I believe it was under $200. Can you believe I almost sent it back? I decided to keep it after I played with it in the sun. Well, that and I saw one about the same size, and same color on Jeff White's site for more than 3x's as much! Not that I don't love Jeff's work, but the cutting AND price on this one made me very, very happy.
