I love Penguin too! Their stuff is so cute, it fits well and it's not super expensive-what's not to love?! My fiance has a lot of Penguin stuff. Your husband's style sounds cute! I love it when boys wear sweaters or button up shirts. Really I just love it when a boy isn't wearing just jeans and a t-shirt! And that's funny he hates jeans-he's a fancy man!

I bet your husband would like Spiewak coats. They make awesome wool coats, and they also have cute more casual coats, too. He might also like Shades of Greige clothes. Shades of Greige is sometimes too fashion-y but a lot of their stuff is pretty wearable for a regular guy. From what you're describing it seems like stuff he might like.

I'm glad you have a turtleneck ban. I absolutely HATE a dude in a turtleneck. Seriously, I hate it so much! I would maybe make an exception for a Euro-ish chunky black sweater...maybe. V necks are really the way to go when it comes to sweaters for guys.

Ok, I just went to the Spiewak site and I found stuff for both of us! I found a jacket he would love (has lots of pockets, he's into pockets, I'm into buttons lol). It's a tad similar to the one he really wants but it's a lighter weight. I'm trying to hold off for the one he truly wants. Besides, I can only seem to find it in chocolate brown when I want it in grey!!

And yes, ban on turtlenecks. I will only tolerate it on a European guy or a gay guy...I'm horrible huh? Shades of Greige looks like a no go, too much plaid!! (I won't have it, grunge is over dammit! LMAO)

Thing, how did you meet your FI? You and your family are beautiful; I love all your pics! How wonderful that you and your twin are so close and your job sounds like a blast. I worked at a clothing store and thought is was the most fun ever but envied the buyers! What kind of music do you like? What is your favorite food?

Thanks Skippy! I love my twin sister so very much-no one understands us like we do! We have exactly the same sense of humor and can amuse ourselves for hours!

My fiance and I met at a party a couple of years before we started dating. He had a huge crush on me the moment he saw me and I didn't really remember meeting him or even seeing him at all!
12.gif
A mutual friend of ours was supposed to introduce us but that never happened. So I like to say he basically stalked me for a year or two! (He saw me around town a few times and he knew where I lived because his friend lived next door to me, so he would go to his friend's house in the hopes that I would be hanging out on my porch! So tender!) So eventually he joined Friendster, found me on there and messaged me about how he met me a long time ago and his friend was supposed to hook us up but that never happened, etc. I message him back because he was a little dreamboat in his picture even though I barely remembered meeting him. And we've been together ever since! We're going on 6 years!

For music, I love love love pop punk! I was super pop punk and used to go to all the shows when I was maybe 16-22ish. So I still love it! My favorite bands from that era (and still today, honestly!) are Alkaline Trio, Hot Water Music, Saves The Day, Get Up Kids, Teen Idols, Mr. T Experience, Weston, Lifetime, All/The Descendants, The Ataris, etc. I also love Weezer-mostly Pinkerton and the blue album. And lately I've been really into Billy Bragg...he's a British folk/punk singer who's been around for ages, but I just discovered him a few years ago. I went to see him a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome!

Ha! That's funny how you met your FI. I ran the same circles as DH for YEARS before I took note of him. I finally introduced myself after a show because a girl I was with thought he was cute. He was like "this is the third time we've met Moon" and I was so embarrassed lol.

The bands you're naming are giving me flashbacks to my indie record store days. But I didn't like most of the ones you listed. I do like Billy Bragg, I think he's an awesome songwriter. Too bad I only have Don't Try This At Home. What bugs me is that the beginning guitar riff to the first track sounds almost exactly like Violet by Hole. I'm sure Courtney stole it from him.

I absolutely

the blue album. I could play that over and over and over and never get bored. Hell, so many memories are attached at this point I may even cry! Pinkerton had to grow on me but I love it now as well.

Ok...now I'm hungry for sushi...you suck.

MOON: The quotes are getting too long so I''m just calling you out!

Hilarious about your husband-I guess we''re too cool to notice these suckas at first!

If you love the Spiewak stuff and actually want to buy something check out Karmaloop.com or Tobi.com first. They both have coupon codes right now so you can get some deals! And stuff at Karmaloop is always super cheap-they don''t mark their stuff up much at all.

So funny that you hate all my pop punk bands! I can''t lie-I am super pop punk at heart. What music do you listen to?

I love Weezer so much...I can remember making out to Weezer when I was like 14 or 15! I''ve seen them several times, too. Not the most energetic live performers but it was still really fun.

And Billy Bragg was SO GOOD in live! He had these funny monologues in between every song and he sounded so good live! I saw him at this small theatre and me and my twin sister were in the second row. I''m super proud because I introduced his music to her, and usually it''s the other way around. She''s way more into music than I am. We have different musical taste for the most part, and she keeps up with all the cool bands. She loves stuff like Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, Blind Pilot, etc. And her favorite band of all time is R.E.M.

I need a way to recognize you on FB! Your real name is your screen name here, right? If that''s the case then there are more than one of you with no photo on FB!

And I already gripe that I''m not 21 anymore...I have to watch what I eat and stuff now or I get too squishy...blah! Your mom''s saying is pretty much true! We''ll all end up wrinkly and saggy some day (if we''re lucky!).
OK...for a limited time ONLY.....yes, I''m me, and I have my hands folded in pious prayer.....

I know, the quotes are ridic! Thanks for the links. I found the jacket. I just emailed DH to see what he thinks. It would be great if he wanted one with that 20% off and free shipping!!

Yeah, pop-punk is so not my thing. I listen to all kinds of music but I'm a rock chick at heart. My faves as a teen and still today most likely due to nostalgia: Nirvana (duh), Alice In Chains, Babes In Toyland, Hole, Bikini Kill, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Tribe 8 (lesbian punk band from SanFran, LOVE those ladies, met them several times), Lunachicks, Team Dresch (they broke up before I saw them live, just found out they played in DC last year but I missed it, *cry*), Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, Melvins, Heart, Sleater-Kinney, Nine Inch Nails um...I could go on for years...seriously, you should see my CD/record collection...

Non-rock: Nina Simone (LOVE HER!), Bob Dylan, Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jeff Buckley (wait, he's rock right? lol), Elliot Smith, Nick Drake...and again, I could go on for years... I went through a Bright Eyes phase and was obsessed with Fevers and Mirrors. That kid, er when he was a kid, was a genius!

YES!

And believe it or not I like a lot of your bands, too! I saw Lunachicks waaaaaay back when in the 8th grade! They signed our t-shirts-I was so impressed! They played with the Vandals and the Offspring. I obviously LOVED Nirvana in middle school and high school...I like Hole (my best friend loves them) and actually my fiance is soooo into Sleater-Kinney! And they shopped at my store and I sold Carrie Brownstein jeans! She was super nice!

I went through an Ani DiFranco phase myself-my old roomie and best friend LOVED her...I also like Jeff Buckley and Elliot Smith a lot. My favorite scene in a movie ever is when Richie Tenenbaum tries to kill himself to "Needle In The Hay" in the Royal Tenenbaums.

Now I understand the screen name, thing2. It''s good that you have ''another half'' that thinks like you; you''re kind of outnumbered in your family, aren''t you?

All those dang Republicans!

Your job sounds interesting; I''m completely jealous ''cause mine is dull, dull, dull! That''s really why I''m so ''crotchety''; I''m bored.
9.gif

Tell me about it-I am completely surrounded! At least in my immediate family...why God why?!!

Actually, most of my aunts and uncles and all of my cousins are super liberal, so we fit in with all of them.

My job is fun-I love clothes so it hasn''t gotten old or boring yet! I don''t know what I''ll do if/when I get bored with my job...I''ll probably try to do something medical-ish. How ''bout you? Ever though of getting a new job that''s less boring?
Well, I can think of lots of things I''d do if I won the Lotto. Open an independent bookstore with a great coffee shop would be something I''d love. Book signings, poetry readings, open mike night, etc. But it doesn''t easily translate into ''money'', that''s why I''d want to be independent from the need to make a living at it. Take that stress away, and I could turn the bookstore into anything I liked, regardless of the cash flow.

Or just a really great coffeehouse. A restaurant close by just closed; they have a stage for entertainment, a good location; the right person could make this a venue for singer-songwriters. We have friends who put those kind of shows together, and have talked to them about doing our own acoustic music series somewhere. Again, no money to be made, so independent wealth would be really helpful!

Ha! The Lunachicks were the best. They put on the most insane shows. I met them back when I was 19. I also met Sleater-Kinney (very sweet ladies), Courtney Love (before the crack and only a few months after Kurt died, she was extremely nice, gave me a hug and kiss), Mudhoney (that is a long and embarrassing story but I got an awesome friend out of it, it's been 15 years now), Melvins (love those guys, met them twice), I half met Robin Finck from NIN (he is soooo cute and super duper sweet, I submitted a painting to his website and he actually put it up, I just about died), I half met Tori Amos (as in there was a HUGE crowd and I shoved my hand in with a pen and paper so I could get her autograph for my best friend who adored her), and I half met Kathleen Hanna when I yelled up at her while she was looking out the window before a Le Tigre show, she waved to me haha.

How can Ani D be a phase? Okay, so I haven't picked up her last um, 3 records. But that woman is utterly brilliant! Have you seen her live? My friends and I use to see all the shows she played around here. She made me cry about a million times. She's a freaking genius. I've actually been neglecting music in general the last few years (well save DH's music), due to being over worked but that all ends soon and I'm going to dive back in. Hell I need to rebuild the callouses on my fingers so I can play guitar again without screaming in pain!!!

I could not get into the Royal Tenenbaums but I LOVE "Needle In The Hay" that song practically moves you to tears anyway but when you think of how Elliot died you just freaking bawl your eyes out. Speaking of another genius. That man was so utterly amazing. And I'm still pissed that Jeff Buckley is dead, that voice was....how can you even describe it.

so yeah...facebook...well i do have a few friends there already...i'll keep thinking about it. oh but i need to blame you for something. last night i had a dream about a house full an Anthro clothing!!!!!!!! wth??!

That's awesome that you met all your faves like that! I do love Le Tigre! They played at my school forever ago and I went but I ended up leaving because they were super late starting and I was starving-I'm so mad at myself about that! Oh, I also have a crush on Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I saw them at the 9:30 club a few years ago and she was so good! And other musician girl crushes include Tegan and Sara-I've tried to get my hair cut like them a few times! My older brother and older sister absolutely LOVE Tori Amos but I never got super into her although I do enjoy her.

But now I must know how you couldn't get into the Royal Tenenbaums!!! Best movie ever!

It is so crazy how Elliott Smith killed himself. So sad!

An independent bookstore/coffee shop would be super fun to have-it''s such a bummer stuff like that doesn''t make money that easily. Although there is an independent bookstore up the street from me that doesn''t have a coffee shop that seems to do okay. They sell mostly used books but they do have a section of new books. They always have great stuff, and they have art shows in the upstairs part, which is always cool.

I wouldn''t mind some independent wealth myself! I''d probably just travel all over the world and shop if I was super rich! And maybe start a charity to feel better about myself...

Well I think you need to restart your Ani phase hahaha...just play the early records. She just became a mom, I''m wondering if that mellowed her out at all. I really need to pick up her new albums. Isn''t Le Tigre still around? They''re a fun live act, try to see them again! I dig Karen O, I was actually slow listening to the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs when they came out. I thought she sounded like Kathleen on some songs and said, why would I want a watered down version of the real thing (silly me!). Tegan and Sara, now those two I have never even heard! How silly is that? One of my closest friends was a HUGE Ani fan (seriously, he would travel over the country to see her play), and he LOVED them. I should check them out, any recommendations? Tori is probably best to see live, even if you don''t own her records. She''s another brilliant live performer.

Now the Royal Tenenbaums...I don''t know. I think I may not like Wes Anderson''s (and Owen Wilson) writing much because I also didn''t care for Rushmore or Life Aquatic (and I adore Bill Murray and tend to like him in anything).
