Who Thing2, you''re the next contestant . . .

Oh, and I HATE how Anthro never mentions the brands on their shoes! I think it''s because they mark them up so high and they don''t want you to find them cheaper on another website! Seriously!

If you ever like a pair and want to find out who makes them post a picture for me! I shop online so much that a lot of times I can figure out who makes them. And my best friend (Anthro-lover) is a super sleuth and she is always finding out who makes the shoes on Anthro so she can order them elsewhere!

I thought those were Miz Mooz! My former coworker had a similar pair from a few years ago, but hers had covered buttons-they were a little more girly and a lot less fierce! She bought them in red, too!

$500 is pretty ridonkulous for some boots made in China! A lot of expensive stuff is like that, it seems. Including purses by my boy Marc Jacobs. The Marc by Marc ones are all made in China! And so are a bunch of other ''luxury'' handbags brands, like Goldenbleu! The Marc Jacobs Collection ones are made in Italy, but those are all over $1000!

I''m lucky because I''m getting the Frye boots with my discount...but if they were full price I probably wouldn''t be springing for them!

Wha? Marc Jacobs made in China? I had no clue. I never pay attention to designers much...er well except Coach, I love them but then I never buy them LOL...I''m on the hunt for a classic black bag though. Another investment since I have to replace the cheapies every 2 years or so. I hate that. I want stuff that will last forever!!!

Miz Mooz is great, I''m so happy I found them. The boots ARE fierce! You feel like you can kick anyone''s ass in them, seriously. I desperately want to pair them with my skinny jeans and this sweater,

Defy The Odds

Ooh, that sweater is hot. See, sweaters truly look the best in heather grey! That would be an awesome outfit. I love your color challenge with your coworkers-hilarious! Do you get dressed up for work? I would imagine getting dressed up would make it even harder to wear color because it seems like all dressy clothes are black or grey.

Oooh, I didn''t know that! Thanks. The only time I saw them mention the brand was Frye, and that''s probably because Frye wouldn''t allow otherwise. I wish I had known this before those boots disappeared...wait...I think it''s in their catalog, let me see if I can find them...

I don''t have to dress up, but I must be presentable. Sometimes I do, and you''re right, it''s always black LOL. I''m trying so hard to branch out, I swear.

And screw Anthro, since the December catalog came out, the catalog with the boots is gone!! They hate me!!

Let me know! They carry a ton of a brand called Pink Studio. We carry them at my store also so I know what the whole line looks like! A couple of other lines they usually carry are Chie Mihara and Coclico. Also Faryl Robin. It''s easier when they''re sandals or flats or even heels because you can usually see the inside of the shoe and my friend and I can recognize the logos!

wait, did a google search and found them: Button Brigade (they look better on the model than in this pic to me)

That sucks! They do have some nice shoes and boots...a lot of them are random fancy European brands even I have never heard of, and I am a shoe fanatic! Oh-they also carry Jim Barnier and I think they also have his cheaper line called Gee WaWa.

ya know, i can''t believe you''ve got me talking for pages about shoes and clothes!! i sound like such a consumer!!

Alright, I better get my butt off PS and go do something useful...I''m supposed to stop by work for a while but I am so lazy today! It was fun chatting with you! And we''ll have to start some controversy over in ATW this week now that the Palin thread is gone!

Thanks for your post about being one of a large family! I love that my kids will have each other when I am gone.. And also so I can be passed around the kids when I am senile and can''t be left on my own. I don''t want to go into an old peoples home. They smell of wee.

You''re welcome! I don''t know if I explained the feeling very well, but I really do love it. I just can''t imagine only having 1 or 2 siblings! It''s also a lot of fun to have so many nieces and nephews. You''re going to be a busy grandma some day!

Oh man, I totally feel you guys on the "color rut" thing. Mine sucks because I am drawn to all things brown, or that go well with brown (yellow gold, etc) and then I also love CHARCOAL gray! LOL! It would be easier to stick to one side. Oh well.

Thing2 I love your style. Wasn''t it you that posted the awesome fringed boots? I am trying to work up to getting a pair...I have been shopping WAY too much lately! I am really into boots, and I scored a great 80s caramel leather bomber type jacket on eBay for 10 bucks! Woohoo!

Oh, and your FI is gorgeous!!! He has great hair.

Sorry if I missed this, but how did you get started being a buyer?? Coolest job ever!

I totally get stuck in color ruts, too! I love grey a lot...grey and black are my two long time favorite colors for sure! I got into brown when I went a little boho several years ago! A random departure that I blame on my job!

Thanks for the compliments! I'm pretty obsessed with clothes! Those were my insane fringe boots-I need to wear those sometime! I only ever wore them a few times. I've been spending money like I'm rich lately, too! I need to CHILL OUT. I love boots-what styles have you been into lately? Any links or pics of your latest?

And I go on and off with eBay. I get all obsessed and buy a bunch of stuff and then I don't get anything for a while. Right now I'm in a not buying phase with eBay because I just bought a bunch of stuff last month! Your jacket sounds sweet-what a score! I hate it when stuff I want on eBay gets really expensive...it kind of defeats the purpose of eBay! If I want to spend $50 on a jacket I'll get it at an overpriced vintage store, ya know?

My fiance's hair is my fave! He grows it long and then buzzes his head every year! I always love it long and don't want him to cut it but then it looks cute short, and even cuter when it's the length it is in the picture I posted. I should find one where it's longer-it gets insane! Not shoulder length or anything but it gets really long!

I got started as buyer by first being the assistant manager at the store I work at now. (I shopped there and was working at Forever 21 of all places and they recruited me to work there!) The owners would ask me to pick stuff out and I just slowly started helping more and more, traveling to trade shows, etc. Then I got promoted to manager and was buying like half the time. Then I went back to school and I was over working on the floor, so I took over even more of the buying and now that's what I do!

I think working at an independently owned boutique is a great way to get a foot in the door as far as buying goes. There are department stores and bigger companies that hire buyers (usually with fashion degrees) but it's a lot more focused. Some bigger companies will have a women's pants buyer, a women's top buyer, a shoe buyer, etc. I get to buy it all, which I love! We carry everything-jewelry, handbags, shoes, denim, tops, dresses, etc. And I buy men's stuff too, which I also like, although not as much as women's!

I love the Sundance catalog for exactly the same things! Funny! My best friend loves it even more than me-you two might have similar style. She absolutely LOVES Anthro-I think half of her wardrobe is from there!

I haven''t posted the name of my store...I''m a bit of a secret squirrel about that...sorry! Are you in the Facebook group for Pricescope? I don''t think so, but if you are, you could find me in there and my store''s on my FB page! I will glady post some of the stuff I buy, though! Let me start finding pics!

I''m not on facebook, or myspace, or any of that stuff. I never had a reason to join because I live in gmail. Perhaps I will when things slow down around these parts and I get the time to really pay attention to it. I just realize it''s probably a good idea you didn''t post the store, you could end up with stalkers! lol. But hopefully I''ll find out eventually...(wait, that makes *me* sound like the stalker!!).

Hahaha! Creepy lady! You should totally join FB so you can join the PS group!
Hmph. I couldn''t wear skinny jeans if my life depended on it. In fact, my life would probably END...in asphyxiation. I love you guys, but can I hate you both on general principle?? Good!! Got that out of the way.

Nowadays I just buy clothes for my guy, who is slim, trim, and so much easier and more satisfying to shop for. I just got him a dress overcoat (black wool - he doesn''t get cashmere, sorry) and a very nice leather bomber type jacket - slightly pebbled leather, in dark brown. (He doesn''t like his look TOO refined, so no smooth lambskin). I am in fact, turning this man into a clothes horse. And he used to wear Wrangler jeans, plaid shirts, and oilfield caps bigger than his head.
20.gif
Now I hardly see him lower than Dockers and usually in a dress shirt and tie. Getting old mostly sucks but we do learn a few things along the way, thank god.

Well, I''m trying to find anything PS related on FB. Will keep searching. Hate it that we all must be so sneaky to connect, but I KNOW it can be done....

Yeah, DH has a REAL peacoat that his brother (who was in the Navy) gave him. It weighs a freakin'' TON, but fits him like a glove and he just looks wonderful in it.
30.gif

Hopefully before the weekend is out. DH loves Penguin stuff and he is so not a design wh*re. He just happens to like a lot of their stuff. He has a definite style though I''d be at a lost for words to describe it. He looks amazing in jackets where the collar zips up to his neck, yet I would never allow him to wear a turtle neck...weird. He has an arsenal of V-neck sweaters, his favorite is cashmere. He hates denim, absolutely refuses to wear it. And he has a small collection of cool shoes. Not to shabby. It''s always fun to add to it.

Speaking of cool jobs, I saw my Aunt over Thanksgiving and she said a chick I went to high school with (she's in contact with her mom) works as a window dresser for Gap and they send her all over the country and all over the world (she was just in Japan). They set her up with an apartment and everything. I thought to myself, I'm in the wrong business! lol

Hahaha, Karen you''re a riot! DH loves wool coats, in fact he discovered an expensive one recently that he''s been obsessing over but keeps telling himself it''s too expensive. I don''t think it is, for a coat but the place doesn''t have his size so it''s out of the question. DH''s style when we first started going out pretty much sucked, but I helped him out a lot and now he does well dressing all by himself! Like a big boy! hahahaha

wait, did a google search and found them: Button Brigade (they look better on the model than in this pic to me)
Those are hot! They don''t ring a bell for me-sorry!-but I''ll ask my friend! I bet they''re some fancy obscure Euro brand.
Alright, I better get my butt off PS and go do something useful...I''m supposed to stop by work for a while but I am so lazy today! It was fun chatting with you! And we''ll have to start some controversy over in ATW this week now that the Palin thread is gone!

Hahaha! Alright, I need to get my ass back to this paper...although later I''m going to this place Whimsy | Reason to shop for DH''s Xmas present(s).

ETA: Stop bringing me down woman!! Ok, keep it up, I need to overhaul my wardrobe.
Did you find anything good for your husband?! (Or yourself?

) The men''s store has a lot of the brands we carry at my store. We carry Brown Sound, Penguin, Retrosport, Alpha Industries and Alternative Apparel also. All cute stuff! My fiance is pretty well dressed if I do say so myself!

I finally stopped buying him clothes for his gifts because he has so many and he isn''t really that into them!
I never made it to the store!!

I love Penguin too! Their stuff is so cute, it fits well and it''s not super expensive-what''s not to love?! My fiance has a lot of Penguin stuff. Your husband''s style sounds cute! I love it when boys wear sweaters or button up shirts. Really I just love it when a boy isn''t wearing just jeans and a t-shirt! And that''s funny he hates jeans-he''s a fancy man!

I bet your husband would like Spiewak coats. They make awesome wool coats, and they also have cute more casual coats, too. He might also like Shades of Greige clothes. Shades of Greige is sometimes too fashion-y but a lot of their stuff is pretty wearable for a regular guy. From what you''re describing it seems like stuff he might like.

I''m glad you have a turtleneck ban. I absolutely HATE a dude in a turtleneck. Seriously, I hate it so much! I would maybe make an exception for a Euro-ish chunky black sweater...maybe. V necks are really the way to go when it comes to sweaters for guys.

Thing, how did you meet your FI? You and your family are beautiful; I love all your pics! How wonderful that you and your twin are so close and your job sounds like a blast. I worked at a clothing store and thought is was the most fun ever but envied the buyers! What kind of music do you like? What is your favorite food?

Thanks Skippy! I love my twin sister so very much-no one understands us like we do! We have exactly the same sense of humor and can amuse ourselves for hours!

My fiance and I met at a party a couple of years before we started dating. He had a huge crush on me the moment he saw me and I didn''t really remember meeting him or even seeing him at all!

A mutual friend of ours was supposed to introduce us but that never happened. So I like to say he basically stalked me for a year or two! (He saw me around town a few times and he knew where I lived because his friend lived next door to me, so he would go to his friend''s house in the hopes that I would be hanging out on my porch! So tender!) So eventually he joined Friendster, found me on there and messaged me about how he met me a long time ago and his friend was supposed to hook us up but that never happened, etc. I message him back because he was a little dreamboat in his picture even though I barely remembered meeting him. And we''ve been together ever since! We''re going on 6 years!

For music, I love love love pop punk! I was super pop punk and used to go to all the shows when I was maybe 16-22ish. So I still love it! My favorite bands from that era (and still today, honestly!) are Alkaline Trio, Hot Water Music, Saves The Day, Get Up Kids, Teen Idols, Mr. T Experience, Weston, Lifetime, All/The Descendants, The Ataris, etc. I also love Weezer-mostly Pinkerton and the blue album. And lately I''ve been really into Billy Bragg...he''s a British folk/punk singer who''s been around for ages, but I just discovered him a few years ago. I went to see him a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome!

My favorite food is probably Coca-Cola Classic!

Seriously, I love Coke. As far as solid foods go, I love sushi, I love salad a lot and lately I''ve been eating a lot of chicken basil from the Thai place that''s like 2 doors down from my apartment. I also have a major sweet tooth and although I don''t indulge it too often, I love cinnamon candy like cinnamon bears or red hots, black licorice Jelly Bellys, maple sugar candy and anything chocolate hazelnut or chocolate with spicy stuff in it. (Vosges makes delicious chocolate with red chiles in it!)

Phew, sorry for rambling-I''m feeling chatty today, can you tell?!
