Who Thing2, you''re the next contestant . . .

Sweet jacket Miscka! I like the color a lot!

Yeah, I kind of hate melted cheese...it grosses me out! When people eat big chunks of cold melted cheese (like the cheese from a pizza that gets stuck on the plate) I want to throw up...sorry, probably too much information for you! And I'm so going to try your recommendations for WF! YUM. You're making me hungry! It's kind of far from my house (it's in the 'burbs and I'm right in the city) but it's near my fiance's work so I always get him to pick me up stuff. I bet the shrimp gumbo is insane! YUM!

The curl cream is Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Curl Cream. There are 2 formulas-1 for finer hair and 1 for medium to thick hair. He gets the medium to thick hair kind because he has a ton of hair! Here's a link: link
He just puts it in his hair when it's wet and it looks so cute! They sell Bumble and Bumble at Target now so it's pretty easy to find, I think.

hahahaha! You are making me laugh with your food tastes! I love melted cheese--oooey goooooey gross-Thing2of2-out MELTED ChEEESE! MwahHAHAAAA

I wrote to you on my thread about taking you to a sushi area! I must''ve intuitively known not to suggest MELTED CHEESE LAND.

Real Mexican food is the best! We go to this little grungy divey place that has the BEST Mexican food.

I want to try that Whole Foods pizza you mentioned--sounds good!

I don''t know if you''ve answered this but how tall are you? How tall''s your man? What do you wear the most--heels or flats? Do you have an exercise regime? How do you care for your skin? You have stunning skin!

AHHH! Stop it with the melted cheese!!!! GROSS! Hahaha! I''m heading to your thread right after this to see your sushi suggestions!

I''m 5''8" and my fiance is 5''7". When we first started dating he tried to tell me he was 5''8" but he is definitely shorter than I am! I wear flats pretty much always...I think I''ve worn heels maybe 2 or 3 times in the last year? They hurt my feet and I figure I''m tall already! But I do love it when I wear heels because I''m taller than almost everyone when I do!

My exercise regime is just playing soccer! I play on a bunch of different teams but at most I play 4 times a week. I play on an outdoor women''s team, an outdoor co-ed team, an indoor co-ed team and I''m going start playing 4 v. 4 on a smaller indoor soccer field in January. Probably way more info than you wanted to know but I am a soccer nerd...I LOVE it. Right now I''m only playing once a week (indoor) because I''m between outdoors seasons...so I''m going to try to start running...blah!

And thanks for the compliments on my skin! Right now it''s peeling off my face so I needed that!
3.gif
I wash my face with Kiehl''s energizing face wash (it''s in the men''s line and my fiance got me hooked on it) and I moisturize with Kiehl''s Creme D''Elegance Repairateur. I also use Retin-A Micro occasionally. It dries out my skin a LOT but every now and then I get a random break out so I use it for a week or two and my skin clears back up. Really, my fiance has insanely perfect skin and it fills me with jealousy. I think he gets 1 zit every 6 months. I''m not even exaggerating!

Hmm, perhaps I should get Retin-A Micro for my occasional zit. I break out about once a month (guess when? lol) and I would love to have it go away immediately!

What''s with all the tall ladies? Coati and her long model legs, you being 5''8" suddenly I feel short! That''s why I wear heels. I need to compete with a man that''s 6''3"!!!

Thing, you need to help me shop. Ok, not right now, tis not the season to shop for myself, however, I need to overhaul my entire wardrobe! Please don''t let me buy everything from Anthro, I can''t afford it!

I am so going to be hating the fact that the high waisted jeans are coming back in. Although I love them, I can never get them to fit the waist and the bootie.

Hi Thing2!

I've been enjoying reading about you and your twin and your large family and your cute FI!

Your mentioning Billy Bragg made me think of Wilco which made me wonder...do you like Son Volt? Whiskeytown?

I loved the pictures of your cats, btw!

Oh! And I loved your opera talk, ksinger!

OMG Thing, I read your posts to tradergirl and you actually made me spit my coffee out!!! They were a riot. I LOVED your responses to her. Thank YOU!!!

he he! i've never see this part of PS before, but am glad I did and thank you for those comments to that poster. very funny. When i read her posts I just want to type something so insanely nasty, but don't want to sink to her level or get myself in trouble you know? You manage to do it with humor which is the best.

Totally late response, but Moon, I HIGHLY recommend the Retin-A Micro! My older sister (who actually has some fairly major skin issues) raved about it to me so when I went to the dermatologist I pretty much just made them give it to me! They didn''t want to because I have kind of dry skin and it was red at the time because I was embarrassed at them seeing me TOTALLY NAKED when they checked out my moles! Hahaha...sorry, definitely TMI. But I told the doctor that''s why my face was red and so he told me to just use it every other night or every third night. Long story, but definitely get it!

And I''m so down for helping you update your wardrobe!

Oh they have been back in! You better hop on the high waisted train! Next up is the boyfriend fit train! I''m so all about it...I can barely wear my skinny jeans now that I have a bunch of baggy jeans!

Thanks, matilda! I like Wilco but I''m not super into them. I''ve actually never heard of Son Volt (going to check them out now!), but I do like Whiskeytown. Mainly because my fiance LOVES Whiskeytown and Ryan Adams. And he also loves Wilco-he''s seen them a few times! That''s definitely his favorite type of music. It''s his Kentucky roots, I think! He''s a little bit country at heart!

Are you into Wilco, Son Volt and Whiskeytown?

Thing2,

I really like Son Volt a lot. Your FI will know this but first there was Uncle Tupelo (I think) and Jeff Tweedy from Wilco and Jay Farrar from Son Volt were in UT together. They later split into the other groups. I saw Jay Farrar solo at that cool barn-like dinner theater/club place in D.C. -- I believe you are in VA? So that''s another thing that got me thinking about these bands.

I love music. I''m a total 80s modern rock/new wave nerd. Depeche Mode, New Order, Smiths, etc.... but I love so many different types. Love to go to Coachella music festival here in CA.

Are you in Virginia? You mentioned the 9:30 Club. I love VA and am trying to get DH to move east.

I am in VA-I''m in Richmond. I''m an east coast kind of girl so of course I think you should totally move to VA! Or at least the east coast! We have an awesome new venue here called The National that just opened this year, so we''re getting bigger names to play here. (Bigger smallish bands, I should say.) I actually saw Billy Bragg in Charlottesville. SO GOOD.

I''ll have to check out Son Volt-I bet my fiance probably has some of their stuff. I''m more of a pop punk kind of girl myself but I like a little bit of everything. You might like a lot of the stuff my older siblings like since you like 80s stuff. They love the Pixies, the Cure, Tori Amos, etc. I''m not super into music, but my twin sister definitely is! She likes more indie rock-ish stuff like Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, etc. So she keeps me pretty up to date on the cool stuff!
3.gif

I do love a good show, though. I saw Alkaline Trio at the National a few months ago and they were so good! I''ve seen them tons of times but I hadn''t seen them in probably 4 years. Their new album hadn''t come out yet so they played all their old stuff which I loved. I think them and Billy Bragg were the only shows I''ve been to all year.

And I forgot to ask-do you like Billy Bragg? I think most people either love him or hate him!

Thing, where in KY is your FI from?

Off to convince my MD to prescribe some Retin A...lol!

Richmond! Yay east coast!

I''m CA born and raised but I lived for 10 years in NC. I did live in VA Beach for a short time with an ex-bf who was Navy. My folks live near Lexington, VA. My sister (her husband is in the Navy) has a house in Norfolk but they are renting it out since they move around a lot. I''m in CA now but pining for a move. It''s so expensive here and I miss the seasons.

I don''t know a lot of Billy Bragg. Is it Mermaid Avenue that is the Billy Bragg/Wilco album? There''s one that one of my cooler exes had (he loves BB) that he played a lot that I liked. Is California Stars a BB or Wilco song? I bet BB is fun to see live.

Sorry if I''m thread-jacking!

He moved around a bit as a kid but his hometown is probably Bowling Green. And he went to Western Kentucky University. Are you from KY?

And yes, get your doctor to get you some Retin A-it''s amazing! I stopped using it this summer because it makes your skin sensitive to the sun and I play outdoor soccer a lot in the summer, but I recently started using it again and my skin is looking awesome!

You are definitely not thread-jacking-I like chatting with peeps here! I''ve been to Lexington, VA a few times. My sister''s ex-bf had a family cabin there and we went camping there once...so pretty and fun.

Mermaid Avenue is the BB/Wilco CD of Woodie Guthrie songs. Guthrie''s daughter contacted Billy Bragg and gave him access to the lyrics of thousands of unrecorded Guthrie songs, and then BB invited Wilco to be a part of it, too. Apparently Guthrie didn''t write music down-he just kept it in his head-so once he died the music to go with the lyrics were gone. (I should point out that I only know this because BB explained it at his show!) Anyways, I''m pretty sure it''s the guy from Wilco who sings California Stars.

My favorite song from that album is probably Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key-I love it! Oh and BB said that Woody Guthrie was a dirty old man, so the song Ingrid Bergman on that album is really pretty naughty...and if you listen to it with that in mind you''re like
6.gif
! He was awesome live-so funny, and he sounds exactly like the albums, which I like. I hate it when you see a band and they sound horrible compared to their album.

You should totally come back to VA! I could probably never not live on the east coast...I know I would definitely miss the seasons if I moved to the west coast, too. I actually don''t think I''ll ever leave Richmond! The only place I would move to is NYC but I don''t think I want to live there. Do you think you''ll definitely move back to the east coast eventually?

Ew that''s a lot of quote, sorry. I really, really, really want to get back to the east coast. I''m hoping in the next 2 years it will be possible. My sister and her husband are actually getting based for almost 2 yrs. in Monterey, CA (she and I grew up in San Diego and Monterey) and I''m IN San Diego. It''s the closest I''ll have lived to her in 10 years or more. And I have a baby niece. So that keeps me happy to stay here while we save money to move. But my sis'' plans change all the tine (Navy) so I can''t make decisions based on where she is. Or, that''s what my mom and DH tell me. :>

I''m going to have to do the entire move, though. My DH really is a CA guy and has never left. He hasn''t really traveled much at all, except up and down the coast to Oregon. But for our honeymoon my sister and I showed him all around Norfolk and he likes it there. He works for the D.O.D. so that or DC would be feasible.

Oh! I looked up the club I went to -- it was the Birchmere in DC.

Oooh, that will be nice to have your sister and niece so close! My older sister and nieces are just a few hours away but I still wish she was closer! And my twin sis lives in my same apartment building which is about as close as we can get! (We lived together many years ago when we were 18-19 and it did NOT go well! Let''s just say our other roommates got used to tuning out all the yelling!)

I''ve heard Norfolk is nice-I''m not too familiar with that area but I have a lot of friends from VA Beach and they all like it there. And if your husband works for the D.O.D. that would be perfect. I know there are nice parts of Northern VA as well but it''s apparently very expensive there. But it would be nice to be close to DC! I''ve never been to the Birchmere in DC but I have heard of it. I''ve only been to the 9:30 Club and the Black Cat in DC. I think I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the Black Cat. And I saw Weezer at American University but I think it was just in their gym...

Thing 2, I love reading your posts always, but especially lately! You are awesome, and much more level-headed than I usually can bring myself to be. [Ha- I bet you can tell which thread I am referring to!] I like reading about you in this thread, too. You are so fashion savvy and I am totally jealous. I have been shopping for cute jeans lately but between my lack of budget and being only 5'' tall it''s gotten too difficult so I gave up! I bet if you were my friend you would help me shop for awesome clothes, hehe.

I would totally be your friend in real life and go shopping with you! Let me think...you're teeny tiny and you have a lack of budget...have you tried the Gap? They have a lot of fits, sizes and inseams and the washes look nice. Could be worth a try! Also the Levi's store if you can get to one-they have a ton of inseams and fits for not too much money. H&M has cute jeans sometimes, too, although I'm not sure about the inseams. And if you ever feel like spending too much money on designer jeans, I recommend Citizens of Humanity Dita (petite bootcut) or Kyle (petite straight leg). Although at 5' even you may still have to hem them!

I always get all riled up! Years on debate team taught me not much about keeping my head cool when I''m throwing the punches, haha. I think I''ve caused threads to be deleted before also. Oooopsss.

That sounds fun! I will definitely try Gap and the other places you mentioned. Someday when I''m not a broke student I will buy the designer jeans! I bought myself a tiny Coach wristlet the other day [I can''t wait for it to come!] and it''s the first designer thing I have *ever* owned.
23.gif
I will become an addict, for sure. I should also learn to hem or something. Everything is always sooooo long- I hate it!

I am finally easing back into PS again after fits of depression over politics as it intersects with my personal life, and still having a bit of trouble, but it''s fun to stop in to threads like this one that don''t remind me that I''m being forcibly divorced. *sigh* I just wish it was over already so I could stop thinking about it, ya know?

Anyways, enough about me! More about you!!! Maybe someone already asked you these questions [sorry!] but what are your favourite movies and books? What do you study in school? What does your FI say or think about your PS use? Wifey thinks I am NUTS but she loves to tell people I am obsessed with diamonds. I think she is secretly proud of me!
