#1 Ritani Would the little diamonds be hidden by your wedding ring? Try it on. I think they would show with my band.

#2 Lockes It looks interesting.

Can''t wait to see what you choose.

My vote is for the Ritani or the Locke''s solitaire. They both add a nice touch of pizzazz to an otherwise plain solitaire. As someone said even though they look somewhat similiar from a distance YOU will be seeing it close up all the time. To me the setting should be just as pleasing as the diamond.

1st pick Lockes, 2nd Vatche, 3rd Ritani. They are all great settings, though!

Rod, guys with good taste like you are always welcome to give input!

Stone Hunter, if I got a Ritani, I''d get a Ritani band and they are set very low which would allow the whole head of the diamond to show. My original band is yg, so I am not using it with the new ring.

Oh (he said blushing) Thank You!!!

hey DS, dee jay is visiting Pearlmans tomorrow in person. you should have her take some handshot pictures of that Ritani for you, with and without the wedding band...

WHAT???!!! Oh my gosh!!! I NEED to talk to DeeJay! It would help me SO much to see that one and there are a couple of others that I''d at least like to see a handshot of...especially with a band. Do you have her email address?

no but you can
ask her here . you could also email Bill and ask him to have them ready for her. I'm sure he knows she's bringing her camera

So glad I check back on this thread. Yes, I'm taking orders! Let me know what you want to see and I'll get pics tomorrow. Leaving eeeeeeearly tomorrow morning so I will probably be checking PS for the last time around 10 central tonight for requests!

I like the Locke''s. But, then, I''m partial to 6 prongs.

What about the Vatche Royal Crown? I really liked that when I tried it on in a store.

quick note re: the head of the ring being visible...in the ritani solitaire i like at BBB, my w-ring sits flush against it and the whole head is visible even with the w-ring against it, because the head scoops out of the band right above where a w-ring would fit. so it seems like even with a non ritani like mine it would be fine for seeing the whole head from a side view. that''s part of what i love about it!

#1 Ritani, love it

#2 Lockes something special about that setting

#3 Vatche

I know it''s a tough choice, but they are all gorgeous!!!

Ditto

OK, personally, the first one you posted is my least favorite (even imagining it with the diamond set low)... and the Lockes is (by a landslide!) my favorite. Gosh I ADORE that setting -- even more every day!

I know it''s insanely hard to choose... so think about these things. Do you prefer 4 prongs or 6? What about "cathedral" style vs. regular (non-cathedral)? Once you identify your favorite "style", narrowing it down may be a little easier. Well, I said "may"

Gosh, you are all so wonderful! I want to name you all individually, but I am absolutely going to have to leave the computer long enough to run some errands and find some food for my family! Haha!

I sent Dee Jay my picture order! I''m really excited about that!

Kristy, I think the RC is beautiful, but it''s not quite classic looking enough for me. Maybe that''s not the right word, but I''m afraid I might get tired of it, and the band is a little wider than I wanted, too.

Lynn, your settings are some of my very favorites on here, and if I had found my stone at WF, I''d probably just order a copy of yours in 2.5mm! But I decided the custom route was just too nervewracking, so I eliminated that option!

I love the fact that 4 prongs lets more of the diamond show, and I love the 6 thin elegant prongs on the Lockes. I love both. That''s why I can''t make a decision!!!

DS does your husband have a favorite or is he leaving it entirely up to you? When I was looking at rings I didn't think my hubby would have a preference, but when he saw the rings I had looked at in the jewelry store he quickly eliminated the ones he didn't like.

I have shown him several. Any of these he would like. He did not like the more ornate Tacori and Scott Kay settings. I definitely ran them by him just to eliminate something! But he''d of course want me to have whatever I wanted.

So he now asks me to come to his computer to look at listings for Porsche Boxters (used, not brand new, thankfully). I''m about as interested in that as he is in looking at diamonds! I think that car is beautiful (for a car), but it''s not something that really interests me. But since I''m getting a nice anniversary present, he should get one, too, I suppose. But I just don''t ask him to look at too many settings because I don''t want to have to look at too many cars!

Hi DS!! Sooo excited for you that you are getting close to picking a setting! I love love love the diamond you chose, and have been following your story, even though I haven''t really posted to your threads (I don''t think!).

I prefer 6 prongs to 4 and (having not seen any of them in person) my absolute #1 pick would be the Lockes! I just love that setting! Love the prongs, the cuppy look, the surprise diamonds, the shank.

I do really like the Ritani, Vatche, and SC as well, but with the Ritani & Vatche, the problem for me would be 4 prongs, and with the SC, although I love it, I just remember Demelza having issues finding a diamond band to go well with the knife edge. So my vote would be:

1. Lockes
2. Ritani (over the others because of the diamonds on the basket)
3. Vatche
4. SC

Not a huge fan of the Stuller, although I''m sure it''s also very pretty in person!

Can''t wait to see what you decide to go with!

I realize no one can decide for me, but if you have preferences among these, I'd be interested to hear.
I'm glad you said this, because I know exactly what you mean. When I ask for opinions, I sometimes feel like people don't like giving their opinions for that reason, but I too like to hear the comments etc., especially when I'm undecided about them. So if I'm not too late, I'll throw in my two cents.

For 4 prong, I'd go with Vatche. For 6 prong, the Lockes. At least, that's what I'd choose going only by the pictures here on this thread. I personally prefer 4 prong, so I'd probably choose that. Having said that, although I didn't read the whole thread, I kind of get the feeling that there is a nice Ritani that's a bit different than the one pictured here. Having seen other Ritanis at BB&B, I do usually like their heads etc..., so I might be swayed if I saw a nice picture of the one folks are referring to. The Ritani pictured seems to have sort of large shoulders, if that makes any sense. Although that could just be the picture; it might be much better in person. One last opinion - no offense, but the first one, Stuller tiffany, does NOTHING for me. That's my two cents, for what it's worth. Good luck! My own search got totally interrupted by something in late July/early August. I'll have to start it up again. I think I'm almost done - hopefully! - just have to make the final decision on the design (I'm 99% sure I'll have to go custom) and take the plunge.

Marta, awww, thanks for the nice words about my diamond and for your encouragement!

OFG, I was wondering if you had decided anything as well! It is very hard when there are so many beautiful choices! But it really does help to get the perceptions of others. It does sway me a little and I think that is good. I am very glad I asked, because we see praise and compliments for every ring posted on here almost, so it's hard to get an idea what people really like. By asking before I buy a setting, I can get more honest opinions because no one will worry about hurting my feelings!

I just wanted to say something I think about from time to time on here. Do you ever feel like the people on here are nicer and more helpful than a lot of people you know in real life?

I hear you DS, my husband got a Mercedes roadster convertible last year. Enough said.

At least you got a sense from your DH has he prefers the simpler designs. When my husband was at the jewelers the rings I had looked at were VERY different in style so it made it much easier for him to choose one he liked. Also the selection there was more limited than what you have available to you online.

I just look forward to your final choice so we can finally see this beauty on your hand!!! Still voting for Ritani or Locke''s.

Sundial, I think the sportscar thing must be some middle-aged thing, but I am thankful he''s looking at pretty cars and not other pretty things.
2.gif
(We have several things in common. I read on some old thread about your father having Alzheimers and my father does, too.
7.gif
)

I am recording all the votes!

I certainly agree with you that a sportscar is better than "other" midlife crisis things!!! So sorry to hear that your Dad has Alzheimer's. I really feel for you and your Mother. It is a HORRIBLE condition. My Dad passed away last year from complications due to his Alzheimer's and by that time it was simply a blessing.

Anyway on to happier topics. Just let us know which way you choose!!!

Ought oh -- *I* kinda want a sports car too
6.gif
. Oh no, I'm too young to have a mid life crisis. Well, OK, maybe not, LOL! But there is a gold 911 that has me thinkin'...

But back to your solitare DS!

Thanks, Sundial

DeeJay, oh, my husband would LOVE to have a 911 alright, but he knows better than to bring that up! That would make me have to upgrade that diamond BIGTIME!
9.gif
(Not really, but I hate things that depreciate in value and eventually cost more money to maintain!)

Decisions, decisions!! Well, you know what my top choice is DiamondSeeker!!!!
36.gif
I dont'' think I even have to tell you
2.gif
Sooooo, my second choice would be tied at the Vatche and the Ritani. I may not be much of a help there, but do what ever feels right.

Hey, try this - imagine one at a time, if you called up each of the jewelers tomorrow morning and told them you were ready to order each of the rings and every jeweler told you that you could NOT have it, which would give you that sick feeling in your stomach to know that you couldn''t have that ring???

i realize that they all look pretty much the same from a distance but you will be looking at it daily up close.
Ditto to this. Every time I look at my Stuller Solstice, I wonder if I should have gone with a designer setting. The problem with me was that I wanted the perfect bezel setting, but didn''t find what I wanted in a bezel so I went cheap. Now I am toying with resetting the stone, but am feeling strangely sentimental about this setting.

All that to say go with anything but the Stuller. You will see the difference.
