I dunno, that head sits pretty low on that one Dem...it doesn''t look flush-able..hehee.

You're probably right, but I just love it. It's so unusual and yet so classic. I feel like it would make my stone look huge! Unfortunately, they add on an additional $350 to make it in a 2 ct size. Urgh...

Demelza,

You may have seen this before. (It has certainly been posted before.) It may not answer your needs. As I keep reading about your not wanting the bands to be "eaten away", though, I keep thinking of my set. (It was custom made by my local jeweler in Connecticut: Grunberger Jewelers.) The jackets are very well protected from scratching by their construction. The stone from the solitaire never touches the stones in the jackets. Just a thought!

Deb :-)

I am not sure entirely what you are looking for with your new setting, if you are still willing to consider one with diamonds that will not "eat" your band and vice versa you may want to look at Winfields. I think this setting is simple and I particurly like the way the shank joins the head with a little sweep.

After searching through PS posts I cannot find one I was looking for. But I think it was Patty who a while back posted a ring Wink had made her with an interlap as the center. It was preally lovely, just enough smooth and round but not overly detailed, more classic. I will keep looking and attach a link if I ever find it.

Deb -- Your ring is very cool. I''ve never seen a design like that. I think I''m wanting something different, though, from what I have now. I am really loving the simple solitaire with eternity band look. I wish I wasn''t so fickle. That can get very expensive, but I do think that if I can get just the right look, I should be happy for a long while.

Mat -- That''s a beautiful ring. And I think Wink''s a cool guy so would love to do business with him. But my heart belongs to a solitaire right now.

I''m actually contemplating a six prong Tiffany replica. I never thought I would go for six prongs and I''m still not sure, but the fluid lines of those Tiffany replicas are enticing. I think I might prefer the Superbcert to the WF, but I''m not sure why. I''m not really sure what the difference is.

Demelza,
Can you post pics of them side by side so we can see the differences between them?? I do love the look of a solitaire with an eternity ring. Such a pretty look!!!

I''m not sure I know how to post them side by side, but here''s the WF version.

I''m going to try and post the Vatche I also liked.

Thanks. They are both very pretty. The second one looks a little more delicate??? Hard to tell by their pic though. Maybe someone can put them side by side for all of us to see. Wish I could, but you guys know how lame I am at that, Lol. Demelza which one do you prefer??? I was posting while you put the 3rd ring by Vatche up, have to say I like that one too. That is 4 prongs though.

Trying again to post the SC mount.

When you say the second one, do you mean the Superbcert version or the Vatche??

I don''t know which one I like more. There''s something kind of strange about the Vatche, but I think I like it.

Another pic of the SC version.

And another....

Last one...

I love the SC one. I like it because it''s so fluid, and a little more delicate. The Vatche is cool too. It''s a totally different look though. Hmmmm

I agree about the SC being more delicate than the WF. I''m also wondering whether the Vatche can be made to accomodate a 2+ ct stone. It''s not clear from the website. I''m also worried about doing six prongs. I worry it will make my stone look smaller.

I like 4 pongs, I want to see more of the stone and not the prongs, but that''s just me.

The fluting in the SC ring goes up higher then the WF one. The true Tiffany seting is closer to the WF one though neither is exact, both are lovely. I dont think a six prong will make it look smaller. My mother is from Tiffany''s in their classic setting and is just a bit larger then yours and looks quite lovely on her hand, not at all small.

Don''t like the Vatche, it looks too squished from the side on a bit metal ring. Side views are so important to me...I like it when the heads are more ''spready'' esp for larger stones.

I like the SC one because it looks like it has more room on the bottom for something to sit flush to it.

But I don''t like the top view SC prongs because they look HUGE. The WF ones are smaller in rings we have seen around here (and they can shave them down for you if they are not...)...

Both are beautiful...hard to say. See if SC can shave down the tips of the prongs so they are less noticeable.

I do love the WF one...people here have gotten it and the head is very beautiful. Someone here also did a blend of the Fine Line with the Tiffany head and it turned out stunning. I think it was Hawaii 5-0? I put his ring in the Custom WF thread. I really liked that blend too.

I'll check it out. I was doing a search of and found this collage that someone put together. I don't know whose ring it is, but the poster said it was a Stuller solstice.

It would allow a band to sit flush, but the lines aren't as fluid as the SC or WF version. Hmmmm...

I prefer the WF one. And Im also a 6 prong girl. It makes the stone look round since it is round and makes me feel like it''s more secure. And if I was sporting over 2 cts, Id be wanting fort knox on my finger.

Here''s another much cheaper alternative. Patty posted this in another thread. I could do the 4 prong low setting??

Those are the Stuller Solstice's that Patty posted. They are the heads of the rings. Basically they can be soldered into the band or ONTO the band, aka allowing something to sit flush against it. Stuller may sell them with the band already attached like in that image, but you can also just buy the head. aka WF gets a Stuller head for my ring and plunks it onto my existing band (well more professionally of course) for my new stone.

My head is the 4 prong medium height stuller solstice I think (or maybe the low..actually I think I do have the low) I really like it but it kind of squishes the head a bit. Though maybe with a 2.35c stone it won't look squished, I think that is a smaller stone phenomenon. aka I have posted pics of my 1.60c in the 4 prong and it spreads out quite a bit, much more than my 1.29 and I figure if I do a stuller again next time then it will spread out even more if I request the stone to sit lower.

It sounds like if I want a band to sit flush, I should solder a Solstice head onto a band. I guess it''s a trade off -- do you want a more fluid looking design or a flush-fitting set?

I dug up this pic of Solange''s gorgeous 4ct stone in the WF tifffany setting. Oh, how I wish my stone were that huge!!!

And here's Deggles' 1.11 in the SC version.

(I hope I'm not driving you all crazy with my obsession.)
