#JOTW Purple Garnets Show and Tell

I've been meaning to post these earrings my sweet friend got me for Christmas. They are from Yvonne Raley, and the setting is similar to my necklace. Though they aren't from the same find as my JW pear, and are a bit lighter, I think they are a beautiful purple and am enjoying wearing them with my necklace.

I love everything purple, but have not yet set mine. I would like to get PSers' feedback on the setting - it seems to me that Mosambique (and other) purple garnets darken in a setting, is it so? What has been your experience with types of setting you used?

Here's my ring, set in green gold. It's part of a stacking ring set that I wear regularly. The garnet is a pastel pyrope from Jeff Hapeman.
