Jaaron, I have to wear a strapless. I don't love them but I cannot go braless either! Love the emerald ring.

Missy, the link doesn't work :( I was worried the shoes I posted were too casual.

Monarch, I saw the shoes you were wearing at the GTG. I am a wimp! But I will check them out! Thanks. I think I have a few nude sandal/heels I could always wear too.

Pinto, you don't need to cover up his bad behavior. Let it unfold the way it will and take care of yourself. Wish I could be closer to give you more emotional support. Text me anytime.

AZ, BEAUTIFUL bands!!!

Hi to anyone I missed!!!!

Ladies, this week has probably been one of the most stressful work weeks in my career. Wow. Just when I think I put out enough fires, another one is started. The weekend is SO close but I go on vacation in three weeks. I gotta hang in there!

NIRDI Babes: I posted an actual SMTB thread for this even though its a modest jewel; there are more pics on it. (I posted this on SMTB because I feel like Pricescope needs more SMTB to it/less Trump lol).

Thank you, Tacori! Ooooh, 3 weeks off, the BOMB! If memory serves, you are in a caregiving profession, so 3 weeks is minimum and 4 weeks would be better, right? That dress you bought is so so pretty, let us know what shoes you decided on!

Pinto, I feel ya here. When I hit 50 I pretty much stopped doing stuff I didn't want to do. I practiced saying "No, but thank you for thinking of me/us." It works really well. No explanations with it, as No is a complete sentence (when you put a period . on it) and besides, excuses are just excuses. Here is my handy mnemonic I used to carry in my bag:

JADE
Do Not:
Justify.
Argue.
Defend.
Explain/excuse.

Anytime you're in a conversation or negotiation with another *person and you find yourself going in one of those directions, just end politely and get out. (* I do not apply JADE to my husband {we have arguments, thank God; husband #1 and I never had an argument because he ran the show} and certain friends because they do get an explanation from me---they are my peeps, after all).

I WISH I was going for 3 weeks. I actually only get 3 weeks a year of PTO :angryfire: so I am only taking a week off *in* 3 weeks. I work in a very undervalued field. :( The dress is pretty. I am pale so hoping I don't look too washed out. Oh well.

Missy, I was so hoping you were going to say today was a good day at work. Are you feeling you are reaching the point where you just want to quit or do you think they will wake up and see the error of their ways? It is all fixable if management will listen to your complaints and make improvements. Today sounded as bad as yesterday. I'm sorry things aren't better.

Pinto Bean, I've met you and you are very pretty. Go shopping and find a cute outfit that you feel good in. if you need help picking things that look good on your body type ask a sales associate for help. Every few people out there have a perfect figure but everyone can look great. We women are way too hard on ourselves. Finding something you feel good in is key. You are going to look beautiful at that dinner. You looked beautiful when I met you! I'm going to say something now that you can just ignore if it isn't helpful. It may be a blessing if your husband's family finds out about his alcohol addiction. They may be able to get thru to him and help him realize he needs help. At the very least they may be offer you some support.

Tacori, as Monnie suggested DSW is always a great place to go look for shoes.

Jaaron, I love both rings but perfer the emerald one! Which one are you going to get? You must know by now that I pretty much agree with everything you write in the political threads. I had a long conversation with an aunt this morning that had me wanting to pull my hair out. I felt like I was listening to Fox News.

Rainwood, Thank you for the beautiful pictures! You know I feel your pain on all things regarding politics.

Kristie, I love both your bands.

Marcy, I hope things improve with Marty's business. I would think it would take a bit of time to get members. I hope he isn't getting discouraged. Are you feeling better.

CJ, Is your eye completely better now? What did you decide about the graduation gift?

HI Monnie!

Good morning girls!

Tacori, hopefully this link works. IDK what happened cause I checked it out before I posted it. Weird. Please let me know if this doesn't work.
http://www.dhgate.com/product/2016-new-women-shoes-with-low-heel-chunky/385708004.html

I am sorry you are dealing with work stress and I hope everything gets resolved to your satisfaction and I hope in 3 weeks you enjoy your week vacation and forget all about work and other stuff and just enjoy!

Pinto I hear you on dreading the family occasion but I know all you can do is be your wonderful funny self and too bad if evil SIL or anyone else doesnt like it. One thing I have learned through the decades is all you can do is be yourself and too bad if others don't appreciate you or are judgmental about who you are. It is more about them than you and I find unhappy people do that most. Judge and criticize others for no good reason. I know one thing for sure. You are beautiful - inside where it counts and on the outside too and you are too hard on yourself. Don't let the extra lbs get you down. And as Callie wisely wrote NO one has a perfect body and everyone can find something that looks great on them and it is just a matter of finding the right style/shape etc. I am happy to help you dress shop as you have so kindly helped me. I love that dress you shared with me yesterday but I got home so late from work I didn't check it out on my home computer yet so I will do that later. Anyway I want you to know you *are* beautiful in all the ways that count but I know you are also beautiful on the outside too so you have it going on girl!

Jaaron, did you make any decisions re the rings? I LOVE that go to dress of yours and I would own it in many colors too LOL so you are not alone there. When I find something I love I usually buy multiples and sometimes not just in different colors but in the same colors too haha. Don't ask how many duplicate dresses/pants and boots and sandals I own because it is embarrassing. But hey when you find something that works and you can afford to buy a few of them why not? I tend to be hard on my shoes and clothing somehow so I need extras. :cheeky:

As for the political threads I don't have a strong enough stomach to deal with some of the unpleasant and unkind people here and though they are so few in number they seem to monopolize many of the political threads spewing nonsense and stupidity and meanness so I stay away and don't even read the threads at all. Though I have blocked one of the PSers whose name starts with a J I haven't blocked anyone else and don't feel like going through that minefield. So I don't. But all the more power to you for braving it and wading through it all. I support you completely and agree with everything I ever read that you have written politically so I feel you speak for me at least and you do it much better than I ever could so thank you!

Scandi Any updates re your contractor and your house? I am keeping good thoughts for you. How are you feeling?

You are a doll and thank you for those good wishes yesterday. Work was crazy again and I wish I could share my schedule with you. I had 2 11AMs 2 11:20 AMs and the madness continued all day with patients waiting an average of 3 hours for me. It is so NOT OK. My poor guys and also the staff who brings them. Some of them were so upset (not with me) and I felt their pain. Some of them worked double shifts and now were working even longer due to the long waiting times to see me and I felt so badly about it all. For the patients, for their staff and lastly for me for not having even a second to breathe or eat anything except some almonds quickly in between so as not to pass out. I cannot go long periods of time without eating as my blood sugar dives and I get dizzy. And I was also dehydrated and it was just unpleasant.

The kicker is when everyone shows up to see me who is on my schedule I am seeing a good number of patients in the same number of hours as my full day. However this way they are all squeezed in there to get there by an earlier time together pretty much so they wait all those hours vs the old schedule. The old schedule they are booked every 30-45 minutes and it is more spaced out and they don't wait as long and I am there the same number of hours either way. But with the new schedule the patients end up being there much longer because the admin has them all coming within a short period of time. The reason for the new schedule is if there are no shows I leave earlier than if they are spaced out and there are no shows. Example if every patient is booked into my schedule from 11AM to 2PM and there are no shows I leave by 3PM. But the old schedule I was booked from morning to late afternoon so if there are no shows I still had to wait till a bit after the last appointment to leave in case they came. So more hours if there are no shows but same hours if everyone shows because I can only see one patent at a time no matter what right?

Truly the patents and staff the accompanies them suffers the most with this ridiculous new schedule. Ugh.

Kristie, love all the bands and they look fab on you. If I were doing multiple bands I might put the thicker band on my left hand and take a few thinner bands and stack them. How about an emerald stacker and a french cut diamond stacker of a similar width to your sapphire stacker? I think those would be pretty with the sapphire stacker you just got and put the ruby band on your other hand or on your middle finger and keep the stackers on your ring finger. Just sharing an idea about that.
Might not appeal to you though.

ETA: What is going on with Maggie? Just read there is a health issue with Maggie in your SMTB thread. Did I miss it here? What is going on and how is she
doing? Sending her bucket loads of healing dust and big (((Hugs))).

Callie, thank you for listening and supporting me and all
your wise advice. I don't think the admin cares at all what have to say so I am saving my breath. This will play out and either way I will be OK. This I know. I might not be happy but I will deal with whatever happens and as you know if I cannot make this work without compromising my patient's care or my well being I will leave. If the admin doesn't like the way I am handling this they can fire me and if I can't deal with it I can quit. So once again I am taking it one day at a time and sometimes one hour at a time. It is surreal being at work having 8 patients all there waiting for me and knowing it will be hours and hours till I get to some of them :blackeye: and they all still just wait. ::)

Have a good Friday girls. Woohoo it is Friday!8-):wavey:

Hello girls :wavey:

No idea where to begin, lol.

Kristie, bankruptcy here is a bit common with builders, because the specialised ones are often rather small firms. It is rather easy to check up front, you can access financial highlights. But we wanted this company because they are really high quality carpenters - which is what we needed for the "inside work", floors, ceilings etc. (But yes, also very expensive, but they had made a bad judgement on a large fixed price contract and ended up not being able to cover even the cost of the materials.. - better carpenters than business people, lol) Oh well. Not a disaster, it will probably just mean about a week in delays. They will start up another firm and go along their marry way again after Easter. Any we never pay for anything upfront, so no economic consequences for us.

Missy, are you taking Easter holiday from work? They so do not deserve you! I'm mad at them. How can they treat you - and the patients! - like that?? It is beyond me, that can't possibly even be a profitable strategy in the long(er) run.

Marcy, to bad about no/few clients for Marty. I have no good ideas, I'm afraid. He can come here and train me?? I sure could use someone to kick me in the b*t some of the days.. LOL

Jaaron, that leads me to you! I'm sure your dogs kicks you out the door the same way my furbaby does with me? And I *know* that you are just lovely, just like your precious dogs! So no false modesty, thank you very much... :lol-2::lol-2::lol-2: I'm so envious of you living in London with netaporter "at your door" - here, it's a week at best... sigh! But I'm good at shopping from them anyway... lol and also in the stores.... I have always heard that "practice makes perfect!". ;-)

Missy, I hope you have not forgotten that you have promised to take me shopping this summer.... :appl::appl::appl::appl: I missy you already honey, even before meeting and leaving you! And NYC, of course. Shopping here is just not the same.... :lol-2:

Jimmianne, come shopping with us?? I have a feeling we NIRDIs together could do some serious damage in those stores... CALLIE - you too!! I'm in a "let's go girls" kind of mood today! Good thing for my credit card that I have to be at work today.... But seriously though Callie! Shoes? Choos? You? Me? Fly my way after Easter?? Oh and Jimmianne, please bring the new truck as a getaway vehicle for Missy and me...

Kristie, I love your new ring! Thank you for the bling pictures :) :) And that ruby band also! Totally amazing! Can I have it please? Now that you have a new one, I mean...?

Jaaron, I forgot my point! Your dogs are totally beautiful, and therefore so are you! You have to be, you see, because you know what they say here - "as owner as dog", meaning that the dog will become like its owner

Missy, ref HRH - you should probably go dressless... she is very *very* pretty without a dress you know.. and "as owner as dog - eh kitty..." :lol-2::lol-2::lol-2:

CJ, that is so nice of you to want to make graduation special for your niece!!! I think that is what she will remember and why it will be special for her - the fact that you are trying so hard and thinking of her! I agree with the others - taking her shopping might be just perfect !

Pinto, I have not met you, but I know you are pretty on the inside - and seriously - not a lot of people are! So that's that, in my book! If you don't want to go, don't go. And if you want to go - buy a nice dress and have fun!! Besides, I trust Callie completely, and if she says that you are beautiful, you are honey! So head up high! And I'm sure that there must be something fun in that situation..? Perhaps by saying "oh honey, I'm so sorry, I thought you had bought a new house because you wanted to trade *up*...??" Sorry. Just my black personality showing through.... But seriously! If you go, try to relax and have some fun. You can not control what people think or say - only whether or not you care.. Hugs!

Hi girls!

Missy, thank you for the supportive words, you are such a comfort. And I am here to always lend you the same support, please know that. (((hugs))). I am just so sorry for the issues going on at work. I understand how upsetting it is for you that your patients have to wait so long for their appointments, even though it is not your fault. I'm so happy that they understand. But it is cruel that the clinic makes people wait for such long periods of time and I just can't fathom how management can think it's acceptable. And it puts you in the awkward and uncomfortable position of having to apologize all the time…for something that is not your doing. Hang in there, and I'm holding out hope that somehow it gets better, someway. But if not I totally understand not wanting to subject yourself to the stress and aggravation anymore.

Your dream dress is beautiful! But honestly I think you look fabulous in the 2 dresses you have as well.

Very glad to hear your skin issue wasn't sunburn and it cleared up quickly for you. Whew!

CJ, if I come across that Joel Osteen clip I'll post it for you. The baby is home now and is doing well, thanks for asking about him! I'm late with this, but I've always given a check for graduations and I've never given a prom gift. But since it's your niece and you are close to her, I can see where you would want to treat her to a little something, maybe a pair of dressy earrings or bracelet for her to wear to the prom? It wouldn't have to be expensive. I was in Lord and Taylor the other day they had some really pretty sparkly costume earrings at reasonable prices. I was tempted to get something for myself lol. I think $200 is a good amount for a graduation gift. It must be so exciting for you to see you niece going through such a special time in her life.

Marcy, yes, at least we are a constant source of entertainment for ourselves! I'm so sorry you're having some tough days at work. And omg to that woman just walking out! Talk about drama. And lol to you wishing some of your employees would do the same thing. I'm sending lots of good wishes that Marty gets some clients soon - it can take a while to build up a clientele and I hope he hangs in there and doesn't let it get him too down. The weather here is ok but I'm greedy and I want sunny and 70!

Scandi, I hope your cold is better by now, I've had one as well this past week so I sympathize with you. I am so sorry about the company possible going bankrupt, that is an added stress you certainly don't need and I hope if it does happen it won't hold up construction for too long.

Love the dresses you posted for Missy. Omg she would look stunning in any of them.

Rainwood, thank you so much for the pics of those gorgeous jewels, absolutely amazing! I adore that last necklace. Thanks for your nice words too, I am hanging in there and trying to enjoy the good things going on as much as I can.

Tacori, I like the shoes with the gold straps too. I also like the second pair you posted. Sorry that work has been so stressful for you; you must really be looking forward to vacation. I'm really upset that you only get 3 weeks vacation, you have a very demanding and draining job and deserve more of a break than that. :(

Jaaron, the baby is home now and doing well, thanks for thinking of him. Thanks for sharing your experience with the bunion surgery too. It's great it helped you. I think about it but I don't know if it's worth it in my case right now; the discomfort comes and goes. Not sure mine are bad enough right now for a doctor to agree to surgery. Yes, I have heard the recovery from the surgery is lengthy. I'll probably get a doctor's opinion at some point. I do hate having them, they're unsightly and when they flare up it's really uncomfortable.

Both rings are really beautiful!!! I love emeralds and would love to own one someday so the emerald ring gets my vote, it is gorgeous  and looks fantastic on your hand. The overall shape of it is so flattering. A tough decision but both are so pretty that you can't go wrong with either one :appl:

Kristie, I love your new band, soooo pretty! Getting something pretty to wear really lifts the spirits, doesn't it? Great choice, I know you'll get a lot of enjoyment from it.

Pintobean, big hugs to you, I totally understand how you're feeling. Honestly, I think once you are there you will be ok, a lot of times it's the anticipation that's the worst part; once the event is underway it usually goes by quickly and isn't as bad as expected. I agree with the others, treat yourself to a new outfit you feel good in and just try to relax, be yourself, and do your best not to worry about what others think…because it truly doesn't matter what they think! And I'm sorry MIL shared something so private when you didn't want her to. But…worrying that people are going to find out is probably causing you a lot of anxiety, and it might be a relief to be free of that burden. I am sorry though, it does sound like it has upset you and you don't need that right now. (((hugs)))

Well, the weekend is here, I hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Thanks Junebug. I agree! I think everyone deserves at least 4 weeks a year (so a week a quarter). I also don't have separate sick days. I can take days unpaid if needed but that's last resort. My hospital "gifts" five extra PTO days every five years. If I stay there I will get another week in three years. Haha. Can't wait.

Thanks for the link Missy. I tend to stick with zappos (for easy returns) since I am so picky. I ran through DSW today but nothing stood out. I am going to go through my current shoes this weekend as I tend to forget what I already own.

It's Friday!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend. I plan to sleeeeep. Today was a great day. NO ONE IN CRISIS! I actually left work at 1:00 because I have been working so many extra hours.

Hi NIRDIs!

Rainwood, thank you for the pictures of some of the fabulous jewelry at the Smithsonian. Yes that color of sapphire is stunning. I love the diamond necklace too. When Marty was in London he was going to go see the crown jewels but the line was so long they would have closed the doors by the time he got to the door. I was sure he was going to bring me home a sample. Spring is here for a few days. I’m not willing to put any money on it staying here though. Is it nice there or are you having a lot of rain?

Missy, I hope you have a dry and sunny weekend. Thank you for thinking of us; I’m trying to not stress and see what happens. I loved the gorgeous houses on the beach in Big Little Lies but if I had to have all that drama and such to live there; I’ll keep my house in Wyoming. Yes, the story was a bit of a stretch. I usually don’t watch that type of show but once I watched one episode I was hooked. I have to see this through. That is awful some of your patients had to wait so long to see you. Their new scheduling system doesn’t sound like a good idea to me. I am glad your patients understood and the staff let you know you handled things well. That is too bad the administration appears to be okay with the new changes.

Jaaron, I love that dress. Very pretty. I like the idea of having clothing delivered to my door and they even come back and pick up what you want to return. Sweet. I had to laugh about your comment of getting up off the floor slowly – is there any other way? A guy at work gave me a sign that I hung up in my cube. It says “I don’t exercise. If god wanted me to exercise there would be diamonds all over the floor”. I like your idea of taking Jimmianne’s sledgehammer to work. I often ask Marty if I can Gibbs slap someone, just once? Marty’s gym rent is only $375 so if he can find even a few full-time clients that would pay his rent. So far not a single nibble though. I don’t even want to add up what his business owes us. I always believe there is no sense getting so stressed you can’t laugh about things and try to enjoy life. My negative, bitter employees make me glad I try to live that way. I do have some medicine I can take for food allergy reactions but I don’t carry any with me. I should. I’ve had my throat swell shut a few times and so I am generally pretty careful about what I eat. Both of those rings are fabulous. Did you keep one of them?

Scandi, how are you holding up? Glad to hear you don’t pay for anything up front. People usually do here and then end up losing that money. I am sure Marty would love to come see your neck of the woods and would give you a training session while he’s there.

Kristie, I really like the idea of a keepsake with money for a gift. Those kind of things are such treasures over the years. My Porsche is doing well thanks. I still really enjoy driving it. There are 2 spots (one going to work and one coming home from work) that are usually wide open and I can easily see if any police are around that I will really punch it. That always puts a smile on my face. When I pull in the garage I rev up the engine. My father would be proud of me. I love your sapphire eternity band and it does look fabulous with your ruby band. I don’t have an eternity band but I bet they are fabulous. How about a full diamond eternity band in platinum? I am sure whatever one you find will look great. JADE is perfect; I am going to have to remember that. I copied that and put it in my stickies ap.

PintoBean, I hate to hear about your husband. I understand dreading going to a family GTG this weekend with some relatives who don’t sound so nice. I agree with Callie that maybe if your husband’s family finds out about his alcohol addiction they may be able to convince him to get help. Maybe make a bingo card for your phone that you can amuse yourself with it by crossing off the square to see how long it takes to get a Bingo and a blackout. As you probably noticed I am easily amused and I am always thinking up things I could say (but never would) to stir up things with the nasty or bitter people in my family. I hope the day turns out to be a pleasant surprise and you have a nice time. I also agree with what Callie, Missy, Scandi and June said about you being a lovely person and try not to worry about what other people think; I know it’s easier said than done but people that judge you or look down their nose at you aren’t worth knowing.

Tacori, pretty spring flowers in your avatar. Sorry to hear work has been so stressful. Good deal you have vacation to look forward to in a few weeks. Where are you going? We will be busy at work for about 5-6 more weeks then we’ll have about 3 months of slow time. Yeah for no one in crisis today!

Callie, you are so right women are very hard on themselves. I could list off 2 dozen things about me I don’t like without even thinking about it. I think Marty is getting discouraged; he hasn’t been himself this week. He is playing golf this weekend so hopefully that will perk him up.

June, I am delighted to hear the baby is doing well and at home now. I can fantasize about one of my employees walking out. I guess I just have to say some of those smart comments that I usually keep internalized. That might do the trick. Hopefully your weather gets warm and sunny soon.

I too am delighted it’s Friday. I have to work for a little while tomorrow but hopefully we’ll have a quiet weekend and I won’t have to work much.

Marty has a tee time both days this weekend but Sunday may be too chilly to play golf. That should brighten his mood (unless he gets aggravated at how he plays anyway).

We went to supper with friends last night. I had 2 glasses of wine and was so tired when we got home I didn’t even clean my jewelry. I wore them again today and not a single person commented on how dirty my diamonds looked today.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Good morning girls! Sunny but chilly here but we will take it!

Scandi, I cannot wait to see you and your family and we will do whatever you want. After we see Adam that is!;-)
Though everything will be a letdown to the kids after seeing The Lion King. I will not be able to compare to that. So I better figure out what terrific gifts I can get them.
I am glad the contractor issues will be resolved and only result in some (more) delays. Not so terrible in the grand scheme of things and thank goodness it isn't worse. Fingers continue to be crossed for you and a happy outcome!

Marcy, love the flowers. Haha about not cleaning your jewels and they still look fabulous. I bet they do. Glad you love driving your Porsche. Hope Marty's golf games go well this weekend. And yay it's the weekend. No work worries (hopefully) for a few days and enjoy!

Jimmianne, hey there. What is going on by you? Anything new?

Junie so happy the baby is home and doing well. Looks like your warming up weather wishes will be coming true by Monday and Tuesday. Though the weekend is still a bit chilly. Thank you for your support and I am looking forward to getting together with you and having fun when I am not working which might be sooner than later. Anyway I am excited to have that to look forward to Junie.:appl:

Tacori, yes I love the ease of easy shipping and returns. And while I love Zappos I notice their prices can be higher than other sites. I love bargain shopping but sometimes the ease of convenience is more than worth the extra cost. Good luck finding beautiful comfortable shoes. Yay for weekends and stress free days. Enjoy!

Pinto, have fun tonight and just be yourself! To know you is to love you! Unless someone is jealous and then too bad for them. Sending you lots of warm thoughts and good luck vibes.

Have a good Saturday girls!:wavey:

Thanks Junebug. I agree! I think everyone deserves at least 4 weeks a year (so a week a quarter). I also don't have separate sick days. I can take days unpaid if needed but that's last resort. My hospital "gifts" five extra PTO days every five years. If I stay there I will get another week in three years. Haha. Can't wait.

Thanks for the link Missy. I tend to stick with zappos (for easy returns) since I am so picky. I ran through DSW today but nothing stood out. I am going to go through my current shoes this weekend as I tend to forget what I already own.

Zara has some ell priced shoes. Kitten heels are very easy to wear.

Marcy, Its warm here too this weekend, I'm glad Marty is golfing today as I'm sure it will improve his mood, Please tell him to be patient. It isn't reasonable to expect to have a full schedule of clients when you first begin a business. It takes time. We are going to lunch with my nephew today, afterward going to a golf store. Doesn't that sound like fun! I would much prefer going to Nordstrom. Thank you for the flower picture. I can wait to see flowers in my yard.

PInto Bean, Sending lots of happy dust your way to get you thru the day. Hopefully things will go well and won't be as bad as your anticipating.

Thank you my lovely NIRDIs! Your words felt like a group hug from around the world!

When my husband started getting texts at 3 asking when we are leaving, and I was coming out of a nap, I said f it. He was anxious once they texted him that everyone else was there and frankly I didn't want to be arguing with him the drive there. The only info they gave us previously was that dinner is at 530 and the son had a baseball game earlier in the day followed by lacrosse practice and they'd be home by 230.:hand: Some alone time is good for me.

Hi NIRDIs!

Jimmianne, I think flowers can always brighten your day.

Missy, I am enjoying being lazy today; I just am doing chores around the house. Glad you had a sunny day and I saw on FB you were out seeing cute kitties. Fun!

Tacori, that is nice you get 5 vacation days added every 5 years. That is basically what my company does. With our recent company change I lost an additional week of vacation (I would have received it in 2 more years) plus I would have gotten 4 bonus days for reaching 20 years. Now I have 4 weeks of vacation a year; they rolled our 1 week of sick time in with vacation time.

Hi Sharon,

Callie, I agree it will take some time for Marty to find some clients. I am sure your DH enjoyed going to the golf store today. I would rather have gone to Nordstroms too. I hope lunch with your nephew was fun. I am sure you are anxious to get your flowers going again this spring. I bet your yard is gorgeous.

Pinto, I am glad you stayed home and didn’t have to deal with the stress and strain of your husband’s family. I hope you had a relaxing day.

Kristie, I’d way rather see pictures of cactus than scorpions. Yuck! Have you seen any more of those critters?

Thank you, ladies, I am glad you enjoyed the flowers; they came from ftp instead of FTD. Boo, bad; I know.
I tried to sleep in but they are building a house 2 down from us so they started working about 7 am. Ugh. That will be going on all summer. Phooey.
Marty played golf and I met him for lunch about 1 today. Some friends are coming by for cards tonight but not much else is going on this weekend.
I dialed in to work once today but so far nothing else has come up for work.

Take care.
Marcy

Marcy, sorry you lost a week. I would be super annoyed. I wish we got one day per year. The five year thing seems so far away but I guess I see why they do it from their perspective. That sucks about the construction noise. I am a really light sleeper so it would bother me too.

Tacori, 5 years is far away, that would be nice to get an additional day every year. I was not happy to lose that extra week and really hated to hear the new company doesn't give the service award days. I know the people who had already been there 20 years and lost a week were not happy about the change. I am a very light sleeper too; I swear I can hear a gnat fly by and I can't get ear plugs in right for serious money. They kind of hang out of my ears; I've tried all sizes and shapes and they just come right back out. Marty laughs at them all of the time.

How about white noise? Running a fan helps me.

That is a good idea Tacori. When I was in college I slept with the radio on really low; it was enough to block out all the dorm and apartment building noise.

Hi Marcy:wavey:,

You could try going to youtube and searching for "sleep music" to play. I see options varying from 45 minutes to 8 hours!

Gulp!:shifty: I bought my first old cut piece! This is supposed to be my bling free year! :lol-2: I made an exception with the YG dbty I just ordered from IDJ (7x0.25) recently, so I was thinking that I was truly done for the year! But the ring is beautiful and it's MY SIZE!

April showers are doing their Magic! A bunch of hyacinths are opening up! I see purples and blues and pinks! The buds on my hydrangeas survived the freak snow storms and they are growing! I see some narcissus - I'm not sure if they are the ones I planted last fall. I planted 255 bulbs.... I'm starting to think that a bunch of them fed squirrels...

PintoBean, congrats on the ring. We can say we are done buying, but then the fever hits. How lovely that you give in to beauty! hey! where are the photos?? : )

Mary, I wonder if one could sleep with noise-cancelling headphones on? They really work. and additionally would drown out certain people laughing when you wear them. Let me know if you find a good solution, please.
We have foxes around the house this spring. Very noisy at night with weird cries.

Yesterday I visited my young friends' mushroom farm up in the woods where they are going to build their house. It looks really cool with Tibetan prayer flags flying over the stacks of shiitake logs & many stone sculptures. We then walked along the creek and discovered a grove of wild pink azalea trees. I've been here over 17 years and had never seen them before! The dogwoods and redbuds are in bloom too and look beautiful with the chartreuse of the new leaves on all the big trees. The dogs had a blast running free in the woods. The young friends' dog is sleek like a deer, but Issy looks like a toy stuffed animal and seemed incongruous running out in the wild. I came home and made an onion, steak & potato and tomato stir fry and ate enough for two people. Went to bed early and now here it is 2am, which is 8am in France. If I can do this every day I'll be over my jet lag before I go!

Good morning girls!

Marcy, I'm sorry- that sucks about losing vacation days. I am glad you were enjoying being lazy today. Hope that trend continues and yay for the sun. LOL yes we were and I will share some pics here too. It was heaven for me and I suspect for Greg haha animal lover that he is now:love:
Hope there will be no dialing in to work for anybody today.

I am sorry you are so sensitive to noise when you sleep. Being an urban girl I sleep with noise and lights outside and the only reason they don't keep me awake is the noise in my brain is far louder.:snore:::) Hopefully some of the good advice the other girls have shared with you can help you find relief. When Greg and I were dating I bought a soundscape machine from Sharper Image for when he traveled and he always set it to ocean waves. Now we have our own Ocean waves to help us fall asleep.

Pinto, good for you! Glad you did what you wanted and enjoyed your day. Boo to manipulative family members and hooray to you for taking charge and not playing their game. Not an easy thing to do and you should be proud of yourself for putting you first!

And woohoo so love the old cut piece you just bought! Please share it here when it arrives OK?
Cannot wait to see your spring flowers.:appl:

Jimmianne LOL don't do that. You are going to be in France long enough to recover from your jet lag while you are there so enjoy being in our time zone while you are here...live in the moment you are in...just my .02 cents.:wink2: All those lovely flowers on your friend's farm sound beautiful. How lovely all the spring colors are.

As some of you already know we had a wonderful day filled with amazing animals yesterday. OMG I was in pure bliss. Best Friends NY Soho. Incredible cats and dogs looking for loving homes. And I have to say all of them are just amazing!
