Hi,

I have been searching for a new ring for my 10 year anniversary, and I am having such a hard time making a final decision.

I currently have a .56 marquise, H-I, I1. Never thought it was a bad stone until I started reading this site.....lol.

Can I please get some opinions on this Ideal Scope?

Thanks in advance for any opinions or responses.

Hi,

Thanks Julie, I was concerned about that as well.

Hi kimmy :wavey:

The advice you'll receive on here is that cut is the absolute most important factor in choosing a diamond. A poorly cut stone won't have the sparkle, fire and will look much smaller than a very good cut or lower.
Color is subjective-but you state that your current marquise is an H. Unless it has an actual GIA cert take that with a grain of salt. Almost all uncarted diamonds are actually several grades lower in color than stated by jewelry stores.
An excellent/ideal cut diamond in a lower color such as I/J/K will face-up beautifully and most likely be much whiter than any ungraded stone. Many, many PS members seek out I/J/K diamonds to reach a larger size and have jaw-dropping rings.
These are women who are on this daily and own loads of amazing jewelry. My point in telling you this is if $4.2k is your budget you can shop for stones below H in color, buy an ideal or excellent cut diamond in a nice carat weight.

Here are a few suggestions for you; http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2829732.htm

I didn't run these through the HCA, just wanted show you some options.

I have a K EC btw and am very happy with my choice.

HI Woofmama,

Thanks for attaching those links, they look like beautiful stones. I am going to look into them some more, and look into a lower colour of stone as well.

Thanks!

Kimmymc, Maybe start a new thread titled : Looking for upgrade MRB $4k budget" or something along those lines. You'll likely get a few more responses. Also do you know what type of setting you want? You could get some suggestions for those too.

Have you had the opportunity to go to a high end jeweler to see GIA graded diamonds with certs? That would help you decide which color you're comfortable with. There are some threads too: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-k-colored-diamonds.112476/

Two of the threads show a K color in a classic solitaire setting, around the size I think you're looking for.
