oh MY!!! Junebug that would be GORGEOUS with your OEC set in there on your teeny tiny finger! It would look like a huge 3 or 4 ct stone!! WOW!! Go for it --- its amazing finger coverage!! Thanks UrsTx for posting that!

Damn... you know this is going to stir up all that questioning in my head again about resetting my own OEC, don't you??? I'm feeling pangs of jealousy already and you haven't even made a decision!

Enerchi, I know, it looks fantastic doesn't it? - Consider me very confused right now! And don't blame me, this is all bastecat's fault! :D

Are you throwing me under the bus again???   I think it's going to turn out great!!!

Weelll - yes! :D I had to, Enerchi was after me! :halo:

You don't want Enerchi to catch you --- I'll kidnap BOTH your gorgeous halo's!!! You guys are so lucky - beautiful rings, both of you!! One day... one day.... I may join your club! ;))

Still waiting (somewhat impatiently!) to hear from the store letting me know the sample is in...of course I'm continuing to agonize over this...was talking to my 24 year old daughter about it, and initally she really liked the cushion Ritani but then started to feel she preferred the round shape, and a halo where the center stone is bezel set and thus separated from the melee. In other words, she totally confused me! I was browsing around on the Bev k site and saw this - I really like the simplicity of it, and the vintage feel. The only Bev k settings I'm familiar with are on the Pearlmans site, and they're all fairly ornate. Looks like it has hearts in the basket though, and I'm not necessarily a big hearts fan...and platinum might be out of my budget. Just wanted to post it to get some thoughts, and to show others who may be looking for settings.

For your diamond I love this setting. Price is at the higher end but Pearlmans does give PSers better prices often:

Suki Suki has it with a 1.74ct RB, which is about the size of your diamond, and similar tiny finger. It looks DIVINE on her hand and I think because of the split shank could be worn solo or with a variety of wbs: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-best-ebay-find-yet.106114/page-2

I love this one too, just ask for a plain or engraved shank

Thanks Dreamer, I didn't know someone on PS had that setting, it helps to see it on the hand. Good point about the diameter. I wish Bev k had a version with no airline lol. I'm anxious to see the Ritani in person.

Both those Bev k's are beautiful! Suki's ring looks amazing. The second one might be a little more than I'm wanting to spend right now.

I appreciate your input - Your feedback and suggestions are indeed helpful, thanks! :)) Lots to think about.

I would definitely at least see the Ritani and see how it works on your hand.

If it seems like the halo is too large, if there is a SImon G Vendor in your area at all, the Simon G halos tend to be a little smaller. I bet they have a plain shank version somewhere! (And they are very sparkly! My Simon G is really nice, though I am more of a fan of the larger halos than smaller ones, myself.)

Oh yes, I'm anxious to see the Ritani in person! - Ritani is making a sample, and the jeweler said he'd call me when it's in - I'm a little disappointed I didn't hear from him today.

Simon G is a good suggestion bastetcat, thanks! I think this jeweler is also a Simon G retailer, so I can check those settings out while I'm there.

Junebug, have a look at Simon G TR379, TR523 and MR1868 on www.simongjewelry.com... I have MR1811 and the center opening is 6mm and the halo is a little over 1mm on each side. It's 8.5mm total width so you might get a more delicate look out of SImon G.

Bastetcat, thank you so much for the suggestions - I was browsing around on the website and got a little overwhelmed tbh! You steered me in the right direction. They are all so pretty, the TR523 is really appealing to me - I like that they have a vintage feel but also seem a little contemporary too, if that makes any sense :cheeky: I really appreciate your help!

No problem! (I agree, their site is not easy to navigate.)I hope one of the ones you see will end up working out on your tiny finger!

I adore it... but for your diamond on your bitty finger I think it might be too much diameter! I don't think you can "handle" an airline!

I also worry the halo on the ritani is too bulky :blackeye: I am not much help am I?

The Ritani halo really is on the bulky side and doesn't "work" very well on my short fingers. My daughter tried it on and it looks much better on her very long, slender fingers.

Here's a pic of the 523, just so everyone can see. I'm a little surprised Simon G isn't mentioned more here on PS! The platinum version would put me over budget but I think this design is very pretty. Why do I have a feeling my budget might be expanding? ;( I keep going back and looking at the Bev k Dreamer suggested too. It looks gorgeous in the thread she posted.

Oh no kathley, say it isn't so! I'm just kidding, I really appreciate your input, thanks! I can't completely let go of the Ritani and hold out hope it looks nice on my hand - I guess I just like it! :cheeky:

I want to take a moment to again thank everyone who has offered opinions and suggestions to me, as well as good old moral support! It is really wonderful that people on PS are so giving of their time to help others!

Hi Junebug. Your fingers are much longer than mine, and I am sure it will look gorgeous on you! Be prepared for a lot of bling as this particular Ritani sure has it  Also, this particular halo gives me a peace of mind that it is protecting the girdle on my OEC. This is just a thought; but I am currently working with Adam Foster for my Edwardian setting since he is located near me and I can see his work. He can make any ring that you want, they are hand made with excellent quality. He offers several plain shank engagement ring designs on his Etsy site right now. And best of all, he is coming in way below ERD as I want to be careful with how much I want to spend on my ring. Many of his settings are right in line with the cost of the Ritani. His halos are more delicate. But, he has the capability of "beefing" them up as well.

Thanks kathley! I'm so curious to see the Ritani in person! I agree, the one thing I like about it is the girdle seems really protected. The diamond seems set kind of high in some of these other settings I'm looking at. And a big +1 to the bolded, I feel the same way and I'm trying hard to keep the cost of this reset down too!

I didn't know you were having a setting made! :appl: I love that the designer is close to you and you can see his work in person, that really helps a lot. I think that might be one reason I'm leaning towards settings I can see in person and can get locally. Also, (and I know I'm being silly about this because so many people do it on PS with absolutely no problem) I'm a little nervous about mailing my diamond to a vendor.

Thank you for the info on Adam Foster! Very helpful to know you've seen his work in person and it's good quality - Off to look at his work now!

Actually, I first discovered Adam Foster from a previous PS post by Ame, so I thought I would check him out. I am like you, in that I am too nervous about mailing my diamond to a vendor. Adam is so accommodating, that he will also work off of the diamond's measurements to create a ring. He is also patient, as it is taking me what feels like forever to commit to a particular design.

Oh that's right, I remember that post now! She spoke very favorably about him! Good to know that he will create a ring off of the dimensions, UrsTx did the same thing and had her ring set locally. I just looked at his work and it looks beautiful!

And I know what you mean...it's really hard to choose a setting, given all the options there are - one day I think I like one setting, the next day I switch to something else  I can't wait to see what you finally decide on!

Would you consider a slightly custom ritani (make it sans pave down the side)

uploadfromtaptalk1375900263097.jpg

Oh yes, I saw this one on the website and I do think it's really pretty! Kind of vintage, but also clean lines. If I went with 18k and plain shank, it might not be too far out of my price range. Thanks a lot Niel, I appreciate it and if you see anything else in your travels please let me know! :wavey:

OK honestly, I LOVE that TR523  Truly love it and Simon G has really great quality. I have seen some of their designs locally and love them.

My second choice would be the Sukisuki Beverly K.

Regarding the ritani, I meant "bulky" only in the sense that I think such large melee and the shape will be just too much with your large diamond and small finger. I think you will lose some of the vintage appeal of the diamond. It is a beautiful and well made mount. Seeing it in person is the best option for sure!

I know Dreamer, as soon as I saw the pic I felt a twinge of excitement! If the Ritani doesn't work out, I am going to seriously consider this one. It would be great if the jeweler had a sample of this setting. If I get a chance tomorrow I'm going to take a ride over and see.

Ok, I know I'm starting to get a little *all over the place* about this, but I came upon this one - I kind of like the vintage feel of the cushion shaped halo, and yet the band is a bit more "modern". I don't know, it caught my eye and there's something about it I really like.

Ooh, I like that Simon G!

Not to confuse you even more, but have you looked at any Gabriel and Co halos? They have soooo many great ones!

That setting is nice, huh? :naughty: You know, I've looked through the Gabriel settings and nothing really jumped out at me. I don't know if I searched right - I searched platinum settings and all that ones that came up were pretty ornate. I'll definitely take another look! Thanks Laila!

I like that other Simon G!

In terms of quality, I think Simon G and Ritani are in another league. For the small amount more money (to me, $500 here or there is not much in the grander scheme of a ring like this), the higher quality gets my vote.

Yes, it's lovely and a bit different, isn't it? this is starting to become very difficult! You make a good point Dreamer, and a consideration of quality is a good way to narrow down the many choices that are available. I'm definitely going to check out the Simon G settings tomorrow. Thanks a lot Dreamer!

Hey everyone, I'm back with an update...I tried on the Ritani today, and I will say that it is absolutely gorgeous! I really loved it and I thought it looked pretty on my hand, more delicately made than I pictured, but as Dreamer said maybe almost a little too much finger coverage?...the jeweler luckily happened to have the simon g TR523 at the store and omg it is amazing! I spent some time agonizing in the store, and it was a difficult decision, they are both really beautiful, but so different from each other! I've been going back and forth for days -modern and blingy, or vintage and a little more subtle (but still fairly blingy!) and I figured it was time to just bite the bullet and pick one already! :cheeky: I decided to go with the Simon G, for a few reasons. I decided to just stick with a vintage look for my old cut stone. And I think I prefer a round halo (although the cushion shape is so pretty too, this was a tough one). I think the slightly smaller melee in the Simon G will look a little better on my finger. And the simon g just felt a little more natural on my hand.

The only thing I'm second guessing myself about ever so slightly is that I went with 18k wg, for budgetary reasons. I don't really have any great affinity for platinum, I've worn wg all my life (except for my current setting and two bands) and have been fine with it. I don't know why it's bugging me a bit - maybe I feel like I'm being too frugal? Maybe because the bands I wear are platinum? Interestingly, the jeweler wasn't pushing me towards platinum - I think he genuinely felt it wasn't really worth the extra expense. I think I will stick with the wg, I feel kind of guilty spending money on a new setting to begin with.

Well, thank you for listening to my ramblings (I'm posting at 1:00 in the am, I think I'm a little loopy!) Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread, I took every post to heart and I appreciate all your help!

Junebug, I think you made a wonderful choice. The setting is going to complement your stone and it will be gorgeous! I am very excited for you and cannot wait for you to enjoy your "new" ring!!!

Junebug, I love the Simon G ring! So pretty and has a lovely delicate vintage feel. It's going to be WOW with your lovely diamond!!

I am a fan of 18ctWG as well. All my rings are white gold. I don't think it's cheaping out at all. I know it can be a bit high maintenance but I prefer the colour and shine to platinum. But that's just me ;)

oh i cant wait to see it!
