my_ring3.jpg my_ring2.jpg my_ring.jpg Long time lurker, first time poster :) So I apologize if my formatting is wrong
I ordered an IJ 12x10 moissanite from Starsgem, my rep was Demi, paid on the 29th of April
Total was under $500, paid via the Alibaba site with zero complications.
Received the CAD that very night, using all I had learned from these threads, WeddingBee, Reddit etc I pre-specified what dimensions I wanted the ring made to ensure proper sturdiness; very few revisions needed to be made otherwise.
Received the photos tonight from Demi, she will be mailing it out today :geek2:

I was a little surprised by the size of the stone when I first saw it... even though I knew what i had asked for:roll
I ordered this size centre stone because I wear US size 9, and wanted something proportionate to my blingy standards =)2 I'm hoping once on my finger it will feel juuuust right :kiss2:
I went with an I-J stone because I did not think I would enjoy too much the stark white of a DEF-GHI against my (medium brown) skin tone. The yellow gold I thought would also be complimentary.

Demi was kind, informative and highly responsive. Some of the other reps at SG froze me out once I'd been asking too many questions, but she was always happy to see to my needs  I would highly recommend contacting her if you are interested in having something made :twisted2: I also had the opportunity to speak to Mona, sadly we could not work together on this but she was also very pleasant and helpful and I hope to work with her in the future :saint:

Thank you to all of you who contribute to these Chinese moissanite threads! It took months of me educating myself by reading and re-reading to feel confident enough to make a purchase. I will of course do my small part with this post and will also update with my own photos and videos once received ;))
I also went for a big stone but the height on the ring was so high, I am in the middle of replacing it for something smaller. I do like having a larger stone for my finger size but these cushions are so deep. You have a peg head and it looks like they put it as low as it can go. I was having a hard time just getting the ring to stay upright. In case you have major problems with the height, you can always change it out for something smaller. I am putting mine in a pendant so it is not wasted but I just couldn’t deal with the height of the ring. Mine was 11x10 so just slightly smaller but it does look like an ice cube balancing on top of the band....I am referring to my ring with this comment. You might be fine with your’s and give it a few weeks to see how you feel.

OMG! Someone needs to buy this and tells us how it is!
I spent that much buying a used diamond one on ebay and then another $500 getting it set in platinum. I could have saved the money and gone for this at half the price. The lab diamonds look pretty white!

I am glad someone else commented on this.

It’s a beautiful ring but I would be very concerned about such a large stone attached by just that one very small point. There’s no support bars to support the prongs, either.

Be careful with this piece. That’s a lot of height and it’s not attached by much.

Thanks for your input :twisted2: As it remains to be seen it all comes down to how well I fare with it once I receive it but if it does become too much of an issue I'll recommission the stone into a pendant and have a smaller stone set :twirl:

Gah, I think you're probably right...it sucks because I think Starsgem's antique cushions look GREAT. My OMC was off the shelf/non-custom and it looks very similar to the square cushion that AV makes.

Their OECs, on the other hand, I'm not too crazy with. They're pretty but they don't have that fat petal look I'm aiming for.

I don't know why I didn't think of this! I'll check this, thanks!
If you want fatter arrows, Tianyu makes them fatter than SG's. You can try them instead.

Thanks! I saw Tianyu’s OEC and it looks similar to Harro’s. They’re nice but they look a little too transitional for me. I was actually going to get a loose OEC from Tianyu (before I decided to get the OMC from Starsgem), but I felt with the transitional look it would look a little too close to my AV H&A.

I’m being super picky, I know.

Regarding the MoCo OEC, I had one, and I prefer the OEC I have now from Tianyu hands down. The petals in the MoCo stone just weren’t well defined. I think it varies by stone, though, so if you order one, definitely ask them to select the best one for you.

Can I have some input, Demi just shared this Hearts & Arrows 7.5mm what do y’all think? Does it really look like Hearts and arrows?

Thanks! I actually remember you posting about that, along with ChristyDanielle’s OECs. I recall hers had a nice petal design, but she asked moco to handpick one for her. I had to look back on the AV thread and she did tell me a long time ago that she liked the AV better...which doesn’t help.

Anyway, I’ll shut up now because I’m veering WAY off topic at this point.

It’s hard to tell with the video quality. It looks splintery to me, but it might just have to do with the camera and the lighting.

Has anyone had to dispute one of these Chinese sellers on PayPal before? If you have, please let me know and give me some pointers please. I would be so grateful

I am trying to be patient and wait till they bring their lab diamond prices down.

I hope someone buys a starsgem lab diamond asap and makes a picture and video comparison with natural diamonds and moissanites.

Ok everyone I just got quoted for a 3 stone 14k white gold size 4 , center stone 7.5mm GH color H&A with 2 ( 4mm ) and Demi quoted me $250 does this sound right? This seems too good to be true? Lol

Hmm . Yeah I was thinking that too but Demi confirmed with me that’s also with the setting.. so now I’m confused if I should move forward with this..
do you know what width the band is supposed to be? if it's that inexpensive it's likely very thin so hopefully they can give you more detail and you can decide if you're comfortable with it or want to beef it up.

I told Demi, 3mm in width. Should I go and message grace instead and work with her?

Oh yeah that’s just my inspiration photo... but I told Demi I wanted the width of the shank to be 3mm

ok gotcha. i would thing a 3mm setting alone would be $250. i mean, if they will honor that price, that's fantastic! i don't know if they will increase it later if she miscalculated the amount of metal....

If it is a stock stone, it might be $100 plus something like $60 for the sides. With the gold, is this 14k? It is not a super expensive setting but I would think $350 would be about right but you do have a pretty small finger size. Ask if that includes shipping and PP fee’s. It would be difficult to do that type of setting in a 3 mm band since it is essentially a rounded comfort fit type band. I would think between 2.2-2.5 mm would be more normal. Having 3 mm would get strangely wide between the fingers unless it was tapered at the top and thicker at just the bottom.

Its actually a custom cut for thicker arrows 7.5mm and yes 14k white Gold in size 4. And the $250 wasn’t including shipping or PayPal fees, I just saw the invoice and with the PayPal fees it would be $288 total and then once my ring would be done she said the shipping is $25 to US so the whole total would be $313 that’s with PayPal fees and shipping fee. Does this sound right now?

Thanks for the tip, I think I’ll see how they’ll do the CAD and if they can’t do it with 3mm then I’ll suggest them to do it 2.5mm

I think I saw your post awhile back about your AV ideal round.. would you say AV ideal rounds are way better then any other H&A you ever seen?

This was the first ring they ever made and I was guessing in the beginning but it was very thick and heavy. I don’t mind that but I wear a size 8 so it worked well for me. They polish the shanks down about .2 mm more than the stated CAD so it was about 2 mm thick and maybe 2.5-2.6 mm wide. If you like a really solid ring, I would use this as a guideline. Anything thicker than this on your finger will be uncomfortable. It is different when you have pave because the shank is flatter. This was 7.5 grams of gold and I paid $800 in total at the time but the stone was custom cut and it was actually 18K gold. I think the price still sounds slightly low but if that is what they quoted, I would just go with it. You have a small finger so there will be less gold weight than mine and you really can’t beat that price....

Thank you! Yeah I guess I’m just sooo paranoid thinking I’m being scammed never would I have thought I would be thinking about making a purchase with these awesome Chinese vendors.

I do have a question, what if let’s say the whole custom cut H&A doesn’t go as I wanted, would I be able to get a refund?
