If you have that sort of budget and are looking for a knockout stone, have you considered asking GOG if they can custom-cut an Octavia for you, like Dancing Fire's custom cut but bigger? ;))

Search on youtube for 'dancing fire octavia' for a video of it, or DF has posted several drool-worthy threads on here, charting its 'birth' :sun:

Kenny has also posted some excellent pictures of his to whet your appetite :))

And debi1960 and xinran74 have posted a video and pictures respectively:

There are several other threads with pictures in (just do a forum search for 'octavia') and I want one badly  but apparently men around here aren't allowed diamonds in their wedding ring  :(

I did consider the octavia at the beginning when I had first reached out to GOG, but am preferring the traditional asscher. I just love the way the stepcut look.

I don't know how to post links either, but Leon Mege has two 3 carat asschers on his website under instock pieces. Both are G's. One is set in a beautiful halo. The other with bullet sides. Check them out and see what you think!

I saw the LM ring with the bullet sides a couple weeks ago in person. I thought it was stunning. If you are close enough to stop by in person, I think it would be worth taking a look at to see if it appeals to you.

Do I need to make an appointment to see the ring? I am going to IDJ next week to see the asscher that Yekutiel have. I would love to see the one at Leon Mege. Was originally thinking of getting one of his setting.

Here are the ASET image for the 3 stone I had requested.

This is the F VS@

And that's why you can't pick step cuts at JA without an ASET.

Neither.

Keep looking.

Thank you for your quick response. Am going to see Yekutiel next week. Hopefully I find something there. Haven't heard back from GOG.

Call GOG to follow up with them.

Looking forward for update from IDJ visit.

Yes good luck with Yekutiel at IDJ. I hope he has some beautiful diamonds to show you.
And good luck with GOG and the rest of the vendors too. Hoping you find the diamond of your dreams on this trip!

yes, you need to make an appointment if you want to meet with Leon. It's great that you'll be able to see the options in person to figure out which one you like best.

I have a busy day tomorrow, will be going to both LM and Yekutiel to see the asschers. Have also heard back from GOG and am waiting for them to send me info on what they have found. Would rather not have to travel to GOG without seeing any pics. They are a bit out of the way and with my newborn it is hard to make the trip.

Will look forward to your feedback after your visits today :)

If you do go to GOG, I think it would be interesting to look at the Octavia - you know, while you are visiting anyway, just in case... ;) :D

If you want a NYC ringmaker, Steven Kirsch is the best choice. There is actually a fabulous pave halo on an asscher on this page.
ID Jewelry sold the diamond in that ring.

If it doesn't have to be NY, then Victor Canera does outstanding work, as well. I have worked with him and his work is exquisite!

You read my mind diamondseeker! I do want a Steven kirsch ring. After looking at his work, I am hoping to get a stone so I can have him make my setting.

That is awesome!!! I fell in love with that gorgeous IDJ stone and really promoted a pave halo for the setting! It turned out so beautifully!

I am going to warn you about visiting the other NY ringmaker even to look at a diamond. I know that he does not like to sell a stone unless he sets it. I know of a case where someone bought one from him and they decided on another ringmaker and he would not release the stone. If you see this soon, I will delete this part of my post. But I wanted to warn you!

So I went today and look at some beautiful diamonds! I do like the asscher ring but don't believe I will be getting it since it is not in the setting I want. I looked at several asscher IDJ and Yekutiel do recommend one out of the several he shown me. Am wondering whether I can post this ASET for it.

Do you mean you are wondering if you know how to post it, or are you wondering if it's okay to post it? Yes, by all means post it!

Here's the image

I don't think that ASET is any better than the ones you posted above. I still maybe like that very first stone because the cut looks pretty other than the one dark area. I'd consider looking at that one in person. But I do not like the other two.

Are you referring to the JA first ASET from my previous post? If so, is the ASET for that one better than the one from IDJ?
And for info the IDJ asscher is G VS1 with strong blue fluorescence. The strong blue fluorescence makes it look whiter. I am liking that it looks whiter than G color.

Would you ladies be able to tell me whether you think the stone from this ring is nice? Don't think I can get an ASET.

Sorry to trouble you ladies.

I got an email from LM for the quote on the ring. Since there's no ASET image for that asscher, do you ladies think it is wise for me to get that ring without an ASET? I did see the ring in person and t is indeed a beautiful ring. But I don't think I'm expert enough to decided. I will need to let them know by today.

As for the IDJ asscher, in person the diamond was very sparkly. It was best looking one out of the 4 asscher that he shown me. I like the strong blue fluorescence and like that it really brighten up the stone. What I'm asking is that, it seems so hard to find a good asscher. Should I continue to search or should I just pick the best asscher out of the few that I've seen so far.

I just went through a few months long search for a 2 ct asscher. I would agree that none of those asets are spectacular. I had much better luck buying my own aset scope and evaluating the stones I ordered in myself. I'd say almost all of them had better asets than I am seeing you post. Also, make sure you take the strong blue out in the sunlight, direct and indirect and also inside near a window. I got in stones with very strong, strong, medium and none. I decided nothing over medium for me...personal preference and all but just a tip in case you didn't bring it out in the sunlight.

I would also say don't rush and don't settle! That is a huge amount of money and a meaningful investment. You can find a great asscher and just take time and enjoy the process. I came close to keeping a few of them but kept looking and then when I got in this final one I immediately sent the 2nd runner up back the next day. It spoke to me that much more and has overall been my favorite one I got in. I love the medium blue and the way the light plays throughout the stone. Cliché but I think you will know your favorite when you see it!

I don't have the expertise to comment on the Asscher in the LM ring, but I think the ring is stunning. That is one of my favorite settings for an Asscher.

So I passed on the LM ring. I just didn't feel confident enough to purchase it without an ASET image. And the other downside is that the ring is already mounted. Which mean I would have paid for a setting I don't want.

I reached out to GOG and was told that they will image for me next Tuesday. Hopefully, they will have better diamonds in stock.

Thank-you for reminding me to not settle. Yekutiel said that stepcut stone are bound to have some sorta leakage. So the stone he recommend is one of the better stone out there.

Hi luv2sparkles!! FWIW, I had to pop into IDJ today and actually saw the stone in question. I happened to think it was really beautiful in person! Had great fire, super white and was very clean. While ASET/IS imaging is super helpful, I sometimes feel you need to see fancy cuts in person and judge. I don't want you to settle, but if you did love that stone in person, maybe you could set it and wear it for a few days before deciding to see it in all environments? Yekutiel wants all of his customers to be 110% happy and would do everything he could to ensure that!!! Lots of luck to you!! :wavey:

Thank you for confirming my thoughts on that stone ac117. The stone is very white and have a lot of fire. Your suggestion have cross my mind. I'm still waiting on GOG to see what they have available. I will be sure to post any updates I get.
