Aljdewey and SB, indeed everyone else, thanks so much for your good wishes, it truly means a lot to me. Well, the surgery has been done on my baby and he is recovering as I type this, I am not allowed to see him today. The vet seems more optimistic now he has done the procedures than he was this morning, you know how it is when a beloved animal has surgery to face and it is all out of your hands, it is a terrible and agonising feeling. But it seems the vet feels that the outlook is better now than it was this morning, now he actually hopes to have fixed the problem, I truly was lucky in finding this specialist to help him. My boy won't be allowed home for probably around a month as he will need monitoring and treatment for a while on a daily basis, but it will be so worth it if the surgery was successful. I should be able to visit him daily from tomorrow onwards which will help make the time go faster until I can get him home. I will keep you posted as to how he does.

Thanks to you all Alj, SB, MrsSalvo, Rod, Dee, NCYS, TG, Mara, Kim, Ellen, Rod and ChargerGirl for all your kind words, please keep sending out recovery vibes to him!

Dee, you take care of yourself, best to have it checked out for the peace of mind it will give you. Rod, best of luck with the drive home!

MrsS you will love the CL subscription...I have been getting it for over a year and people keep giving me subscriptions...I think my current one does''t run out until halfway through 2009!!! LOL. I do love it. I buy little post it flags and flag all the recipes in each issue I want to try. That way when I go looking back at old issues I have immediate ''go to'' pages.

DeeJay it''s definitely better to be safe than sorry - going to the doctor is the right thing to do.

Lorelei I hope the kiddo is doing okay!

Last night I made another pizza with the garlic herb dough from TJ''s. I definitely prefer the wheat dough though, surprisingly. Don''t think I''ll be going with the herb one again. Anyway, the only slipup was having the choc ice cream in the fridge....DH got it as a treat for my friend and I (my friend came over to help me unpack Sunday) and there''s lots left over. I waited 45 min to see if the craving would go away and it didn''t, so I sucked it up and had some.

DeeJay, I''m so glad you''re going to the MD. Hope the wine helped. You are in my thoughts.

Here''s my weigh in for the week:

Week 14 Week 15
Height: 5''5'' Height: 5''5''
Weight: 127.4 Weight: 125.2
Bust: 32'' Bust: 32''
Waist: 26.5'' Waist: 26.5''
Lower Waist: 31.75'' Lower Waist: 32''
Bicep: 11.5'' Bicep: 11.25''
Hips: 36.5” Hips: 36”
Thigh: 20'' Thigh: 20''

Inches are moving slowly, but the weight keeps dropping, interesting.

More later, I have an early sub job today.
Funny, I''m having just the opposite! Inches are dropping, but weight is staying very much the same... Although, yesterday I was 161.6, which is probably pretty accurate. I splurged last night out on sushi, and today the scale says 163.8. So, I''m not sure which is really accurate - I figure I''ll give it a few more days, and I''m guessing the 161 is probably more accurate and the amount of food I ate for dinner yesterday caused a little hiccup on my true weight. We shall see... But, here''s my Wednesday Weekly Workout Thread Weigh-In.

Week 10 Week 15

What you''re experiencing is quite normal since you''ve started working out, Becky.

Today was a physically exhausting day. I subbed in a class of autistic students and it was quite physically demanding, but a great experience.

We''re having veal and veggies for dinner and I''m looking forward to getting to bed early.

DeeJay, stilling thinking about you!

Rod, have a safe trip, if you haven''t dismantled the computer already.

Hey all - sorry I haven''t checked in yet this week - life has been crazy!!

Unfortunately my hip is not healing as well as I''d hoped. I did go to the doctor, and to a physical therapist, and the consensus is that I mildly dislocated my hip and it then popped right back in, but that sprained the surrounding ligaments and also strained the muscles. So I''ve got a really lovely hip brace (kind of like a girdle) that I have to wear pretty much all day. They don''t know how long it will take to heal, but I''m able to do some "very light" exercise while its healing.

Oh well, I guess I''ll get plenty of rest next week when I get my wisdom teeth out...

On the upside, I had to find pants in my closet to fit over the hip brace, and I found a pair of pants that I got back in the fall that are a size 12 from Banana, that were a little snug when I got them, and they are HUGE. Perfect for over the hip brace - they go over it easily and it keeps them from falling down. Of course, I kind of look like I have some sort of spare tire-type growth, but they are so baggy it really just looks like I am SUPER pear-shaped haha...

Anyway, I''m keeping up with my eating well, even though my exercise is limited. And I weighed in on Monday and I''m down another lb, for a total of 27 lbs since the New Year.

Tonight I''m hosting my weekly ladies dinner group at our apartment, and its usually super unhealthy with TONS of food, but I tried to encourage more healthy stuff this week - I''m making a Spring veggie risotto, based off a CL recipe, heavy on the veggies, and I have fresh strawberries for dessert, so hopefully I can mainly eat those and it won''t be too much of a disaster.

It sounds like everyone is doing really well - its still very inspiring to follow everyone''s stories and hear about what is happening for everyone. I''m also really enjoying hearing all about everyone''s life transitions - my DH and I are in the midst of trying to make some major life decisions for ourselves and together, and its helpful to hear about how others think about these things.

Sorry for being MIA -- I had a client that I just dropped off about 5 minutes ago.

Talked to the doc today and I am going in for another EKG and a sonogram tomorrow, and then we''ll schedule a stress test. The pain was intermittent today, and fortunately no teeth/jaw discomfort, but it will be nice to know what this really is.

And I''ve been thinking about the suggestion many of you had regarding this being stress, but I would be surprised if that''s the final diagnosis. I am really busy right now, but the only thing that is more burdensome than usual was the annual report (which fortunately is done!). And my real estate business is thriving, so I don''t mind the hours I''m putting in there at all since it''s so rewarding. Who knows--maybe I misinterpret "stress" but I really feel very positive and motivated by the things going on in my life at the moment...

Thank you all again for your support--it really means a lot to me! I''ll post after the doctor''s visit tomorrow and maybe there will be some good news.

Ambergretchen, 27 lbs?! Wow that is awesome! Congrats!
Dee Jay I hope you are feeling better and have good news from your doctor.

Mara and everyone who commented on my crummy metabolism situation, thanks for your thoughts. I did want to clarify, I am finally seeing some progress! It is just very slow. I lost about 10 pounds this past fall and about 5 these past few weeks and 5 last spring and summer, so that''s a total of 20 pounds over 1 year. (My weight fluctuates a lot day to day so sometimes its hard to tell the exact amount.) So at least SOME progress is happening. I hope it continues.

The frustrating thing is that I don''t see any real differences in my eating habits between the times when I lose weight and when I don''t. It doesn''t seem like there is an obvious correlation between my choices and what shows up on the scale. So it is hard to keep up doing what is working, when I don''t know what it is. I don''t want to eat too little and be in starvation mode. I don''t want to eat too much and gain weight. It''s hard to know what the right amount is. And, when I eat around other people, I am always really cautious not to eat too much because I feel like people are watching and judging. (Yes, this sounds paranoid, but I''ve had people say things - gotta love family- so there is a reason I feel this way!)

Thanks for the kudos on the triathlons. I enjoy swimming, biking and running and my uncle is into triathlon and always talking it up, and so I thought I would sign up for one. I trained for several months before my first one. My husband''s best friend said he was up for it as well. We don''t live in the same city so we kept eachother motivated although we couldn''t train together. Our first tri was last July and it was super fun (difficult but so rewarding). It inspired me to sign up for a few more! It also gave me more confidence - i.e. even if my body doesn''t look like I want it to right now, it can do some amazing things. I agree with you Mara there were some people there who didn''t look very fit but who were doing amazingly well, and some other people who looked fit but were not doing as well as you would expect. Fitness is not the same thing as appearance, to be sure. Same thing has been true at the many running events I''ve done as well. i''ve done a couple half marathons but my favorite distance is 10K. I''d love to do a marathon and I may attempt it soon but I''ve seen several friends ruin their knees training for them and I do not want that to happen to me. Triathlon and shorter road races are a big part of my life now and have really changed me for the better.

Today I wore a pair of size 12 pants that I bought at JCrew a few summers ago. Last summer I didn''t even bother trying them on b/c I knew they would be too tight. Today they fit perfectly and if anything, a little baggy!! Got a couple compliments on them!

It''s frustrating that nobody from work or school has complimented me on my weight loss?! Probably because it has been so slow, people don''t really notice. Nobody''s commented on my diamond studs either (have had them about a month now) and I''m not gonna point them out - I was hoping ppl would notice!

So, today I had a great workout - 45 min of running, intervals, faster than I expected to do! Burned 550 cals. Ate pretty well today for a total of 1700 cals approx, if I eat that 100 cal pudding that I have my eye on for later. I do a rough estimate based on years of label reading - I don''t do a spreadsheet or online calorie counter anymore because it takes so much time I inevitably get fed up and stop doing it!

Hope everyone is having a great night. Mara how is the job after day 3?

DeeJay so sorry to hear you are going through this but those tests your doctor had scheduled wll help allay your fears.
A similar thing happend to me 2 years ago. My husband had a test called cardiac scoring which measure the calcium deposits in your cornary arteries which are a precusor to heart disease. My husband scored 0. Never smoked and had no family history. So he sent me along and i scored 30. Oh god a fine number if you are a 60 year old man but too high if you were a 45 year old woman. I immediately went into a spin as my mother had died of hear failure at an early age. I had also smoked for 15 years and was convinced I was a gonner.
I had been having the odd chest pain at times but I swear once i got these results I started experincing terrible chest , jaw and arm pain. My husband who is a MD felt it was psychosomatic but rushed me to a cardiologist for tests.
End result is I passed everything with flying colours and had according to him 0 risk factors because my cholesterol good was great, I was fit, not overweight hadd not smoked for 10 years and performed just fine on the stress test.
he told me the cardiac scoring test was perfectly nomal and sent me on my merry way.
Guess what the pains stopped! But I was determined to maintain my healthy heart and really ramped up my exercise now (which I always do with the heart monitor on so I only ever work up to 80% of my max output) and my resting heart is 61 and my BP is very low.
So I think that it is mportant for any body who is having any unusual symptom to have it checked out. But like everyone on this forum exercising and eating healthily is also very important to maintaining a healthy heart and body and you certainly are doing that.
Take care

DeeJay, I''m so glad you have an appointment with your MD.

Gail, I too have a slower metabolism. You''ve recieved a myriad fo advice, but just one more suggestion...if you haven''t already break up your meals to 5 or 6 a day instead of 3. I''m sure you know this, but just in case you haven''t implemented this plan, something you might want to consider. I think it''s helped me a lot.

Lorelei, so great to hear from you. You and your boy continue to be in my thoughts!!!

thanks Kimberly, I will keep that in mind! I do try to bring an am and pm snack, but sometimes life is so hectic, it gets in my way :)

I also forgot to say before: AlJ, thanks for mentioning that about insulin resistance. I know that my blood sugar came back normal, do you know what specifically they test for insulin resistance? I hope they included it in all the tests they did, but I will check next time I see the dr. Thanks for that idea, I hadn;t thought of it.

Mara, do you know what length triathlon your dad did? Did he like it and does he plan to do another? That's very cool. The ones I've done so far have been sprint triathlons but were a little longer (swim and bike distances) than the standard sprints. (They take around 90 min to 2 hrs I would say, on average for most ppl.) I've committed to do at least one Olympic distance (about double the length) this season. I'm a little intimidated with the length but it will give me another goal to shoot for!

Gail I concur with KimberlyH one hundred percent. Since I have started doing this a bout 10 days ago I have really noticed a difference. I am in fact eatinfy more around 1600 cals a day vs the 1200 I was on before.
The key is for me having protein with all al these meals and I can almost feel that my metabolism is actually firing but adding some low GI carbs is also working well.
Give it a go

Kate, I''m glad this is working for you. It was and is quite difficult for me to snack, but I do so anyways because I think it makes a difference. I typically eat some almonds or 70 cal yogurt w/ cereal for a snack and then low fat ice cream or frozen yogurt for dessert, which puts me at between 1309-1600 a day, when I eat at home. It really seems to have made a difference.

Kimberley yeah I am feeling pretty happy about this. i got the ebook Burn fat and feed muscle and this is what this guy says to do. For me the adding protein has really helped me be satiated. I don''t have a sweet tooth at all but love my cheese and pate.
I now don''t have these any more before dinner as I have a protein smoothie at 5 and then dinner is pretty tiny but enough that I can eat what the family is having.
I have found adding protein powder unflavoured to my skim yoghurt mixed with berries is an easy way to up your proteinsnack and I can take it to work easily.

hi everyone! sounds like everyone is doing well, DJ let us know what your DR says.

gail...i don''t recall exactly what my dad did for the triathalon...vaguely something like he had to swim this small lake, then bike i think 65ish miles then run a 10k kinda thing. he also got a cramp partway through the 10k which slowed him up as well. it was just interesting because he is a cyclist and a runner but he had a really hard time with the swimming...he did a lot of training but not enough on the swimming and it just really tripped him up. he made up a lot of time on the cycling and running for sure.

lorelei hope your boy is doing well!!

i forget who asked about how my job is going, i still love it! just wish there were less sweets and snacks all over...and we have all these onsite and offsite meetings this week with out of towners so there is a ton of catered food and sweets all over. tomorrow we are going to a celebration bocce thing with catered lunch and activities etc. that will be bad news i am sure for eating!! but oh well, i figure i will just keep working out the way i am and see where things shake out. if i need to scale back i will but i am not going to freak out since i am just maintaining.

we just got home from dinner with the neighbors at this german place and wow we consumed a lot of food. this was totally not the place for a healthy lifestyle lol. we got a sausage platter app and some garlic fries. the sausage app platter was literally like 4 10" sausages in diff flavors. CRAZY huge. i had like 1/10 of one of the sausages and some hot mustard. but i mowed on the garlic fries, haha. the dinners came with pea soup which i don''t eat so greg ate mine, and a really yummy german kind of salad with kraut and cabbage on it along with carrots and lettuce. i got the halibut, pilaf and veggies, but i didn''t know they baked the halibut with a little oil so it came with like a fish and chips crust on it? totally odd. so i picked off the crust and ate the fish, pilaf and the veggies. the veggies had some sort of gravy on them too. totally interesting. and i had bread and butter of course lol. but the crowning glory was dessert, their specialty apple strudel with a bit of berry sauce and whipped cream...greg didn''t want his and the pieces were smallish so i ate BOTH. greg called me his champion dessert eater. i was cracking up. the funniest thing is after all of that i wasn''t even REALLY full. i swear sometimes i am like a bottomless pit, lately it seems like at times it takes me forever to get actually full feeling. but anyway we love hanging out with our neighbors, they are so much fun..and the boys drank TWO LITERS each of beer. crazy times !!

earlier after work i hit up the gym and just had a short period of time to get a workout in so i did 470 cals in 53 minutes and then had to jet off and pick up portia from my grandmothers house and come home, shower and get ready to go. but i was happy to get my workout in to help combat some of the gorgefest tonite.

anyhow, sounds like people are doing pretty well with eating, exercise etc !! kudos team and stick with it.

oh i also read this article today i found very interesting, talked about change and how your body and mind tend to want to ''regress'' into old behavior patterns. it wasn''t specifically about weight but it could be applied to something like weight loss or a lifestyle change. it said that your mind tends to remember old behavior patterns and it can take 6-9 months to change them permanently in your psyche. it also said when you screw up on something, whatever it may be....to accept it, assess the damage, admire yourself for knowing that you screwed up, and then act on a plan to make it better. so like if you didn''t plan to have dessert then had two (lol)...accept it...assess what that might do to goals that are planned, stop a second to admire that you can actually acknowledge you screwed up by eating both desserts, then act on the plan to do a double workout the next day or whatever to get past it. i thought the article was pretty interesting overall because it really addressed how people can let their minds kind of mess with them, especially when centered around something as emotional as food can be for many people. it said that forgiveness and moving past things rather than beating yourself up for things over and over is really the key to success. you can''t undo what has been done but you can recognize that you have the POWER within you to make a better choice in the future.

it also talked about how when you have a craving for something...that they typically don''t last that long and that if you can stop and examine the craving for a minute, chances are you will let your ''thinking'' brain recognize that it''s a craving and it won''t help you to give in, and it might help detach your ''emotional'' side from ''i have to have it, must have it'' and let your thinking brain rationalize it away. kinda interesting...

anyway time for bed....!!! hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Well, when I weighed this morning, I was down to 162.2 (from 163.8 yesterday). I knew that 163.8 was just a little too high! It''s not quite the 161.6 that it was on Tuesday, but hey, I''ll take it! I know it''s only a little tiny bit, but that puts me at 2lbs total loss for the 4 weeks that I''ve been really working out and eating healthy. And, I know the inches are getting smaller, so that''s good. It almost seems as though my body is testing me though. It''s like it wants me to prove that I''m serious about excercising and losing weight, and until I prove it, it''s not going to release any of these pounds. So, I''m going to prove it! I''m hoping to get below 160 before next Wednesday''s weigh in, so I''m gonna bust it this week and see what I can do! Back when I was skinny, 150 was my OH S**T weight. Ya know, the weight where you realize, hey, this is getting out of control, gotta do something about it. Well, back then I didn''t have a digital scale, I had one of those with the little hand that moved in a circle, and it wasn''t very accurate. So, I thought I was around 150-152lbs, but the doctor''s office always was a little higher. I finally decided to buy a digital scale, and I was floored!!! 164.2 lbs. My battle is going to be fought 5 lbs at a time though because I can think about trying to loose 30 lbs all at once. Right now, I''m just focusing on getting that number below 160! Then, I''ll work towards getting it below 155 and so on until I''m down to 135ish.

Yesterday was a good food day. I came in right around 1500 cals (spark says my range should be 1200-1550). And, I burned probably the most ever calories that I''ve ever done at the gym: 355! I know that''s not a lot to a bunch of you who are further along in your fitness programs, but for me, that''s a LOT! I''m usually around 150-200 cals just because I''m still working on getting the heart and lungs back in shape. I''m gonna go tonight and shoot for another 355 or more.

becky, 355 calories burned is wonderful. it does take time to get your heart and lungs to the endurance place. My hubby has just started working out again and can only go for about 30 minutes max on anything. the other day he could only go 15 minutes on the cybex arc and then did 15 minutes on a bike but I''m so proud of him for doing *something* and just being active. the same holds true for you and as you continue your heart will get strong and you will be able to go one more minute until your burning what you want.

dee jay, glad you going to doc. i''m very interested to here what they say.

lorelei, glad you could check in and hope your boy continues to do better today...

mara- i can''t imagine having to work at a place with tons of treats. that would be so hard but it sounds like you''ve got a good snack plan in place. interesting about the german food place too. I don''t like german food at all, everything is just so heavy, if that makes sense. they do make some good desserts though...

so i''ve been to the gym 3 days in a row. I was going to try and get to and early spinning class today but my daugter has a cold and I don''t want her in the nursury so I think we''re just going to go on a long walk. the weather is finally nice here again so it will be good to spend some time outside. I hope everyone has a great day!!

becky kudos on some success!! one of the other things that article talked about is to look to the future and present. aka focus on your successes and not your failures or your negatives or how far you still have to go. this will apparently help your mind keep looking towards the future and be more helpful with your goals than negative thinking. and don''t worry about the workouts, i surely wasn''t doing 600 on the elliptical at first either. i had to work my way into it. your body does remember when you ''used to be'' fit...mine remembered not too slowly thank goodness. also if you are not already, walking really helps get your heart and lungs in shape for the machines as well. i love walking, sometimes i feel like i could just keep going forever on a nice sunny day with great music.

so speaking of walking, tonite is a walk for me...after this bocce foodgasm offsite. i plan to do 4m so hopefully it works out. 4m around the neighborhoods is kind of a weird long mazey stretch where i go in and our and around a bunch of blocks so it can get a little confusing, but it keeps me closer to home. if it wasn''t so close to dark, aka on a saturday afternoon i''d walk way farther out the way i have before and then straight back. but since i''m never quite sure what time sunset is, i don''t like to be too far from the house in case i mis-calculate and it''s 15 minutes earlier or something and then i''m stuck in the dark.

mrs salvo, yeah i am not really a huge german food fan either...but the boys totally loved it. i tried greg''s schnitzel and noodles and it was totally bland and blah!! i was not loving it. i liked the one sausage i tried, because it was kind of spicy and yummy with the hot mustard. but the whole gravy on the veggies thing was a little odd, i was like way to make them unhealthy haha. and the garlic fries, while good (since i ate them) were totally overdone. it was just an interesting place. probably more known for beers and sausages than stellar food kinda thing. but the strudel sure was good!!

breakfast was steel cut oatmeal with sf syrup and cinnamon and a slice of whole grain toast with sb and ls marmalade with coffee.

anyhow, hope your appt is going well DJ...Rod hope you guys are on your way home and loving every minute of it!! hope everyone has a beautiful day. it''s almost friday!!

Becky: Great job on the extra calories burned! Remember not to get too caught up in the scale.

Mara: It wasn''t me who asked, but I''m glad you''re enjoying your new job.

So we had veal chops, asparagus and salad for dinner last night, yummy! I''m not sure what we''re doing tonight. I''m cooking, but who knows what.

I''ll workout today, yippee! And that''s about it on my end.

Ok, can I just say HOORAY for the light recipe thread? I love to eat healthy, but being pregnant has made my cooking skills & instincts vaporize. happened last time too.

I''ve been CRAVING food with interesting flavors, clean ingredients, etc...and wow!!! hit the motherload on that thread.

Thank you everyone..I''m making a menu plan & shopping list right now!

Lifesaver!

i''m so glad that thread helped you dg!!! lots of yummy stuff in there for sure.

i just got back from a 1m walk outside. there is a lot of stuff around here...a lot of retail and things and i was curious to see what some of it was in areas i am not familiar with. i am going to keep a pair of tennis shoes in my cube and go out for walks 2x a day when i need a break. hopefully it will also keep me from oversnacking, aka when i want that 2nd cookie i can go for a walk instead hahaa. or walk then eat the cookie.

also there are little cafes and places like a mile away or 1/2 mile away so it''ll be fun to get out and go for walks to get food or whatever sometimes too.

anyway just wanted to check in. my walk kind of revived me! hope everyone is having a good day!

ok, i'm back with a review of the guiltless gourmet brownie bowl - it was just ok. i found it a bit too sweet for my taste, and actually only ate about half of it. there are other ways i'd rather spend 200 dessert calories...like slow-churned light ice cream!

food today has been good - pumpkin spice muffin for breakfast (i am soooo glad i can have these again!), tuna on a ww tortilla and some broccoli slaw for lunch and a kashi bar for a snack later on. i've also had 2 cups of the orange passionfuit jasmine green tea - yummy! some friends are coming over for dinner tonight and i'm making a salad and one of two pasta dishes - either the creamy mushroom farfalle from cooking light or linguine with clam sauce. that only gets me to about 1050 calories for the day, so i will probably come up with something for dessert as well - maybe some slow-churned chocolate ice cream with a few strawberries.

yesterday i did 45 minutes on the elliptical and today i will do 45 on the bike at home before dinner.

ag, sorry to hear about your hip, but keep up up the good work!

dj and lorelei, keep us posted!

SB i just had a cup of the orange passionfruit jasmine tea too lol! gotta love it.

also i was curious where you found the brownie bowl that HG recommended, i have been looking for it all over!!

my freezer is packed with my vitalicious muffin tops and stuff, i keep forgetting they are in there and eating other treats instead, we have some leftover easter stuff that i just want to get RID OF already.

has anyone else tried the gelato that i suggested from whole foods?? i am in love with this stuff. 120 cals of gelato, sliced strawberries and some ff whip and i''m in heaven. how did i turn into such a dessert whore, argh!

oh and we tried the creamy mushroom farfalle, it was really yummy!! i would put more mushrooms as we love them and maybe use a little bit more cream. but it was overall very good.

You reminded me about the vitalicious - I seriously want to try these. Weren''t in my [frozen dessert section] at Safeway. Haven''t looked now that I''ve moved. Was that the only place anyone has had luck? Haven''t seen them at TJ''s and haven''t been to WF in awhile.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to check in. I doubt I''ll ever get good at posting regularly, but I''ve been good! I especially wanted to thank Rod for suggesting a personal trainer, and to wish you much happiness in Florida. I''m homesick too, so I know how it feels.
I finally bit the bullet and made biweekly appointments with the trainer, and it''s helped more than anything else I''ve done so far. When it comes to exercise, peer pressure works for this lazy girl. I''ve also been taking advantage of the great weather to do some trail running. Being healthy is the most amazing feeling.

It''s good to check in and see that everyone is doing great, and to finally find out what fage is.

Hey FG! Even though the web site says WF has them, neither Mara nor I (and maybe others) were able to find them at our local WFs, so I don''t think they really do carry them! And TJs defintiely doesn''t.

In my local supermarkets (Shaws, Stop & Shop), they were in the organic freezer section -- not near the regular ice creams and stuff, but near the health food!

. becky i think its great that you are losing 5 lbs at at time. it makes it doable and rewarding to reach your goal sooner. my abs are killing me from the pilates workout i did yesterday. i also walked 3 miles yesterday and managed to walk about 2 miles today. i''m going to do the pilates again tomorrow and try to fit in a quick walk before my inlaws come over for dinner.

breakfast was oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon and an english muffin. lunch was a spicy chicken salad--yummmmy!!! and i''m still undecided on dinner....maybe breakfast for dinner tonight. happy thursday all!!

Well the doctor has confirmed, according to the second EKG that she just took, that I do indeed have a heartbeat, LOL. A "classic perfect heartbeat" based on the printout as a matter of fact. But other than that the rage of guesses on my malady go from arterial blockage, blood clot in my lung, asthma and heartburn. (???)

I go in for a stress test next Thursday and I'm supposed to take Prilosec once a day to see if that makes any difference.

Modern medicine...

I did walk home from the doctor's office though, and that was 1.5 miles, so I'm counting it as a workout.

Everyone sounds like they're doing so well! And Mara, glad to hear you're happy with the new job.

ETA: Forgot to say that the doc pointed out that my "bad" cholesterol was a very low number (it's like 30 and it should be in the 40-60 range). I asked what I should do and her answer was to exercise--which she had not 2 minutes before tell me I was absolutely NOT allowed to do at this point!--and to drink more red wine. Oh well, at least I can follow *that* part of the doctor's orders!

How frustrating not to have a definitive diagnosis, DeeJay. I''m so sorry!
