I had nice time sitting under the oak at Starbucks this afternoon. Sorry if it''s cold out your way, but were being treated to some unbelievable weather for early February. Today''s high was 80 degrees, blue skies, a few puffy clouds and just spectacular. Then I came home did some on-line job searching (nothing, nadda, zippo), then I met Charlie for Sushi, tart fro-yo and coffee under the oak and a starry filled sky. My cold is a bit better today and I hope even more so tomorrow.

Steph, it''s been years since we dined at Peppino''s, but back then it was one of our favorite places and it was so close to our house in Oviedo. I hope it''s still good when you go there. I remember one dish which was cheese filled pasta (maybe ravioli?), with peas and bacon in a vodka sauce, which was to die for. I used to sop up the sauce with the bread until there wasn''t a bit of sauce left on my plate. Wow, I haven''t thought of that dish in forever........

I''m glad you''re feeling better SB!!

You''re certainly welcome Julianna. I hope the book is helpful!

Sorry for the snow CJ and I did take in extra sun and warmth for you!!

cdt, it can take some time for the body to start changing. I think it''s one reason so many people get frustrated and stop working out after only a few weeks. People think they''ll see HUGE changes quickly, but unlike in TV commercials, it just doesn''t happen that way. Don''t get frustrated and stick with working out and you''ll see changes. Plus you are doing weights and are likely building muscle which is denser and weighs more than fat, so as you burn fat and build muscle, you may not see a change on the scale. As Lorelei so succinctly advised us in one of her sage weekly openers, not too long ago, Slow And Steady Wins The Race! Keep up the good work and you will reap the benefits for sure.

Thanks somethingshiny, but I''m not just sure I''m destined to win the lottery. But, I will keep trying for sure!! And yes, I am using an expectorant to help this blasted cold go away.

Welcome Patiently Waiting and EricaR!!

Oh Skippy, I''m so sorry you have a tummy ache. I hope watching the snow make the world all pure and white made it just a little more bearable. I hope you did take some pics and are going to post them. I may not want to live where it snows, but I do enjoy seeing pics of snow. Sounds like your barbeque was great yesterday!!

The only plans I have for tomorrow that I can count on is the gym. God Bless the Gym!

Have a great night everyone. See you tomorrow!

Well, my sis is gone. She got snowed in with us last night. She came to our house because we weren''t watching the game. My dad called her (she''s a sr in high school) and told her the roads were terrible (he runs the town''s plow) and told her to stay. So, that was fun. It''s kind of weird to have a sibling ten years younger. I was married by the time she was 9, so now we try to catch up on junk food, gossip and movies.

Julianna I did just get to the point where I was glad there was any oxygen. I didn''t care if I stayed with their slow and steady each movement breath. I was red in the face and glistening on the forehead! not even small columns, eh?
9.gif

Skippy Sorry you haven''t felt well. GOOD job and packing up half your meal to go! Few of our restaurants even have a website, let alone nutritional info. It would be a whole lot easier to watch your weight. (of course, the restaurants we frequent are all steak houses or italian places. I guess if you''re frequenting those places, they figure you really don''t care what you''re shoving down your gullet!) And, thanks for the cheers for me and my yoga. I never knew this about me, but apparently, I like to hear "yays" and "good jobs". Hmmm...I''ve never had that before, but I quite enjoy it!
2.gif

Kimberly Wow! Keeping off that weight is great!

Erica Hi. I totally understand the eating what SO eats. DH has the same food tastes as your BF.

DD Good luck with that tushy kicking.

Rod I know you''re probably biting at the bit to get a job, but your current lifestyle sounds wonderful! Just out of curiosity, are you looking at a career change or a job in the same as what you''ve done previously? BTW-Our nearest Starbucks is 35 miles away.

Well, Have a Great Tomorrow, everyone!! I know it''s going to be a fantastic day!

Happy Monday. I made tacos for supper, mmm. I sent my husband an email earlier today and told him I was starving so much my pants were baggy. He thinks I’m flaky sometimes.
I got the new USB cable today for my digital camera and it works okay. Woo hoo! I knew there was no way Pentax would fix that problem on warranty.
Ladypirate, sorry to hear about Kris throwing his back out. Marty is 6’4” and we struggle with a queen sized bed too; his feet hang over the end. Thanks for the kind words about my accomplishments.
Lorelei, thanks for wonderful opener for this week. I agree that we have to be diligent at attempting to eat right and healthy most of the time and learn to wisely choose our treats. I know that I will have to be counting calories the rest of my life but that is fine with me because the reward is looking and feeling a great deal better. Also being healthy enough to workout is such a huge step for me. Thanks for saying such nice things about me too; I appreciate it.
Steph, I hope you were able to get all your chores done today. Thanks for the compliment; I would have to agree I do not look like the same person and I am pretty happy about that.
Appletini, thanks for the layer dip recipe. I think I could get in one the legs of my old pants. I have a pair of sweat pants and sweater from before. I plan on taking a photo with them on when I loose ½ of my former weight. It should be fun to see.
Kimi, congratulations for getting back to 126. Woo hoo. Sorry the first graders gave you a headache today. Rest up.
Welcome DD. It sounds like you and your husband are doing great on your new program. Thanks for the tips from your nutritionist. Thanks for the nice compliment, I do feel like a totally new person.
Rod, I am glad you were able to take in some Sun with your gorgeous weather today and naturally I am delighted to hear you enjoyed the stars tonight. I am glad your cold is better.
Shortblonde, I am delighted to hear you are feeling better. Thanks for saying I look great.
Golden, yay for your mom being on ww. That will be nice for both of you to be on it together.
Julianna, I hope your ribs feel better soon. Yay for some dates with your treadmill this week. Thanks for the kind words about my before and after photos. I love bread too and of course it’s better warm and with butter.
CrownJewel, restaurant week sounds fun. That is nice you get to go out and try some different things. Thanks for the compliment.
CD, I think how much you can loose in a month depends on how much you weigh. It sounds like you are working hard at eating right and working out. I am sure you’ll see more results soon so don’t get discouraged. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Somethingshiny. I love chocolate cheesecake too. I am glad I’ve given you inspiration. Yay for a good morning of yoga. That sounds like fun catching up with your little sister.
Welcome PW. Congratulations on loosing 35 pounds. I hate when I hit a plateau.
Skippy, I agree if we completely avoid junk foods we crave them less. Thanks for the words of encouragement about my progress. Sorry to hear you were feeling bad this morning. I hope you feel better now. It sounds like it was a good day to stay in though. I am glad the snow is pretty. I love being able to pick my meal before I go to a restaurant. I always do that when we go out too.
Welcome Erica.
Have a great evening.
Marcy

SS, Mondays are thread changeover days, so look for a new one then! No worries!

Jules, yes, a certain graffiti artist named ELLEN defaced my wabbit!!
face20.gif

Welcome to the thread PW and Erica!

Jules, I am a bread loving fiend and I could make a meal of it anyday in a restaurant and a large dish of butter!!! Also I make fantastic bread if I do say so myself, but I make it, slice it, then freeze it into portions, as that helps me to not pig out on it! It comes back to life perfectly if frozen.

Ok, last night's weights was pants, I felt really weak and lacked strength. I didn't sleep very well the night before so that might have been it..oh well.

On a positive note, I have been ' lifting' now for 3 weeks, Hubby says I am really looking great!! I can't see it myself, I can say I feel more toned, but nothing much. I guess we don't notice these things so much ourselves!

Thanks for all your kind words about my opener, and Marcy I am so excited to hear of your progress with working out, I know you will be amazed at how it will help you maintain and give you more energy!

Hi All!

I have a question for Kim and Marcy. I know you''ve both posted that you''ve lost a significan''t amount of weight and I''m wondering how you did it. I know, eating well and exercising, but specifically -- how? What changes did you make? Waht became your daily or weekly regimine (sp?).

I''ve been so frustrated lately. I eat low fat or fat free everything practically and I''ve been exercising more. I had terrible back pain a while ago and it was to the point that my doctor wondered if I had kidney stones. It turns out that I don''t and I think it was just a really bad pulled muscle or something. I didn''t lose any weight when I was seeing a personal trainer at the gym and that was frustrating too.

With my wedding looming, all I can think about it my dress and how I wish I could lose a lot of weight in time. I know there''s no magic cure but I could use a pep talk.

I have to leave for work soon but I''ll check back later this evening.

Have a good day!

thanks everyone for the advice!! You gals/guy rock
36.gif
I''m super motivated to keep the workouts up and I can at least say I definitely FEEL better. Even if I don''t see any changes in the mirror yet.

I went to the gym for an hour yesterday and increased my cardio to 40 minutes. I did 25 min on the ellipitical and 15 min on the treadmill. Then I did arms.

Dreamer - Thanks for the advice on eating. I do all of those things...well maybe not all of my snacks contain the protein/carb combo, I''ll have to try that. But I definitely NEED the mid-morning and afternoon snacks as I just feel sick if not. As for fiber I eat at least 20 grams of fiber a day. If I make soup for my lunches then it well exceeds that because of the beans (on those days I probably get more like 35 grams!!!)...scary...but I drink a ton of water so I usually don''t have too much of a problem
9.gif
. But I haven''t done the soup thing in a couple of weeks because I was getting tired of it. Maybe next week I''ll incorporate it again.

I''m hitting the gym again today. I''m aiming for 5 gym days this week.

Zoe - Try not to stress too much about losing the weight before your wedding. I know for me, the more I stress about losing weight, the less I loss. Often times I GAIN because of stressing out about my weight/appearance. I know it''s easier said than done, because my own wedding is just about 4 months away, but try to be realisitic about what you will be able to lose from now until the wedding. I used to be 15 lbs heavier (a few years ago) and the day I stopped stressing about it (well and also eliminated some toxic people in my life) I lost the weight. I mainly lost it by walking. And of course changing my eating habits little by little. Not sure I''m helping...hehe...but I''m trying

Zoe, how much weight do you want to lose, and when is the wedding? Lets really talk about this if you want and see if we can get you on the right track!

Could you list what you are doing for food and exercise? Often keeping a food diary is so revealing and it might help. I too have a bad back and it can make exercising hard, as I am in pain of some description all the time, and it could have been your back went into a spasm, and that is why it was so painful. Hang in there girl!

Hi Zoe,

I lost 68 lbs. 6 years ago, gained 6 back over a 5 year period then lost 12 more beginning January 2007. The first time I lost weight it was on a loosely based version of Weight Watchers. I didn''t really like the points thing and I''m not a meetings kinda gal. I didn''t want to sit around and talk about food, I spent enough time thinking about it, craving it, etc. my goal was to get away from my food obsession. I know several people here are big fans of WW and I think it''s great that it works for them, it just wasn''t for me.

While I was on WW I really limited the types of foods I ate. I lived off of bean and fat free cheese burritos, baked potatoes w/ chili on top, cereal, etc. I did not eat a ton of fruits and veggies, like I should have (and I b & c burritos made me gag by the time I was done). It simply wasn''t the best way for me to eat, but it worked at the time. I have now developed a love of fresh fruits and veggies and really expanded my cooking skills, so I now eat tons of healthy, and yummy foods and really enjoy everything I make. I like food, nothing is going to change that, so I''ve learned to make food I like that is also good for me.

My best suggestions for you are:

1. Write down everything you eat, including caloric amounts and fat. Tracking food made me aware of how much you''re eating. Figure out a healthy amount for you (check out www.sparkpeople.com I eat at the higher end of my range from them) and stick to it. If you eat something not-so-great, don''t decide the day or week is shot, just keep going and alter your food choices for the rest of the day to remain within your calorie range.

2. Choose one or two things you aren''t willing to give up and don''t. I eat slow churned ice cream approx. 4 times a week and I have a glass of wine with dinner most nights, because this has to be a permanent way of living for me and I won''t do it if I can''t have a few things I love. I just work them into my daily calories.

3. Move. Exercise hasn''t had a huge impact on my weight loss (I''d say its 85% what I eat 15% how much I move) but it keeps me focused and feeling great.

4. Take it one day at a time and listen to your body, it will tell you what it wants and needs.

I need to get ready for work, but I hope this helps a bit. I know you can do it!

Happy Tuesday. I hope everyone has a great day.
36.gif

Lorelei, your wabbit is adorable. I love bunnies. Sorry to hear your weightercises were pants last night. I am sure not sleeping well contributed to that. I hope you sleep better tonight. I am looking forward to the vast improvements I will see from using the TM 3 times a week.
Zoe, I count calories shooting for 1200 to 1400 calories per day. The more I go along and know I am in control the easier it has become. I bought a diet scale and use calorieking.com to determine the calories in food. I stay away from processed food as much as possible. I eat lean meats, some bread, potatoes or pasta, fresh fruits and vegetables. I eat 6 times a day shooting for BF of about 200 cals, a mid morning and mid afternoon 100 cal snack, lunch and supper about 300 to 400 cals and a treat at night which recently has been slow churned ice cream. I walk as much as I can, do stretches and free weights and just recently started using a treadmill. Sorry to hear you are frustrated because it sounds like you are eating right and working out. I would suggest weighing your food on a scale, writing down what you eat and the calories you consumed. I decided I had to change or I was headed for major health issues. I view this as a healthy lifestyle that I plan to stay on for life. It’s not short term; it’s not a diet but something I choose to do – day after day. How much do you want to loose? When is your wedding? You will find a ton of help, tips and support here. A lot of us use sparkpeople.com. You can track your calories, determine calories burned and has some great forums.
CD, you will see results just hang in there and it’s great to hear you are feeling better. Yay for increasing your cardio.
Have a great day my WWT friends.
Marcy

LOL Marcy! Actually I own the cutest bunny in the world, his name is Noddy or Nunnidge and he is a bearded wabbit, so cute! He lives in the house and has a blast!

Oh boy my pantercises sure were last night, Hubby was bellowing at me like a drill sergeant...sniff....
39.gif

I am really excited to share the treddy with you Marcy, I know you will really be pleased with the positive things it will do for you!

I''m so excited. One of the women I work with does a partner session with a personal trainer in the gym downstairs once a week, and her partner just got a new position and is now working at a different location, and I had asked her if I could have the new spot...she sometimes goes to TBT with me, and she said that since she knows how I workout, she''d like to have me as her new PT partner...so I think I will be starting that next week...probably on Thurs. I''m not going to tell DH, I''m curious to see how long it will take him to notice.

Good morning everyone!
35.gif
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I am feeling much better this week after a stressful week at work and being sick last week, not to mention a few days away from the gym (which is unusual for me). The past three days, I have been hitting the gym hard with cardio training on the ellipticals and mixing in more weight training. I know how important it is to include that as part of a workout routine and have to work harder at trying to keep the weight training in the mix (I tend to gravitate towards mostly cardio). Here''s to a good week of weight loss and getting stronger!

somethingshiny - Thanks for the welcome! I am really looking forward to being part of such an amazing support group. Yoga is something that I have been considering - how long have you been doing it?

Skippy123 - Thanks for the welcome!

KimberlyH - It''s nice to know I am in such good company and great support and that there are others who understand the struggle. Thanks for the welcome!

EricaR - Welcome!

35.gif
I am new here too and very much looking forward to the support of these great guys and gals!

Rod - Thanks for the welcome! Hope you are feeling better soon. And I have to second your "God Bless the Gym"!

marcyc - Hi! Thanks for the welcome. And I agree - plateaus are the pits! Hopefully I won''t be at mine much longer!

Lorelei - Thanks! Loving the bunny lashes too

emsmile.gif

ZoeBartlett - I know how hard it is but try not to be frustrated. The others have brought up some great ideas as to minimizing your stress, writing down what you eat, and being active. Consistency is the key - you can do it! And we''re all here to support you on your journey

-PW

Morning all! My tummy is better, thanks for the sweet wishes (I think it was a little bug). Tonight is muscle hour, yay!! Hubby and I traded cars since mine does better in the snow. The snow melted off the roads today but it is still on the ground so it looks so pretty.
30.gif
In the picture is a small corner of my backyard when the snow started; a bit more was added since that pic was taken earlier in the afternoon yesterday. Hubby and I went for a short walk outdoors last night and it was so peaceful and beautiful to see the snow at night. Last night I watched the New Adventures of the Old Christine, that show cracks me up. hehee

Somethingshiny, we all need kudos; I have read that people do better w/positive talk etc so any good things we do for ourselves is wonderful. You sound like you are doing great w/your yoga. Glad you had time to visit w/your little sister last night; I bet she loved catching up w/her big sis!

Rod, I am glad you are having fab weather out there! Have a great workout today and hope you and Charlie feel better, hug!

Marcy, yum, your dinner sounds good; yay for baggy pants!

Lorelei, hope you sleep better tonight, yay for 3 weeks of weights! I am sure you are toned, it takes awhile to see but you are doing do things for your bones and muscles.

Zoe, stick around and good to see ya!

CDT, great on going to the gym and working out!

Hey Kimberly, hope you feel better today!

Eta: Patientlywaiting, great job for your 3x a week workouts!

Have a great day everyone

Hi everyone--just have time for a quick update. I''ll try to hop back on and reply to everyone''s posts later today!

Kris and I drove down to LA yesterday to do some errands--we went to my favorite restaurant down there, which was delicious. We split a cheese plate with some salami and then I had rapini and marscapone ravioli with brown butter and sage and a side of snap peas. SO GOOD. In the evening we met up with a friend of mine and had a beer and I had a small cup of clam chowder. It was a really nice day.

Welcome to everyone who has joined recently--this is a great group!

OK, I''m off to run errands like a madwoman. Have a great Tuesday, all!

I did 30 minutes on the elliptical today.

However I think I might be getting sick, last night I had the odd throat feeling and we were out of airborne, so I picked some up on the way to work today since I still had the feeling, but this afternoon I feel really blah, throat feeling and upset tummy. And we are going to Napa for the weekend so I really don''t want to be sick for that.

My "AHA" moment. As I sit here, reading all of your posts, and reminiscing about my recent workouts, I''ve realized something. HUMOR is my motivation. Being able to laugh at myself and with others (okay, sometimes AT others) keeps me working out. Getting a chuckle really makes me happy. Happiness makes me what to continue what I''m doing. (I know, no big woop, but it really is a big deal for me to realize why working out never stuck before.)

Marcy I chuckled at the "baggy pants" comment. When I''m starving I tell DH that I''m going to blow away. Then I suck in my stomach as much as possible and say, "see you can see my ribs", because that''s the only way to see my ribs.

Lorelei I bake bread too, but I''ve never thought of freezing it. (because store bought bread never turns out the same) What do you freeze it in? BTW-I always think it''s better for DH to notice the physical changes. That means he''s checking me out..

Zoe I certainly haven''t had the success that some of the people here have, but personally, calories and exercise don''t make that big of a difference in my body. More of the changes I see come from eating the right amounts of foods. I tend to slack on fiber and protein and carb-load. But, when I up the fiber and protein (even keeping the carbs the same), I do notice a difference in a short period of time. Also, your FI loves you for you, not for who you''d be if you were thinner. You will be a beautiful bride!

cdt Great workout!

appletini That is awesome! very exciting! Oh, and I hope you''re not getting sick, too.

PW I''ve only been doing yoga for about a month. I''ve done it nearly everyday, and I absolutely love it. I didn''t intend to start working out, though. We got an expanded cable pack with a Fitness TV. I was all
20.gif
. But, I started flipping channels one day and came across a program with yoga. It was really calming for some reason, just to watch. Then I came across it a couple more times, and I thought "I can do that". So, I got on the carpeted floor and tried. I could do some of it, some of it kicked my butt, and the carpet killed me. So, I grabbed the mat that I have my Gazelle on (you know, the laundry hanger). I went back to watch the program again and have been doing it ever since. Julianna has been doing yoga for a few years (with an instructor) so just being able to talk with her has helped keep me motivated.

Skippy I love the snowy pic. I keep wanting to take pics of our beautiful wonderland, but everytime I try, we end up rolling around instead. (which admittedly, is much more fun!)

ladypirate That meal sounds delish! How come most errands are run like a "madwoman"???

Have a lovely day, all!

SS, this is what I do. I normally shape my dough into baguettes, bake, cool, then slice. I then put 4 slices into those plastic self seal sandwich bags, then pop them in the freezer. I either carefully nuke them without the bag to defrost, or get the slices out a while before I need them. The bread comes out beautifully!

Thanks, Lorelei!

BTW-I''m pretty sure it''s because we''re PSers, but I immediately thought of diamonds while reading your post...

Hey Everyone,

I guess my news for the day is I have an interview tomorrow. I''m not sure about the job, but I have a friend who works for the company in NC., and he absolutely loves the firm. I''m meeting with the founder tomorrow afternoon. It''s my first real interview since being laid off, so we''ll see where it goes. I did something I''ve never done in my entire life today and that''s file for unemployment. It''s a thoroughly humbling (and even a bit embarrasing) experience to say the least. At least you can do it on-line from your home computer. I''m not sure I could handle going to an unemployment office in person. But I''m entitled to it and I may as well get it. We''ve decided to take another day of rest from the gym as we''re both still battling the cold still. It is definitely better, but perhaps another rest day won''t be a bad thing. I''ll go to the gym directly from my interview tomorrow afternoon for sure.

somethingshiny.......I wish I could really answer your question about what I''m looking for. I guess I''m trying to bank on my past experience for my future job. But, I wouldn''t mind doing something completely different. It''s just not so easy to get a high paying job doing something you''ve never done before.

Glad you enjoyed your taco''s Marcy.

Sorry your workout was pants Lorelei. Not sleeping well can certainly negatively impact a workout for sure. I''m sure your next workout will be much better!

JoeBartlett, I fould cutting out all fats did not help me. I''ve read that fat free diets often don''t work. Of course there''s good fat and there''s bad fat. For example almonds are a good nutrition source and high in good fats. I eat almonds throughout the day (in moderation of course) and lost a lot of weight doing that. You migth want to read up on good vs bad fats. Kimberly offered some great advice!!

Good luck with your new partner training sessions Appletini. That''s what Charlie and I did was partner with a trainer and it was fantastic for us both!

PW, good for you hitting the gym hard. Keep up the hard work!!!

I''m so glad your tummy is feeling better Skippy and thanks for posting the beautiful snow scene for us warm weather folks to see! Enjoy Muscle Hour tonight!!

I''ll check back in later. I hope you all had a great day today!!

hey everyone...! we got back from buffalo last nite and holy crap did we have the world's worst trip. delayed going out there, delayed coming home so that we flew out monday instead of sunday and just stayed with our friends on sun night and watched the game and hung out rather than trying to fly through evil chicago.

nothing super new to report...actually nothing 'new'. ate whatever i wanted during the trip which is typical...a ton of sweets, pizza and buffalo wings (mmm), worked out 2x on the ellitpical at their house for 30 minutes and then one trip to the actual big gym where i ran for 30 minutes and did abs and some triceps. at the airport we both did a lot of walking as we had 1-3 hour layovers, so one of them we just walked from terminal to terminal checking out shops and seeing what we wanted to eat etc...so we did get a lot of activity in.

and our friends have kids so they carry a fair amount of 'healthier' items also in their house, so one morning i made protein pancakes which were yummy. and ate whole wheat muffins, sandwiches on whole wheat bread. so while we consumed a lot of crap, we ate some good stuff too.

clothes fit me fine this morning so i guess i didn't gain anything which is good. feels great to be back home and on routine again!!! i had egg whties and english muffin for breakkie; chicken grilled kebabs, hummus, salad for lunch. cookie and a truffle from ireland for snack. dinner will be something healthy, not sure what. i need to hit up TJ's and restock everything in our fridge as well....so will do that later tonite. am supposed to work out tonite on my own (running or elliptical) but since i worked out last 3 days in a row, might take a break. we'll see. i don't want to overdo it and i'm still tired from our ridiculous flight schedule.

welcome to the new gals, i haven't really read at all this week or end of last week but at quick glance looks like everyone is plugging along as usual and doing quite well.

lorelei i totally agree with your opener. sometimes i get depressed when i think gosh i am going to have to 90% watch what i eat for the rest of my life.

and then i realize...well you know what, it's not that hard. take this trip for example. i made some bad food choices, i knew i would, and i seriously enjoyed them. ate a ton of sweets, chocolate, candy, whatever. but also when we sat down at a restaurant to eat breakkie, i thought, okay i need my protein, even if i have pancakes. so i got egg whites on the side. when faced with the choice between white and wheat, i always choose wheat. pancakes were blueberry oatmeal. so fiber and protein. when i ate a sub, i ate it open faced. when we had a burger at the airport yesterday, i ate it open faced, no mayo. i don't even really THINK about doing these little things anymore. so i think eventually it will just all be like that. yes i will still indulge, i love my sweets as you all know and i could never give that up. i wouldn't want to really. but i will make the right choices for my body whenever possible. and i will always work out in some way/shape/form...whether it's muscle training, dance, cardio, or all three. that's my life and i should enjoy it but also respect it as well.

speaking of respecting the life and body, i was supposed to get donuts today for my coworkers from this fab place that Yelpers love in my area, but we ate some dunkin donuts on the way home last nite and seriously i was looking to get back into routine this morning and craving protein, so i will get them tomorrow morning instead for the gals, and just have one for me.

rod good luck on your interview.

PW I''ve only been doing yoga for about a month. I''ve done it nearly everyday, and I absolutely love it. I didn''t intend to start working out, though. We got an expanded cable pack with a Fitness TV. I was all

. But, I started flipping channels one day and came across a program with yoga. It was really calming for some reason, just to watch. Then I came across it a couple more times, and I thought ''I can do that''.
WOOT! Yoga is one of my favorite parts of the week (if not my favorite, sometimes). Even though I never feel like I''m getting the breathing quiiiite right, I still get a feeling of accomplishment when the hour and a half is over. And after a LONG time, that down dog gets easier. Not easy, but easiER. In any event, I''m happy you''re able to keep it up at home and that you''re enjoying yourself. I did Pilates for a looooong time at home before I was ever in a class and really enjoyed it.

Julianna~ I''ve been able to do downdog since day one. I''ve lost my balance a couple times but that''s all. Now, plow pose kicked my butt. And, today''s crane was non-existent. Especially because my two year old kept taking it as his cue to pull my pants down. My sis tried doing yoga with me (she''s 18 and a jock, totally in great shape) and she couldn''t do downdog much or any part of the swan pose. But, she can crane! Isn''t it funny how different poses are easy for some and difficult for others?

So you can do down dog, ehhhh? That means you have arm strength. I have neither arm strength nor hamstring flexibility, so I can DO it, I just can't STAY in it. I feel like my arms are going to collapse. We are like yoga opposites! I do a fantastic plow and/or shoulder stand. Sometimes I even stay in plow during the cooldown at the end because it feels natural to me. I do quite well in swan as well, but there is NO. WAY. I am EVER getting into crane. That's all arms, that's your specialty (or your buff sister's...).

We are complimentary yogis! If you put us together, we make one complete yogi. There's something to be said for that.

ETA: HEE HEE about the pantsing from your two year old. That'd be semi-distracting, I admit.

Back from muscle hour, lots of lunges, squats, core, sit ups, push ups, tricep kickbacks, curls, rows, all that fun stuff. hehe Nothing exciting going on here; it is suppose to warm up into the 40's tomorrow and by Saturday in the 50's.

Mara, welcome back, no fun on waiting in airports. I bet your friend was glad to see ya!

Rod, whoooo hoooo for the interview tomorrow! Sending good interview vibes for tomorrow (doubt you will need them)!

Ladypirate, you are making me hungry, I love clam chowder

Apple, yay for the elliptical!

SS, glad you can see the humor (I need some humor). hehee Great on the workout!

Hey Miss Julianna, yay for yoga. Yoga helps me when I am stressed, isn't it funny how we forget to breath and it helps me sleep better at night. I need to get my butt to yoga. hehe

Have a good evening all!

Hi everyone! Been hugely busy trying to get everything ready for our move. Just wanted to stop in and say hello!

Rod: Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes!

As promised I kicked my tushy at the gym. Did 25 minutes of HARD HILLS (170 heart rate) on the bike and my tushy hurts now from the workout. Then 10 minutes of stretching and 100 situps. Not the best, but better than nothing!

Today my best friend told me I look tiny! haha... I guess working out is working out! She''s a size 4 so I take her compliment with a grain of salt but it still feels good.

Tomorrow I am off to the US for a conference for 5 days... I will be really good but it''s near Mexico so I will eat mexican food, my FAVOURITE!!! Yeah beans and cheese!

I won''t post till I get back, but keep it up folksies!

Good Evening All!

Welcome back, Mara, sorry traveling was such a disaster, but it sounds like your trip was fun.

Great job working out, DD and Skippy!

Julianna and SS, I took a beginners yoga class and loved it. I am fairly high strung and it really helped center me. A neighbor offers classes in her home dance studio and all this talk is making me think I should join. I''ve put myself on a $ spending hiatus until I complete my M.Ed, because it has been such an expensive understaking between lost salary, which will only get worse during 12 weeks of unpaid student teaching, and the cost of school itself. I think I''ll be joining a gym as soon as I graduate, and hopefully they''ll have classes available.

Good luck tomorrow, Rod. Hope this job is one that intrigues you!

I am sitting down after a long, busy day. I spent my second and last day in that 1st grade classroom; such fun kiddos! After work I'' spent a lot of time on the phone. There is some bad stuff involving the care facility where my grandmother lives going on and when my mom called with some more bad news today I assumed something else had happened, but this was not grandmother related: my cousin''s wife died in her sleep last night. She was in her early 50s and there is no cause of death as of yet. So I spent a lot of time on the phone with family, then headed out to vote and buy groceries, then came home and cooked dinner. We had butternut squash pasta and salad.

I still have a nasty headache, although the cold is finally going away. I will workout tomorrow, must do so to get 4 workouts in this week.

Have a great evening all!

Thanks for well wishes on my interview tomorrow! I also have an interview a week from tomorrow, but I''m not sure how they got my resume (it was forwarded internally?) and they didn''t say they actually had a position, just that they wanted to meet with me. At least there''s some interest and that feels good.

As I mentioned earlier, we decided another day of rest would do us good. So, I met Charlie at one of our fav places and ROD HAD A PIZZA - WOO HOO!! I so wanted pizza and they make really good homemade ones that are plate sized, 4 pieces really. I had a traditional pizza with sausage, mushrooms and fresh spinach. I ate EVERY single bite. It''s the first time I''ve had pizza in over a year, so I really really enjoyed it.

We have a sick kitty. She''s not been well for a long long time, but this time, she has an eye infection and I''m not holding out a lot of hope for her. At the kitties last exam, the vet nicely tried to prepare us that this is likely going to be her last year with us. We''re just not ready to say goodbye. I''ll make an appointment to take her in on Thursday morning. Poor thing she weighs so little and we''ve done everything we could over the last couple years to make her well, but she''s not a healthy cat. This isn''t the kittie who almost died last year (Sakai the Burmese). Sakai is doing great and is healthy as can be. This is our Bombay (Koh), who has just never been a really healthy cat. We''re just heartsick over the possibilty. Hopefully, the vet will have some hope.

That''s about it for the night. I''ll check in tomorrow and certainly let you know how my interview goes tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck tomorrow Rod - and fingers crossed your kitty will have a turnaround. Animals are such a part of the family, aren't they? Don't feel bad about unemployment - you have been paying your hard earned $ into that all the time you have been working (payroll taxes) and now it's your turn to use some of it.

I did 20 min of running intervals and 30 min of weight circuit training.

Seven months of working out at this gym and I still know NOBODY except the people who work there. Started talking about marathons with someone tonight - literally one of the first conversations I've had at this gym. At my old gym I knew tons of ppl. This gym is much... quieter. I'm pretty outgoing too.
