Heehee! I do indeed know the drill and now I am craving sweet plain scones with slightly salted and golden butter, a suggestion of strawberry preserves and clotted cream. Along with a pot of tea, natch, and delicate china cups....

If anyone would like an English scone recipe, I can post one sometime. Cheese scones are also very nice.

*waving arms around madly* ME ME ME! I loves me some scone!

Julianna, thanks for the compliment on the avatar! I know how you feel about downward facing dog--I always felt so awkward because it seemed like EVERYONE else could do it and I just couldn''t. Oh well, keep trying I guess.
3.gif
Maybe if we both work at it, we can have a hamstring hoedown!
Oh THANKS, now on Sunday at yoga I''m going to be in down dog and think about you and the "hamstring hoedown" and I''ll probably laugh and fall over.

Ah, but how do you pronounce it? I remember this being the subject of much debate when I lived in Yorkshire--ScOHn, or ScAHn?

I''m no Brit, so no credibility here, but if anyone here in the States says "ScAHn", I point and laugh.

I say scone as if it rhymes with stone, some say scohnn.

ROFL at hamstring hoedown!!

Okay yah! Tomorrow, I will post a scone recipe!

Afternon everyone.........

My cold definitely decided to move to my head and I'm pretty stopped up, but not sneezing, coughing or runny nose. I had my dental cleaning this morning, which is always a nice thing. I'm very fussy about my teeth and I floss and brush several times a day as I hate the feeling of things sticking to and in-between my teeth. I'm still feeling a little off, but will likely push myself to go to the gym in a little while. A workout should help me.

Mara, Minneapolis last week, Buffalo this week?? Wow, you couldn't have picked two more cold and snowy locales!! I use Simply Sleep to help me get to sleep quickly. It's really the PM part of Tylenol PM without the Tylenol. It doesn't make me groggy, but does make some people groggy. To be on the safe side, you might to buy some Melatonin (like 3mg). Melatonin is what our bodies make to help us fall asleep, only as we grow older, our bodies make less and less of it. It works great from some, and not so great for some (I'm one of the few it doesn't really do much for).

Hey Gail, sorry to hear you're in a career goal dilemma. Thanks for the encouragement. And doesn't being a worrier suck??!

Apple, glad you HH was waiting at the door for you when you got home!!

Good for you Golden being down 3.5 pounds!!

Enjoy your walk this afternoon Skippy!!

Sorry you were under the weather ladypirate, but it sounds like the extra rest did you good!!

Oh and I think you all know Rod loves his Scones Too! Panera,Tart Cherry Scones every Saturday and Sunday morning for sure!!

Have a good afternoon y'all.........

Well, I wasn''t doing downdog, but during triangle, I got a little off-balance. And, the hoedown ensued.

BTW- Trying one of the Healthy Eats tonight. Should I do the Dijon Chicken (no teragon, yucky!) Or the Light Fettucine Alfredo (which I''ve only made with heavy cream, not milk)

Okay, I think I must be a nut
41.gif
, I just got back from a 2.5 mile walk in 32 degree weather that according to the weather says feels like 24 degrees. I was bundled up w/scarf, gloves, hat, and 2 jackets. hehee I think I will make some chicken sausage ravioli for dinner and a big salad. All this talk of scones, and alfredo is making me hungry
3.gif

Ladypirate, I hope when you were in Taos you got to go to Outback Pizza; they have the best salads! Wow, I bet they do have awesome lightning storms. Best wishes in the job search! Awesome for doing hills and your run!!!

Lorelei and Julianna I want a good scone recipe!

Rod, hope you feel better and are resting. If you live out here I would bring over some chicken noodle soup to ya. Hope you had a great workout!

Somethingshiny, yay for yoga! Go for the Light Fettucine Alfredo, can you thin out the cream, not sure how you would do that? hehe

Hope everyone stays warm and has a great evening!!!

Skippy~ I was actually going to try the milk recipe instead of the 10,000 calories of cream. But, I''m really skeptical of the flavor difference, not so much for me, but for DH. Maybe I''ll try half and half instead. Bring him down slowly from the super heavy meals we always eat.

Yay for you walking in the cold! Not sure about that, but, ya know, YAY for you anyway!!

Enjoy your dinner--sounds yummers!

Thanks for the cheer! Oh, I see. Yum, I know who's house I am going over to for dinner;

yeah, easy him in slowly. I think I tried a milk recipe and I could taste the difference but it was still very very good.

Off to find me a snack. hehee

G''afternoon!

I can''t believe it, I''m getting sick again. Sore throat, temp, stuffy head. Grrr! I ended up at 1250 calories yesterday, intended to eat some ice cream last night but fell sound asleep at 8:30.

I''m drinking some tea to sooth my throat and am so sleepy, that could be the illness taking over or the fact that I worked with a group of wonderfully energetic kids today. I may just go take a nap. And J is sick too, so we''re in it together this time.

We''re having ribs for dinner, they''re in the crockpot, along with fruit salad and beans. Should be good.

Mara, your trip sounds so fun, enjoy!

lady, calorie counting makes all the difference for me. Some people have a lot more freedom with eating, but my body responds really well to regimented eating.

Have a good rest of the day everyone.

Ok, all the sick people, please take care of yourselves! Rod, you told me to relax and take it easy when I was really sick, so don''t overdo it!

Today was a break day for me. Oh, and we just remembered that we closed on our house a year ago today, so we invited our neighbor friends over for a champagne aperitif.

Ah the luxuries of being unemployed. Here it is 7:45 PM and I not only completed a good and full 2.5 hour workout, but I stopped and had a cup of coffee under the oak. Charlie was just arriving at the gym when I was finishing up, so I''m waiting for him to come home. We still have some of the turkey noodle soup I made after Thanksgiving (frozen of course), so I think we''ll have that with a slice of bread. I''m still not feeling 100%, but will hopefully feel better tomorrow. It is funny that I feel absolutely fine while working out. My nose opens up, my chest is less tight, but then just after the workout, I start to get some of the symptoms back. I hope what the article said about working out with a cold being good for you is right. There was absolutely no, nadda, zipp-movemnet on the job hunt front today. That''s a bit frightening, but I know it will take some time to find something. Otherwise, it wasn''t a bad day all around.

I''m not sure whether to congratulate you or laugh somethingshiny, so I''ve just decided to congratulate you for your hoedown during triangle. What, by the way is "triangle?"

Good for you walking 2.5 miles in such COOOOOOLD weather Skippy. Your dinner sounds quite yummy and thanks for offering to make me chicken soup if I were closer. I wish I was as I''m sure Skippy soup would make me feel ever so much better!

Oh Kimberly, I''m so sorry you''re catching something again. Most people I know who work with young children, spend the winter months fighting one infection after another. I''m afraid the little one''s seem to be breeding grounds for colds and flu. You get some rest and feel better soon.

Happy one year anniversary in your house Phoenix. I hope you and the neighbors enjoy your Champagne celebration. And thanks for the advice on taking it easy. Rod is good at giving advice, but not always so good about following his own advice. Actually, I''m hoping that working out will actually make this stupid cold go away faster. I''ve read that it does, now I''m putting it to the test.

Tomorrow''s Friday, which I guess is just another day to me, EXCEPT it is Sushi night and I''ll look forward to that. Have a nice night everyone!!

Rod~

THIS is the triangle pose I was doing.

So true, Rod! The kids I work with most often are also a lot more hands-on than neurotypical kids, so a lot more touching, closeness, shared space. Yesterday one of the boys was obsessed with sticking his hands on my face, in my nose, etc. Because we are largely focused on teaching social skills and punishment isn''t an option (it would be like putting a newborn in timeout for crying) there''s lots of prompting, "Nicky, personal space please." as opposed to "You''re in time out." It''s all just part of the job, and I wouldn''t trade my job for anything, but I get sick so easily.

I didn''t take a nap, just hung out on the couch. I am working tomorrow and need to be geared up for it. I have a feeling we''ll be ending our day with a movie. They''re going to read Charlotte''s Web over the next several weeks, so I think we''ll watch the movie to kick off their new unit. Friday is also cooking day, we''re going to make dirt with pudding, smashed Oreo''s and gummy worms. The kids will love it. So it should be a fairly relaxed day and then the weekend to recoup.

Have a great evening all.

Yet another reason you should be in line for Sainthood Kimberly. What you do with these children is simply heartwarmingly amazing!

I''ve said it before, Rod, I''m no saint. These kids certainly test my limits on occasion, I just adore them enough that it outweighs the frustration and anger I sometimes feel. Any compassionate human who met these kiddos would fall in love instantly, it''s impossible not to.

I think I''m going to go crawl into bed and watch some TV.

''Night all (for real this time)

Hi everyone. I hope you are having a great day and staying warm. I did have a tiny bite of a brownie at work today. It is so rich I wouldn’t have wanted any more. I did meet a girl friend for dinner tonight and ate some nachos, 1 ¼ pieces of pizza and some apple / ice cream dessert. I walked for 21 minutes on the treadmill tonight.
Lorelei, I am glad Windex helped with the evilcises. See it can cure everything including making our diamonds sparkle. I decided to go for 20 minutes on the TM and just take it very easy for awhile. Ouch for your knee creaking.
Appletini, I am glad you had a nice outing for lunch with your buddies.
Golden, congratulations for loosing 3.5 pounds. That is wonderful. Thanks for telling me about wearing red tomorrow. I will do that.
Julianna, I used to get up an hour early and do leg weights for my knees. It was just something I had to do and hated doing it at night. You are certainly my hero for getting up in the morning to go work out.
Mara, it must be the week for brownies. Have a fun and safe trip to NY.
CrownJewel, I hope you get rested up.
Skippy, I am glad you were able to get a nice walk in today – even thought it was so cold there. Do you still have snow on the ground? My husband said it was pretty cold in Phoenix today.
Ladypirate, you sure had a good night''s sleep. Sorry for making your crave chocolate. The miniature candy bars are about 35 calories. I can even get 4 or 5 bites out them.
Rod, sorry to hear your head is so stuffed up. Take it easy and get better soon. I am glad to hear you had a great workout at the gym today.
Somethingshiny, let me know how the alfredo sauce turns out with milk. That stuff is so good too bad it is so fattening.
Kimi, I am sorry to hear you are getting sick again. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Phoenix, happy first year anniversary for closing on your house.
Have a wonderful evening and stay warm.
Marcy

Lorelei, congratulations for getting $1000 to spend on something sparkly. You certainly deserve it for all the wonderful contributions you offer to the other members of Pricescope. You are certainly a "gem" in my humble opinion.

Rod~

THIS is the triangle pose I was doing.

''Ho down. We have a Ho Down!!''
*SNERK*

Ah yes. Reverse triangle: fun for the whole family. Or not. I was doing this pose once in class a year or so ago and my back went out. I couldn''t get up off of the floor for the remainder of class. Seriously. Yoga injury. My friend had to drive me home in my own car and give me muscle relaxants. What am I, 85? It was traumatic.
38.gif

marcyc: Did the knee weight exercises help your knee? Were they to build muscle? I wouldn''t mind strengthening my knee so that it doesn''t hurt after I run.

OMG snerk??? ROFL!!!
9.gif
*must remember that saying*

crikey - that yogarish posing makes my back hurt to watch it!
32.gif

Thanks Marce!

ugh. i am coming down with the wwt cold. i''ve had a sniffly nose since yesterday morning and i am soooooo tired. to make it worse, i''m in chicago on a business trip and this big midwest snowstorm is seriously calling in to doubt whether i will make it back home today. keep your fingers crossed for me.

no working out or healthy eating to report - i''ve been having whatever they put in front of me, including cookies.
11.gif

hope everyone has a better day than me!

Fingers are crossed for you, shortblonde, that you feel better and make it home today.

I went to sleep at 9 last night, John woke me up at 5:45, thank goodness! We said our good mornings and as I headed off to the shower and he was falling back to sleep he said "I''m sorry you sound like a frog." I was cracking up.

Off to work, and perhaps we''ll go out to dinner tonight, somewhere casual.

Have a great Friday, everyone!

hola and happy Friday! I''ve been great on the calorie counting this week, but not so great about the gym. Very strange for me, since I usually go religiously. I''ve been in kind of a funk over some work stuff, and I know that getting back into my workout routine will help me feel better and think clearer. I''m headed there this afternoon in fact. Let''s hope next week will improve on both the work and gym fronts. Happy weekend all!

rod, shortblonde and kimberly, feel better soon!

julianna, you poor thing. Ok, I admit that I giggled at your story, but...in a loving way. I hope your back is ok now?! And what''s wrong with your knee? How old are you? 85? I have a library of knee exercises b/c I tore my ACL several years ago.

Lorelei, congrats on your PS prize! You deserve it and more. You''ve certainly done so much for this WWThread. I *heart* Lorelei!!

It''s the last day of restaurant week in NYC, and my coworkers and I are going to Nobu (or is it Nobu Next Door?) for lunch!

Lorelei, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto, Rod, Shortblonde and Kimberly, feel better soon!

Marcy, yay for you walk!!!

Hey Julianna!! Oh no to yoga injury
6.gif

Somethingshiny, what did you eat for dinner?

I will probably get in a walk today since it is warm or it is suppose to warm up. I am going to get my hair thinned out and cut today (I have horse hair) and I am tired of blow drying it or waiting 4 hrs for it to dry. Not sure what else, I might go to the farmers market for veggies; have a wonderful day all

29, I''ll have you know!!

My back is at least 94, though. I''ve always had lower back problems, I try to do Pilates when I can to strengthen my core, but even after a year of Pilates I had that yoga incident, so maybe I''m just out of luck.
37.gif
Sorry to hear about your ACL! That is terrible.

I''ve had my first yoga injury this morning. I was doing downward dog and somehow managed to bend my pinkie fingernail back about halfway. Sorry, but it really does hurt...especially typing.

Skippy and Marcy I ended up making the fettucine alfredo for lunch today. DH works second shift and I wanted to let him taste it while it was fresh. I used half and half instead of the milk and then omitted the cream cheese. It was really good but a little sticky. I think next time I will do the milk and cream cheese. I think it would be a lot smoother and a whole lot less fattening. But, I do suggest you to try it if you haven''t already. I think I''m going to try one of the recipes for banana muffins today. My recipe is basically fat and cholesterol, so hopefully, a new recipe will let me eat them a bit more often. Skippy, I wish I had a farmer''s market to go to. You think I would since I live amongst corn fields and orchards, but not so much. Enjoy your walk. Lovely plate of cookies, btw. And, Marcy, 20 minutes on the treadmill is NOT taking it easy!

Julianna Ouch to the REAL yoga injury. I snerked at your story, too. At least when I go over, I''m only in my living room. But, really, that must have been miserable!

Lorelei CONGRATULATIONS, can''t wait to see what you get!

SDL Way to go!!

Well wishes to those who are sick!

And, to those who are having lovely evenings out on the town, have fun!

Good day to you all!
