Rod, sorry to hear your interview was a wild goose chase. Yay for a great workout at the gym. That is great the company you talked to last week wants to set up a second interview with you.

Marcy,

Thank you so much for thinking of my grandson. He is doing better tonight. He wanted to color all day, so that is what we did.

Linda

Linda, I am glad to hear your grandson is doing better. Coloring sounds like a fun way to pass the day. Those little guys are worth spending time with.

they sure are Marcy and I like coloring with him too.

Oh my gosh Kimberly!! I''m such a dolt. I was so excited to read that you got matched with a supervisor. I wanted to congratulate you! That''s fantastic news. I''m so happy (and a little freaked out) that my special blend fairy dust worked so fast. Haha.

Rod, hmph. Sigh. ARRRRRRRRGH! I''m sorry the interview was a total waste of your time. I can''t imagine how frustrated you must have been. I hope working out helped a little.

FI is watching The Princess Bride for the first time. I love this movie and have seen it a million times. It''s just so goofy and funny.

Hi Fancy!

Marcy, I''m so glad you''re enjoying your treadmill. Keep it up! I was looking for raw almonds today in the market, but it was so expensive. I''ve really been craving almonds since you mentioned it. I think I have one single almond left in the cupboard.

Happy early Valentine''s day to everyone! FI and I are slightly anti-Valentine''s Day, but sometimes I can''t help wanting to celebrate. Tomorrow we''ll cook a fancy seafood dinner at home.

Piping in from this lurker (who has lost 3 kilos yay Me!) to wish you a wonderful amazing and romantic trip to Paris Skippy

May it be all you and your DH dreamt of.
And please have the camera ready to rock and roll

maisie, i wanted to specifically address the binging issue. first, take a deep breath and tell yourself that you are in charge and can control and change the situation if you so choose. most of it is just a mindset. a few things i have found useful:

- ask yourself if you''re truly hungry, or eating out of boredom/anger/frustration, etc. if you''re not hungry, leave the kitchen and find something else to do besides eat. i like to polish my nails, since the wet polish quite literally keeps my hands out of the food!
- if you''re actually hungry, portion out a serving onto a plate or bowl and eat from there. don''t eat out of the large bag or box. sometimes i even divide things up into individual servings when i first open the box so i''m not temped to take mindless handfuls. it also makes me more conscious of how much i''m eating since i have to open another baggie or get up and go back to the box.
- i keep a few things on hand that are low cal yet satisfy my urges, so that i can eat a few without feeling bad about it. some of my favorites are sugar-free jello, pickles, gum, and peppermint tea. i find that the mint flavor really fills up my mouth and makes me feel like i''ve had something substantial, plus it takes a while to drink.

rod, sorry to hear that your interview was a bust, hang in there!

i''m so glad i stopped by the new market tonight - they had some amazing sales! kashi and annie''s crackers for $1, organic eggs, bear naked granola, organic natural PB, and kashi go lean and puffins cereal for $2, etc. so i stocked up! i hope they continue to have these kinds of sales - it would be a bummer if they are just for the opening while they''re trying to draw people in.

Maise you poor thing
5.gif
. I''m sure you will get a lot of support here with your friends. The most important thing is to look at the triggers for binging. We can use food as an emotional release or to soothe but if we are satiated from eating regularly and from a wide range of foods the drive is less for the high fat high carb and sugar food.
I work a lot with eating disorders and I think it is important to make sure you are not hungry at the times your are likely to binge. This is a really good first step.
In your town is their a community health centre that you could talk to a counsellor and/or dietician?
Take care
Kate

Maisie, you can do it girl! Here is something that might help if you agree to it. Until the end of the month, can you check in here every weekday ( weekends if you are around) and just say how you are doing? My reasoning is this. As the others have said, change takes time, so if you check in here daily and make yourself accountable for doing so, then even if the eating isn't going well, it is a start towards getting yourself on track with like minded souls! If this suggestion doesn't appeal, then don't worry, but I thought it might help. But keep your goal in sight, such as those shorts on holiday!! You can totally do this in 8 months! If it makes you feel any better, I used to binge a lot as I used to feel so deprived, I have managed to overcome it mainly by feeding my body properly these days, but I do now how you feel, as do many of us.

Here is what happened with me - I reached a crossroads 3 years ago. I was going out for dinner and felt terrible as my clothes didn't fit properly. I decided I had finally had enough. I was going to stop the see saw ( teeter totter) dieting, and give myself the time to lose the weight. I was going to exercise and eat carefully, not be hungry, but still have the odd treat. I sure had enough of the alternative! 3 years on, I am happier and healthier than I have ever been, and I have quit smoking! You can do it girl!

Hi all! Rod hang in there, I still feel great things are just around the corner for you!!

Hiya Fancy!!
35.gif

I think that overnight I got run over by a steamroller... I feel terribly sick today, even worse that yesterday if that is possible! So no gym for me... but I also have no apetite so maybe it won''t really matter
2.gif
!

Keep on truckin'' the rest of you, and Rod hang in there your''ll get your dream job soon. I read somewhere the average amount of time to find employment in one''s field is 6 months... don''t know how long you''ve been looking so far, but it can be a long haul!

Thanks for the words of support. It is great to know that you have been in the same boat as me, but are now doing a lot better.

Lorelei I will definitely check in every day. I am round most days anyway ogling the gorgeous diamonds!

I am about to cook dinner for the family. We are having a chicken stir fry - no rice for me as it really makes my tummy swell! I have eaten soup for lunch (with white bread but I will be changing to wholemeal when I get to the supermarket) and I had cereal for breakfast. Need to make some changes to the milk I have too and also the cereal I eat. I don''t suppose sugar puffs are really that healthy!!

My daughter was eating some chocolate earlier. I had a little bit and I don''t feel like I am craving at the minute. I hope it doesn''t hit me later. If it does, I will divert my attention to something else. Maybe a nice relaxing bath.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! I had a great workout yesterday - 15 minutes on the stairmaster and 45 minutes on the elliptical. I did end up indulging a little - my sister wanted to take me out for Indian as a belated bday celebration. I was pretty good though, just had a veggie samosa and part of my entree and took the rest home (chicken dansak). Hopefully we will be having kickboxing tonight at the gym and it won't be cancelled due to V-Day. DBF is still sick with a bug so we won't be doing anything until he feels better. The weather is better today - the sun is actually out and it's not freezing cold.

Kimberly - Yeah for student teaching - congratulations!
ladypirate - Sorry the job didn't work out, but I think you're doing the right thing by waiting for the right opportunity to come along (and it will!).
Mara - Glad you are feeling better!
appletini - Good job with the elliptical - and good luck with the personal trainer! Have fun!
shortblonde - Way to go with taking a break from sweets - it's not always easy to do! And have fun kayaking!
dreamer_dachsie - Hope you feel better soon.
Maisie - Aw, try not to get so down on yourself. I know a lot of us have been at a similar point at some time in our lives (I know I have). Little steps make all the difference. Start off with small changes as DD suggested and you'll be on your way in no time. Good luck and please stick around here - it's such a great support system and I always find such good advice here! And regarding vacation, you can do it! Eight months is a lot of time to make changes!
steph - Mmm your flourless chocolate cake and chocolate dipped strawberries sound SO good!!
CJ - Hoorah for a great workout!!! Way to go!
Fancy - Welcome! Sounds like you are well on your way with all of those little changes - keep up the good work!
marcy - Yeah, waffles w/fruit & CW are pretty good, but not too bad w/o the CW. Keep up the good work and no worries on the weigh in. I find a fluctuation of a lb or so here and there when I eat things that are saltier than normal.
somethingshiny - Congrats on the new nephew - how exciting!!
Rod - So sorry to hear about the interview being a bust. On a positive note, it was good for getting your frustrations out at the gym! I often find myself doing that on a bad day, so turn a bad thing into something good. Good luck in the search - the right job is out there for you. It once took me about a year to find a position after getting laid off (badk in the mid 90s - not a great market at the time), so keep the faith. It will happen.

Hello to anyone I may have missed
35.gif
Have a great day everyone!!

Linda - glad to hear your grandson is doing better!

Hi Everyone,

PW, thank you, he is better today, but still staying home from school.

Maisie: I was also a binge eater a few years ago. I used to eat when I was happy, or down in the dumps. I finally got tired of the way my clothes fit. I know how hard it is. The people here are wonderful and will help you so much.

I joined Jenny Craig, and although their food is expensive, it helped me lose the weight and helped me with binge eating. My counselor let me substitute my food for some of theirs, to keep the cost down too.

I know San Diego Lady is doing Weight Watchers and is doing quite well on it.

We just have to put our minds to it.

I know you can do it and we will help you all of the way sweetie.

Love, Linda

Dreamer,

I hope you aren''t coming down with the flu. It is running rampant where I live. Hope you feel better soon.

Linda

Well done Maisie! I think checking in here daily, even if you feel like pants, will help you feel better and that you are definitely not alone! With time, things will get better, I know as it happened to me! I have a suggestion regarding the chocolate or sweet food bingeing. I used to find that, once I started eating chocolate, I would crave more and go to town eating it, then feel so annoyed with myself. Reading about it, it seems this is common, and sometimes cutting out these things altogether for a while can help to break the cycle. It really seemed to help me. If you think this is too much too soon, then no worries, but I just wondered if it might be worth a try, or later on perhaps if it continues.

Just a quick check-in to say Happy Valentine''s Day everyone! I have eaten well so far today...oatmeal for breakfast, fiber 1 bar for snack, turkey sandwich for lunch, and I''m making my healthy lasanga for dinner with chocolate covered strawberries. I decided to nix the flourless chocloate cake when I looked it up on the food network and saw the prep time was 8 hours
6.gif
. I am all about easy, so decided to just do the strawberries. I am going to take Andrew up to the park today (2 miles roundtrip) for my workout today. I can''t wait to get back on a regular workout schedule, but things are too crazy with the move right now. Hope everyone has a great day and evening! I am off to make my chocolate covered strawberries!

Welcome, Maisie! As you have heard from everyone here, it really takes a while to change your thinking and habits. I used to be just like you, binge and then hate myself for having no control, but realized that kind of thinking was not healthy and not helping. Hope you stick around here for lots of support!

Happy Valentines Day to all my WWT Friends!

It's absolutely beautiful here in sunny Tampa. It got cold last night and today it's brilliant outside with temps in the upper 60's, absolutely no humidity and not a cloud in the sky. I don't have much to report since checking in last night. I met Charlie for lunch, then had the awful task of stopping by the vet's office to pick up Koh's remains. The cremation service they use, takes a footprint before cremation and made a heart out of clay with Koh's footprint on it. I must admit I broke down a bit when I saw it. We have the remains of all our kitties and someday, all our ashes will be spread together.

I went from the vet's office and sat at Sbucks under the oak and had a couple cups of coffee. I couldn't really handle coming home immediately after picking up Koh's ashes. I have a phone screen with a company this afternoon, but as I mentioned earlier, they don't really have a position, so this is just exploratory. Right after the call, I'm heading to the gym and will have a good long workout. At least I get to go earlier these days and that's a good thing. I imagine the gym will be pretty dead this evening as most people are probably doing something for Vday. We used to go out to dinner on Vday, but found the food rediculously expensive, the menu's limited and just not worth it. So, the gym it will be.

Maise, it sounds like you're off to a good start!

Thanks everyone for the interview sympathy. It just goes with the job searching territory these days.

I need to prepare for my phone screen, so will end for the moment. I'll check in later. If you are having a non-Bah Humbug Vday, I hope you are looking forward to a lovely romantic evening with your special someone!

I had my personal training session today and it was really tough, but I did do better than I thought. Although I know I''ll be really sore the next few days.

Happy Valentine''s Day to all!

Dreamer,

Thanks Linda and this is totally random but where can I see pictures of your Padparadsha ring??? I can''t find them anywhere boo hoo!
39.gif

Rod: I am so sorry you had to go through that. That is the hardest thing to go through. We have our 3 Lhasa''s ash''s also, and they also will be spread with us, along with our current Lhasa Mazie when it is her time.
What a wonderful thing for the cremation service to do. I wish our service would do that, I would love to have had our doggies foot prints.

Dreamer: I am so bad, I don''t have any pictures of my Pad rings. Just one of my Pad''s that is my avatar. Harleigh and I are getting together soon, I will ask her to take pictures for me. I will bring my Pads with me.

Linda

Happy V-Day all!

Nothing fabulous to report; just doing a quick drive by to say hello. The HH made me the infamous pumpkin muffins in heart shaped tins as a surprise AND he remember the fat free cream cheese to go with them. Gotta love that man!

Heading off to a showing... Obviously no rest for the wicked, not even on Valentine's Day LOL...

evening WWT''ers and HAPPY VDAY!!!

unfortunately this flu is kicking my a$$ and i am home again for the 4th day..and probably home tomorrow too just making sure i''m kicking it. apparently in talking to people, it can take a week to get rid of and the fever just comes and goes, it''s crazy times. i am sleeping 4 hours then up for an hour and sleeping again. nights are hardest...don''t know why but it''s hard for me to get the full 8 hours when i am sleeping so much all day long. but i need to sleep more.

plus i wasn''t really eating enough, i just wasn''t interested in food, and last nite i almost felt nauseous eating our dinner. but i feel a bit more normal stomach wise today.

however, we cancelled our vday ressies which made me really sad because we love this place and they had some amazing bread pudding on their prix fixe and since today was my ''dessert ok'' day i was going to indulge, but oh well. i got us choco covered strawberries yesterday (2) and greg is picking us up lobstah rolls so we''ll huddle on the couch together with portia and watch reality crap tv!

at least the wkd is long so i will have a lot of time to recuperate. working out though, not sure, a few people i talked to said it took them at least 2-3 weeks to be back in the swing of things, this flu really makes you quite weak. so i am sure i have lost some weight...probably muscle sadly...oh well. as PG already determined with her illness that won''t go away...we have forever to work out...no need to stress about just one or two weeks of forced rest.

because i can''t sit up for very long i am not really reading too much but i did see rod that you had a ridiculous interview, so sorry about that runaroud!! hang in there, you''ll find the right fit.

everyone else, hope you are doing fab...happy vday and enjoy your evenings. for those of you who aren''t already, keep up with your vitamins and airborne, this flu is NASTY and it''s apparently making the rounds!! yikes.

Rod I am so sorry about the loss of your pet! I know how bonded we can get to our furry little friend, mine are like my children. But that is really special that you have a paw print as a momento, every little extra memory must help.

DD

Mara:

Please just REST and take it easy. Don''t push yourself into exercising. You have plenty of time to do that when you are well.

I have had that nasty flu twice. Each time, it took me a month to get back on my feet. It is all over the place.

My little 6 year old grandson has it now.

Take it easy OK????????

Evening All........

The phone interview went far better than I anticipated this afternoon. Turns out they may actually have an ideal opportunity coming up soon that I would be a terrific fit for. It all hinges on them being awarded a major contract, which could take few weeks to see. If they do, I'd be their national account director for the account and travel all over the US to meet with the client and make sure we're providing the highest levels of service. The comp plan was far better than I would have expected, so now I'm just hoping they get the contract and I get the job. At least it was really positive and the person I spoke with would be my boss and we had a lot in common professionally. So, if ever there was a time for some PS Fairy Dust, please send as much as you can.

Immediately following the phone screen, I headed to the gym and met Charlie. We worked out together, which was fun. I was really surprised that the gym was just as crowded as any Thursday night, so my belief that Vday would thin the crowd certainly wasn't the case. It was the usual diehard 'uber' gym guys, so Vday was not going to stand in the way of their workout. We really didn't have any dinner plans, and I thought how on earth could we eat a Lean Cuisine on Vday, so after our workout, I stopped at the grocery store and bought live Maine Lobsters, some veggies, a bottle of wine and a piece of chocolate tort cake. I steamed the lobsters which turned out just fantastic, Charlie steamed the veggies and we drank some wine and had a great dinner for sure. The chocolate tort cake was surprisingly good for a piece of grocery store cake. All in all, it was a terrific meal and one that was probably nicer than what we would have had at most restaurants at a fraction of the cost. Being unemployed, we do have think about how much we spend these days..........

Mara, I'm sorry you're still fighting the flu. The flu can last anywhere from 1 - 2 weeks, so you need to get as much rest as you can. And on working out, it's a no-no if you have a fever. As long as you aren't weak and don't have a fever, you can work out lightly until you regain your strength. I hope you just take it easy for a while and let Greg pamper you.

Hey DeeJay and Jas, I thought the two of you had abandoned us. Happy Vday to you both. I hope your pregnancy is going well Jas.

Thanks Linda. It was hard to pick up Koh's ashes. It was really hard for Charlie to come home to them. He put Koh with our other precious kitties urns. The foot print was a really nice touch too.

Yay for being sore after your PT session Appletini. That means your trainer gave you your money's worth!!

I guess that's about it for the day. Remember, please send heaping truck loads of PS Fairy Dust. Rod would love to be gainfully employed and this job would be pretty terrific. There are two other postions with two other companie's I'm being considered for, so perhaps the job search will have a successful conclusion sooner than later.

Again, Happy Valentines day to all my special WWT Ladies!

Rod

Rod:

That is fantastic news. I am sending a sky full of airplanes to drop tons of fairy dust on you!!!!!!

Love, Sis Linda

Rod,
That''s very exciting. Sending truck loads of PS fairy dust your way!!! Best of luck!!! Lisa
