can anyone recommend a nice flat long brush to use along with a steam cleaner?

i've been using the steaming nozzle on my nespresso machine to clean my ring, however, due to the gallery design, i still see small specks of dust trapped underneath my diamond.

i feel like if i could get a brush (with a ~1/2 inch long bristle), i can clean it more thoroughly.

YES! These are great! http://amzn.to/1dagdgL

I have always been curious about a steam cleaner. Do you mind sharing how it works? Is it easy to use? I use an ultrasonic for my non-pave jewelry but nothing can beat a jewelry store cleaning! I would love a better home solution.

Thanks!

Coming soon, to an Amazon.com near you...

A new Ultrasonic and steamer combined that is small enough to fit on your kitchen counter. I am traveling back from the show today, but when I get home I will upload the picture if there is any interest. Supposed to be ready to market by October. You put your jewelry in the basket, raise the cover up and in a short time the jewelry is ultrasoniced, then steamed. It is sleek and stylish and oh, did I mention that it is small?

Oh Wink, I think you just made my year!!

With a response like that, how can I not make the time to upload a photo?

Here it is. This unit will, supposedly, do it all. Ultrasonic cleaning and steaming and fits neatly into a space smaller than most coffee makers on your kitchen counter. I do not know the details, but it sure looks interesting. This is not a working prototype, but if it lives up to the promises, I think it will be a must have appliance for many of the PriceScope faithful.

So, what do you think?

If it works as nicely as it looks, I'd love it! Who's making it?

No, they are still in final process of actually making working models, and could not give me a fixed price.

I had an extra bare minerals soft concealer brush, so I use that for cleaning my rings and studs. It's very soft (gentle enough for use under eyes), so it doesn't scratch at all, but has enough rigidity yet flexibility to get into tiny nooks and crannies really well and work loose any dirt that might get trapped, which can't be much since I clean my rings a few times a day for max sparklez. :D

Here is a link to one very similar that I think would probably work well for your setting: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2280101

Here is a little video that will show the basics. It is the original model (burgundy color) which appears to be the one in some of the listings that have been posted in this thread and which works really well. If you can get one for under $100 bux that is a great deal.

I am a huge advocate of regular and effective home cleaning. ESPECIALLY if you have paid a premium for a top cut which many people on this board have.

Pre-soaking is an important step prior to steaming, particularly if the item has not been cleaned recently. If you are afraid of loosening of accent diamonds from ultrasonic, there are inexpensive vibrasonics on the market that make for an excellent soaking step without the high power. You can find some here:
https://www.blitzinc.com/shop/jewelry-cleaning-machines/

Thanks Texas Leaguer! I checked out the link and they all seem to be called ultrasonics vs. vibrasonics. Am I missing something? I just want to make sure I get the right products that are safe for pave and really appreciate your insights!!
Notice this one is called a "sonic" cleaner as opposed to an ultrasonic. https://www.blitzinc.com/products/blitz-ultra-ii-jewelry-cleaning-machine/
Generally the low cost ones like this ($20) are the low power vibrasonic models. Not so powerful to cause big concerns for melle but great for the soaking phase. If diamonds come out in this cleaner, they were probably about to come out during wear. And at least you don't lose the diamonds!
Thank you TexasLeaguer for differentiating the sonic cleaners from the ultrasonic ones. I ended up purchasing this cheaper Medelco sonic cleaner and it has worked great! I followed the suggestions and microwave half a mug of water for about 30 seconds, pour it in, squirt in a little dish washing detergent and spray in some windex. I drop the jewelery in, let it run for a few, lift the grate out, carefully dump out the water, add clean water, run the cleaner again as a rinse cycle, and my jewelry sparkles like mad! I use water that has been Brita filtered then boiled in a kettle - our at home drinking water lolol.

This is the model I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AMG0ZM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
