<hands in the air doing a happy dance>

Just got scheduled for a colonoscopy and endoscopy - yaaaaaaay!

I don't believe this will reveal the issue, as my feeling is that it's in my small intestine, which means I'll need an upper GI series and/or a capsule study. But I have to have the colonoscopy and endoscopy first, before I can get approved for the next steps. After speaking to my GI today, she told me this process will take around 3 more weeks till I get a diagnosis. After that, she said I'll be able to look back at this time of my life and say "Wow - that was the worst time of my life - but it's over now." Hopefully she means the 'worst time' - not the 'my life' part.

I'm just so relieved to see some forward momentum. I can do three weeks. I can do that.

Gratefulgratefulgrateful.

Glad you're making progress on getting the tests you need! Sending prayers your way. And yes, she better have meant the "worst time" being over, not the life part! :naughty:

This does not sound like heaven to me, mrs-b, but I am grateful that you are grateful. I am also grateful that you are progressing. I have had three colonoscopies, but no endoscopy of the upper part. My husband gets both every three years. We have sent the GI specialists' children to college. I wish you the best of luck with your procedures. Have you had them before? We had a long thread here about redwood's procedure a bit back.

Hi @AGBF -

Yes, I have Crohn's and am also a potential carrier of Lynch Syndrome, meaning I have both a colonoscopy and an endoscopy every 2 years. Can't say I like the procedures, but there's no way I'll get a diagnosis without them, so I'm thrilled to finally be off the 'here's drugs and fluids - now go home and hope for the best' path. The inconvenience of these procedures is nothing - *nothing* - compared to the pain of what I've been going through over the last few months.

Hi @mrs-b glad you felt well enough to check in! Yes, try to keep that positive mental attitude if at all possible. Being a nurse and going through the health issues I have, I have developed a rather 'dark' sense of humour! :Up_to_something: Like straight after I woke up from my brain surgery (and yes I was spaced out on the meds) my surgeon came to check on me!

Surgeon: How are you feeling?
Me: OK considering. Was the operation a success?
Surgeon: Yes, everything was straightforward with no surprises.
Me: Well one surprise. Yay you found a female brain!
Cue everyone in hysterics!

Are they still looking at an adrenal gland issue mrs-b?

If I read this before (about your Crohn's Disease), it didn't register. I am sorry to make you repeat yourself, mrs-b. You have, truly, been through everything from a GI point of view. If you are content to wait (I know you have no choice), God bless you. I will just continue to hold you in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us help you to hang in there. Maybe you can think of some weird requests for us. ;))

I am happy that you will finally have the tests that will move you forward to a diagnosis and treatment, whatever that may entail. At least you will then have answers. I found that was very difficult during my recent health issue, the not knowing. It took me some time to find the answer and after I did, I could concentrate my energy on learning, fighting and healing.
((hugs)) and well wishes continue, @mrs-b

PS I haven't taken the Pansy off since I heard of your struggles.

I sent this gif to my students this week and thought it was appropriate for you too!!
