Show me your turquoise jewelry!

i would makes these work, =)2
the shipping is practically the same $$$$ as the beads :(2
so it might have to wait a few days and i need to work out how many i want

i know i was cheeky trying to find a bargain, but also i thought i could trust American sellers- thats possibly a little unfair considering how big your population is and i really thought their shop conditions were not very friendly - i guess that was a warning:wall:

. i did look really hard on that listing for howlite but i must have missed it :wall:= if its there they sure hide it well -thank you so much for setting me straight :wavey:
i dont need anymore xmas / cat grave decorations !

the trouble is the turquoise colour just looks the best with the jet (how i wish i had never brought it -not realizing that the chunky fascated jet would not look good with the round jet beads - i was planning on just extending it into a longer black necklace )

sorry to derail the lovely turquoise thread with my whitby jet woes ! (Yet again :wall: )
the most frustrating thing is it doesnt matter how often i write or read it i cannot spell turquoise

i am releaved i waited for your reply, rather than rush ahead like my usual idiot self
thank you my turquoise princess

You spelled turquoise right!

Just keep looking.....the right thing will show itself to you.
Have you considered looking at already made turquoise necklaces or bracelets that you can take apart and use for your jet project?
There must be whole used vintagey necklaces out there for low prices that you can repurpose. Just a thought.....

good thinking :kiss2:
that will fill in a few hours
but the necklace must be damaged or ugly otherwise ill want to wear it, it wont fit, ill need more beads and here we go again :lol-2:

i googled tourquoise - :lol-2:

@stracci2000 i found this
its long enough that there would be enough left to still wear
just i think about the ppersons who butchered the cherry amber bakealit and the whitby jet and i hate what they did to beautiful long necklaces
from the pictures i should get enough really nice beads out of it

This one is dyed block turquoise.....avoid !
See the strange golden brown veining, it looks very artificial.

This one is dyed howlite.
When you see those weird evenly spaced black lines running through, that's a red flag

thank you
this time i knew it was way too cheap but did not know why
how do they get away with calling it tourquise
i get the mushed up tourquise dust/left over bits being reconstitued -a bit like Spam still being pork but this the isnt even tourquise:x2

i think if i lived next door to you, you would be sick of me now and you might pretend you were out when i knock :lol-2:
but your help is much appreahated

how much fake turquoise is there out there :wall::wall::wall::wall:
i seem determinded to find it all :lol-2:
all this howlite seems as bad as all the dyed quartz that is masquerading out there as countless other stones

this is bordering on cultural appropriation

at least they achknowlede that its howlite
i think this would be a legal requirement in NZ
this is revolting i should post it on the whyyyyyy thread

Daisys and Diamonds, maybe you google/search on etsy: block turquoise, howlite turquoise, magnesite turquoise to train your eyes and get familiar with the look of fakes.

The most convincing fake I found was Magnesite "turquoise" with brown matrix, only the dye job gives it away. Still, looks a lot like some Chinese turquoise.

Other cheap stuff, but made with real turquoise are composites:
Mojave turquoise is pressed turquoise chips with different materials (shell, copper, other stones), it's sold in a block and people cut cabs out of it. Sometimes goes by the name Cochise turquoise. This is still turquoise but considered lower quality.

This is all good information.
Gosh, I really hate that "Mojave turquoise" junk.
So weird and fake.

I just bought this turquoise and sterling choker from the pawn shop.
It's either Navajo or Zuni made, not sure yet.
I love it because it's so different from anything I have in my collection. It's surprisingly comfortable to wear.

WOW, this looks like SB Turquoise, another score!

Yes, I think it probably is Sleeping Beauty, although there's no way to say for sure.

It's so pretty and different! Delicate, yet a statement piece at the same time.

P.S. Is that a reeeally young Glenn Ford? Wow!

Yes, that's the great Glenn Ford!
He's one of my favorites. He was a total babe back in the 40s.
Is it weird that I crush on all the old-timey movie stars?

You know who was incredibly hot and also in that western genre? Dale Robertson... oh my goodness. It takes a lot to make me notice, but I pretty much watch The Tales of Wells Fargo 24/7. Can he be your next profile pic?

Stoppppp it...

It's a perfect fit on you, Stracci! Gorgeous!

I've been staying with my Mom for the last month, helping her rehab after a nasty fall, and she watches Grit TV nearly all the time TOWF and Gunsmoke are her favorites.

I picked up this pendant recently. The silver needs a good polish, but I thought the shape was interesting. Has a bit of a Scandinavian/MCM vibe.

Oh, that's beautiful! It's big! I love a big stone. Any marks?

No swan, maybe a chicken or pigeon!
It's amazing that it fits.....

Yes, the color is really nice. It was a lucky find!

My compisit stones arrived for the belt
The best that nay end up a wall hanging
It's OK for a belt. or other crafty project 20250614_132342.jpg20250614_132416.jpg

In my opinion, it's bright and blue and perfect for a belt! I always wanted one of those really fancy concha belts, but they're so expensive. I just end up spending my $ on something else.

This pin/pendant with fold-down bail just arrived. It's gold (unmarked, but I believe it's 14K or 15K) with little pearls and round turquoise cabochons, probably from the 1890s. There's a little painted portrait in it behind glass, which I hid with a yellow circle for privacy. I bought this piece for the portrait, but I thought you folks would enjoy seeing the setting.
