MTG, I think opposed bar cuts are so cool! Can I ask where you got yours?

I actually bought mine second hand from a private seller. But Doug at Bespoke Gems, Gene at Precision gems, and John at Gemrite have cut many of these in the past as well.

Distinction,

Nice photos. I wish mine were able to capture the green like that.

Here are three Columbian emerald rings of varying tones and saturations. The one on the right is very saturated color and indicative of Muzo material and set in platinum/18K with diamonds, but my photograph is awful. It looks a billion times better in person, and is cleaner than the photo suggests. The one on the left, while larger, is no where near as saturated, and is light in tone. The one in the middle is between these two in saturation and tone, and it is not as clean as the one on the right. I have had them all for over ten years.

They range from 2.5 to around 2 carats.
I''ll vouch for her that her Emerald''s are pretty, saw one in real life. ;-)

Oh, I love this green garnet, Vapid - more info please!

Oh thank you cellentani. It is a 1.8carat tsav has some light inclusions as you can see in the photos but they are not visible unaided. To me they have the look of emerald jardins so I dont mind them at all. the color is actually a little deeper and greener than the photos. I''m waiting to set it until I get better metal smithing skills.

My e-ring & box are finally complete;

Love that tsavorite, Lauren!

I''ve been lax at keeping up with my own thread, but since my last post, I''ve bought a few more greenies...

3mm green zoisite, set in a pendant with opal and tanzanite:

"Seafoam" green tourmaline, which IRL looks darker and more green than the photo, so it''s not really seafoam:

And finally, a new Merelani mint garnet from Gemrite (not eye-clean, which makes me nervous, but the inclusions aren''t as prominent IRL:

Here''s my light green Oyo tourm from Dan stair.

Thank you. I designed the box with the help of a local woodworking shop called Raskl. They specialise in hardwood work, such as furniture and bespoke pieces etc. I drew up the rough plans and they made it. It is made from Imbuia stained with danish oil, with the Green leaf design ontop being made from a mix of resin and green paint, then the silver inlay is made from silver solder, melted to flood the wooden channel. The hinge is a really neat recessed wood hinge that allows the box to fully open. The box is held together with hidden magnets (you can see where they are from the small wooden circles.) One think you don''t get from the photos is the 3D like shimmer of the wood. It is a very similar effect to a tigereye stone.

@ MessiahKhan: I know you have heard this before, but you did a great job designing that ring! The amount of thought and care that went into every step truly amazes me. And the fact that you chose a unique stone like demantoid as the center stone deserves extra props

. She will absolutely love it! Haha, whenever my husband complains about my jewelry buying habits, I counter by telling him about how you designed that e-ring all by yourself

!

Great posts everyone! I hope to be posting my own soon. In the meantime, I''ll see if I can get some good pics of my chrome diopside rings and tsavorite earrings.

Jstar,
Do you have one of your own photos of the AJS "seafoam" tourmaline. I would be interested in seeing it since they seem to have some nice blue/green tourmalines, and I wanted to see how they compare to the photo. Thanks!!

Hi TL! I actually haven''t take any but can try to get some soon. Been really busy packing up for a move to California this month. I''ll see what I can do.

Slightly unusually for a bloke, I really like Jewellery, and actually want to learn how to do silversmithing, so designing and commissioning the ring and box were a bit of a labour of love. The hard part for me is keeping it all secret from my better half. We are very close so share everything, and keeping all of this from her has been really hard. Less than a week to keep it to myself now though.

Hayjoe, Good to see you here, That is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I love greens, what are you going to do with it?

I'll ask Jeff at John Franklin's to build a ring for my wife. I think it's going to end up in a setting like this one but bezel set. What do you think? I am open to ideas.

I love that ring and have it saved in my favorites! I think it would look great with your stone. For me personally I would do the ring in two tone YG/WG or mix one of those with details in green gold- I think the contrast would be breath taking.

I have no idea how I missed this thread! I absolutely love green gemstones. :cheeky:

PS 2.0 killed all of my pics. Reposting.

Hayjoe, I like the setting and I really like your idea to bezel it, the ring looks like it was meant to be a bezel. Look forward to seeing the finished project.

LTP, as usual your collection is amazing.
