Setting ideas for a 2.03 carat OEC, please.

I am going to take my time figuring out settings and make sure I find the setting that makes my heart sing and is the perfect setting for the stone!! I would like something vintage looking or classic. I would appreciate any inspiration pictures, thank you!!!

I posted links to Some rings I am loving Oh and I would love to be able to put it with a band too! I never wear a band w/my current ering because none work with it.

I love Kelpie's ring!! It is vintagely gorgeous (is that a word?) while still not being fussy. There's another ring that was an old tiffany that was refurbed into a bezel instead of prong. I wish I could remember who owned it! This was quite a few years ago.

Skippy: Great minds think alike! I am the lucky owner of Burk's 2.1ct OEC and am seriously considering the second Single Stone setting you posted, so we may be twinsies. I am definitely looking for a vintage setting also and went to a bunch of stores in San Francisco last weekend to see how they looked on and decided bezel is for me ! Are you thinking of going to SS to try rings on?? I am a little afraid of ordering the setting and end up not loving it 100%, so I am considering flying down to LA for a day to look at all the options in person before deciding!

HI Mrs. M!!! Your stone is beautiful! What are the stats on it? I think our stones are almost twinsies! hehee Oh I would love to see more pics of the second one and pic on someones hand. I wonder if the do those sorts of requests?? Or if they send settings to your house? I think Pearlmans does? Hey did you go to Lang's for inspiration? I visited Lang's a couple of times and was in love with everything there

Oh do you have pics of rings on your hand?? Personally I love seeing pics of rings but I think it makes a huge difference having them on!

Do you have more pics of the ring you took a pic of?? that is gorgeous!!!

But I had a conversation with Coati about OEC's and she told me that since most OEC's have very thin girdles, she thinks they should be bezeled (and I think many halos provide protection as well). Otherwise, you'd be at risk of chipping the stone. I don't know if you have had your stone appraised or graded, but I'd be very cautious with the girdle.

Good Point! Wouldn't a polish (not necessarily a full re-cut) help with that? Similar to what Kelpie did with her diamond?

I actually went to Single Stone today and fell in love with the first setting Skippy posted and the first setting Sparkly posted and came home to see this thread! The first time I saw it was in the store; I did not know another PSer had the leaf setting too! It is absolutely stunning. If it helps either of you, I will attach pics I took of two rings I was considering. Sorry they are not very good quality as I took them with my iPhone. The pics of the second ring are quite blurry and makes the diamond look bad, but believe me, both were complete stunners!! Additionally, Ari was a pleasure to work with. I absolutely loved everything in the store and felt prices were pretty reasonable as well.

The first pic is of the leaf setting with a gorgeous 2.83 L/M VS OEC. The color on this diamond was amazing and the colors it threw off were like fire. This was absolutely my favorite! Also, if this helps Skippy any, I tried on a setting similar to the second link you posted. I am not a huge fan of the bezel setting. Ari commented it was not as feminine, and I agreed. But those who love bezel settings will love it, I'm sure! But personally, I would definitely go with number one!!

Diamondseeker has a good point. DS, Dave Atlas appraised it and it has a GIA Cert! The appraisal matches the cert. Dave is the old stone expert which is why I went with him. He did say to protect the stone. Like a bead setting. I am not a fan of bead settings and you are right a bezel would protect it but I am nervous that someone needs to be super careful if they set it in a bezel setting or unset it. thanks, I am not a halo fan but maybe a the thinnest halo ever? lol I don't know. I do think they are gorgeous on other people. I am not loving bezels either so this is tough!!! Maybe I should of thought through what type of setting before buying the stone? I do love it though!!!
Oh and this would be an extra diamond ring; I still have my 1.5 WF RB. so I know it would be taken care of really well and I will not wear it is often!!! thank you for your thoughts, I appreciate them and you bring up some good points.

SParklyOEC, I like your energy, it is contagious!!! Oh if there are nicks or scratches you do not want to polish them out. A few appraisers on here said that. Let me see if I can find the links.

I LOVE that one on you KOHLM, you NEED that ring! Are you still deciding? thank you so much for sharing pics!!! I think also part of the reason I love it so much is because my moms ring has the leaf motif too, not the same but it really tugs at my heart. oh & that is why I am having a hard time being sold on a bezel setting because it is't as feminine like you say but they are gorgeous
