My stone was too small to carry off this setting that Circe has suggested to me, so I thought I'd pass it along.

SParklyOEC, I like your energy, it is contagious!!! :D Oh if there are nicks or scratches you do not want to polish them out. A few appraisers on here said that. Let me see if I can find the links.

::) Awww...thank you. I didn't know that. Good information to know. Thanks, Skippy!

I love your mom's ring...so pretty and feminine (which I  )

Look up Wallermama's OEC thread! Hers is super gorge too. But I might be sweet on that bezel you have your eye on. Hmmmmmm.
Deco, which bezel? I linked a couple. hehee I want to know because I love your ring!!!
Thanks Skippy! I think the first one you linked is my fave. Never seen it before & just love the elegant swoop up to the center bezel -- the interesting cut-out, divine miligrain etc. There's something about *less* bling that seems so fresh to me. LESS pave etc. Fewer sidestones. More emphasis on the center stone. Especially one as lovely and kaliedescopic as yours!

I like that first SS bezel too..I just really like bezels and semi bezels a lot, especially on old cut stones.

I know its nothing like the inspiration rings you posted but I love this setting from JBEG.

Skippy,

Here is the profile of the ring I posted about earlier. Unfortunately, I have no hand-shots. I did go to Langs and loved all their stuff also, but they did not have many bezel settings when I went.

I contacted Single Stone last week to get additional photos of a couple rings. I did not ask if they would ship out settings to test out though, so let me know what they say. After receiving the first photos, I asked for several additional photos of profile of rings from their website, but they said they don't send out so many pics and encouraged me to go visit the store, so that is probably what I am going to end up doing although I have NO idea when yet

So glad you started your thread as I was planning on starting a similar one for my stone which is 2.1 ct, 8.1mm, M color, Si2 due to some minor chips on the girdle! There are too many beautiful vintage setting options to choose from...don't know how I will ever decided.

Can't see what you end up with!!

For what it's worth, I have always LOVED Ericad's ring- it's just so beautiful!!! I especially love it paired with the milgrain bezel band. Can't wait to see what you choose Miss Skippy!!! :appl: :appl:

This is a pic of a ring at my local estate jeweler. It's from the 1920's. VC and others have done similar rings though...

Thank you, Skippy and Mrs. Salvo!

Would you consider a 3-stone? I know the center stones aren't round, but just love these:

I love 3 stones and this 5 ring made my heart swoon.

And this one...  !

I have this ring saved to my iPad and had no idea where I got the photo- its sooo lovely and unique! Gypsy is this a PSers ring? I'd love to see more pics or where it's from.

Skippy congrats on your GORGEOUS boys and awesome stone! All of these settings would look amazing with your stone! Hard choice!

Skippy, I adore all these rings! But I had a conversation with Coati about OEC's and she told me that since most OEC's have very thin girdles, she thinks they should be bezeled (and I think many halos provide protection as well). Otherwise, you'd be at risk of chipping the stone. I don't know if you have had your stone appraised or graded, but I'd be very cautious with the girdle.

DS-just to clarify. I indicated my personal preference for bezels, but I don't think OECs should be bezeled in general. It's up to the wearer's personal taste. I used to sell old cuts in jewelry, and most were not bezeled! (thin girdles and all) Stones and settings should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

All diamonds run the risk of being chipped regardless of how they are set. There are many non-bezel styles that offer good protection.

Bottom line for Skippy...choose the style that makes your heart sing! Many great examples in this thread!

I *think* this is a vintage setting.. I could be wrong. In either case, it was the only one of it's kind for sale at an online estate jeweler (can't recall store).. I really like this one too. :)

Last one for now.. this one is a vintage setting with something like a 5 carat or so? OEC.. from Lang Antiques.. Love the bezel-like prongs...

Something like this could be great as well-an under halo of sorts, which acts as a tuffet for the oec. Subtle from the face-up, but with a detailed, pierced profile.

Best pic I have of the profile-but at least you can see some detail of the "tuffet"

I love the JbEG Julia bezel and the Gabbie halo.

MRS. M, is that setting you posted from Singlestone? Or where is it from? That is beautiful, do you have more images of it? I just talked to SS and you have to buy the setting but then you can return it but you need to pay shipping to have settings sent to you! They were so nice on the phone.

Maisie, that is beautiful!!!

BLISS & Packrat, thanks for your likes too, soooo many beauties

LALOVE, oh wow, those are gorgeous, thank you!! I love the octagon looking one & one from Lang's!!! :cheeky:

COATI, wow, you can read my mind on my likes!!! You know me so well!!!

MRS. S, oh that makes sense! I wonder what french cuts look like?? like how sparkly are they?

SparklyOEC, The thread that Coati linked was talking about nicks and scratches and letting them be (DiaGem) said that. I heard you can buff them out all depending on where they are, etc but if they don't hurt the integrity of the stone then not to worry about it, interesting stuff huh? I am learning too! hehe Victor Canera made LGK's gorgeous ring that I attached.

thank you all so MUCH!!! Wow, sooooo many GORGEOUS Settings!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:    :cheeky: :cheeky:

here is lgk's and happycanary's rings :cheeky:

LGK's setting you just posted is gorgeous as well! It's so hard to narrow things down, isn't it? Coati's double bezel is another ring that makes me weak kneed.

The setting I posted is not from SS; it is an estate piece from Shreve in San Francisco and priced way high! Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a handshot so those are the only two photos I have. Thanks for the info on SS's shipping of rings to try out. I am definitely going to do that but need to whittle my list before starting that process...

Absolutely love all the pics of beautiful vintage rings people are posting! Keep it going.

here setting is gorgeous!!! I am loving Wallermama's setting and that Dragonfly and the one Coati posted! This is so hard; I think I am going to have to buy some and then send them back and pic the one I like best. I might go try some settings on to make sure similar ones look good on me, yanno? hehe thanks Packrat!
