I loved it when Simon told the gal who couldn''t believe she wasn''t through (the makeup artist) that she can now cross singer off her list and focus on something else

lol and then how they FREAK OUT when they are told no and start to cry ... it''s like okay come on, calm down...what do you want them to say? okay you are through because you won''t shut up?! hehee.

The only down side to coming over to my BF''s house for a couple of weeks is that he hates AI!!!!!!!...so we will have to fight for the remote!!!!...or I will just have to go upstairs!

I didn''t like the Shakira chick much....she looked a little weird to me...there was just something about her that screamed "fake" that really bothered me...and she was cute, but I think her torso was way longer than her legs or something...dunno, something didn''t look proportional to me or maybe it was just the way she was dressed that made her torso look super long!!!

I can''t wait for more AI!!!

What was the deal with the guy that came up and knelt in front of them?? What was he being/doing?? Besides really weird.

John bought me Dreyers new frozen yogurt for dessert tonight. Last night I had a scoop of Rocky Road that had been in our fridge since November 11 (I know the date because it was here when I finished the Breast Cancer 3Day and he bought it for my mom), he said I should throw it away instead of eating it but I needed a treat after all of the Oreo discussion going on here.

Enjoy the evening, Seattle is supposed to be the strangest city yet. I commented to John that I have a hard time laughing at the wierdness this year as these people aren''t just goofy they seem seriously deranged.

SO strange you said that, it''s not funny. Really. Hubby made the remark, there''s something truly wrong with some of these people. I agree.

Last year there were a lot of silly people, this year it just seems like the strangest of the strange, in a not so good way, have come out to play. They all seem to need therapy as opposed to a reality check.

Off to the couch for some frozen yogurt.

Agreed.

oh my god.

i am like 20 minutes through this and i am like PEOPLE GET A FRIGGIN GRIP.

'oh sorry my throat is dry...lemme get some water'...'oh can i get some more water?'...its like hello people, you do not sound MAGICALLY BETTER after water. there is no magic water.

if simon is screaming at you that YOU SUCK then just LEAVE. seriously is there any sort of coming back from that? is he suddenly going to change his mind? and then they start singing ANYWAY AGAIN even though everyone is telling them to get out. have some pride...you ARE on TV?!

i'm scared...there is some scary bleached blonde chick up with bright red lipstick up now who thinks her look is the 'sexiest' who's about to sing 'don'tcha'.

OK, I missed this yesterday. I have never never watched AI. We have an AI product out so it''s in my best interest to watch this program. I just turned on. I have watched 30 seconds. I can''t do it. It''s awful. It''s actually physically painful. And stupid.

Please tell me it gets better.

Is it me or is this show becoming a FREAK show? It''s a plethera of bad & weird singers. I blame the screeners. They seem to want to put these crazies in front of the judges. I think Jewel had about enough of it. Stop the insanity & start putting some decent people w/o a shick in front of the judges.

Also, I have yet to see someone blow me away. Maybe I''m jaded.

I liked the girl with the huge smile last night and the last contestant on the first day, I think his name was Rudy. Neither blew me away but I enjoyed their voices.

TG: It is stupid and silly, but so is most television, don''tcha think? (pun intended) It is frighteningly representative of what many youth in America believe to be their future: be discovered, get swept off to Hollywood, make it to the top and live the good life. If you keep watching you''ll see some talent and a lot of wishful thinkers who haven''t been given a lesson in reality.

Agreed on the strange instead of silly.

Last night was kind of horrific to watch. Everybody gets a good laugh with the kooks who come out, knowing they are bad, and goof off to get on camera. But to play up all these poor, misguided people who truly thought they had a chance and then be really rude and mean to them? I couldn''t watch it all - most of the night was spent watching it on FF.

I haven''t really noticed anyone that was GOOD. There were a bunch of kids who I thought were ok, but no one who I was all excited to see again.

hopefully they are hiding all the interesting people until hollywood week....

OOohhh you guys reminded me of what was making me SO MAD last night.

DELUSIONAL PEOPLE + DELUSIONAL PARENTS = a hard, hard life

That sixteen-year old boy who left in tears?? 'I just wanted to start out FAMOUS?' Uh, duh ... who doesn't but that takes TALENT you doofus. And his MOM tells him 'Don't worry honey, you'll be famous!' Does she have EYES??? Oh my gosh! It's one thing to tell kids they're special, that they're pretty, that they're smart ...

BUT 'GOING TO BE FAMOUS?' C'mon, Mom. Those judges were telling him the truth. Singing is not his future. It's not something you can 'work harder at' if you don't have some gift to begin with ... and instead of helping him DEAL with rejection ... perhaps learn some healthy COPING SKILLS ... she just rejects the rejection. 'Nope! You are STILL going to be FAMOUS I promise!'

Parents of the world -- I swear this does not help your kids! Yeesh!

Seriously! This is the exact same thought I had...isn't it a parent's job to encourage the hell out of your kids, but without giving them DELUSIONS of grandeur?

Anyway, just wanted to chime in on the first official AI thread of 2007....wooooohoooooo!!!!

You guys have no idea how ridiculously excited I am. Seriously, on Tuesday, all I could think about all day long was how I was gonna get to watch AI that night! I am, indeed, a shameless AI groupie.

I don't know how this year could top last year, though. Sooooo many talented people last year.

And of course, no one could ever come close to my beloved TayTay.

C'mon Deco, you know what I'm talkin' about!

Seriously though, I'm waaaaaaaaaay excited about a new season of AI. So excited, it's a little bit pitiful. hehe.

ETA: And I totally agree that auditions this year seem to have gone from "these people are so bad it's funny" to "these people have serious psychiatric issues." And I did feel a little bit sorry for most of them. Especially the kid that Simon said looks like a bush baby. Yes, I was stifling giggles, but c'mon...the kid can't control how big his eyes are!

I dunno Kimberly...I stopped watching TV about 5 years ago. I think Frasier was the last program thing I watched. I just hate making commitments.

Stupid and silly are fine, fun even, but last night was quite painful...I am sure there is a reason why millions love it, so maybe I will watch once the real talent begins!

Chris Daultry is singing the national anthem - I think Saints/Bears game. Kellie Picker was guest host on the View.

Oooh TAY TAY and Fantasia were on Larry King last night ... cute show. Both of them were very humble & gave props to the series etc ...

TAYLOR LOOKS AMAZING!!! I''m still trying to get tickets for his tour when the come to Foxwoods in CT but they won''t announce an "on sale" date yet -- so we have to keep checking every day! (Concerts not til March)

Okay ...

TG - sorry the audition round had to be your one shot at the IDOL madness! Even I, a true IDOL fanatic, can get tired of watching 75% crazies singing badly ... the reason I even WATCH this part is for "the moment" .. the moment you see your favorite. The one you''ll follow throughout the competition & root for. That happened for me last year with Taylor! The best parts are when you start feeling like you "know" the contestants & wonder what they''ll sing & do etc every week. Maybe try it again then???

How ''bout these RATINGS??? 2nd highest rated show EVER ...in it''s 5th season!!! I think it''s partially because there''s been a TV drought over the holiday ... and how POPULAR last season was - with the TAY TAY movement! People who used to dismiss AI as another Star Search saw that serious musicians could come out of the competition ... and as the previous Idols get Grammy & other high-profile successes, more people wanna watch!

HOORAY!!!

This is the only show that I watch regularly. Hubby and I will flip on Law and Order before bed because I love that I don''t have to follow a story line (I''m like you, I can''t commit). But I fell into it for the same reasons deco did, I found someone I really enjoyed (it just so happened to be Taylor as well) and I just enjoyed watching him sing.

This was much more painful than last season (which was the first season I watched with any sort of consistency) so I know what you mean.

Anyways, not trying to convince you, my dad hates this show as well, he doesn''t understand how my mom and I can enjoy watching it.

Happy watching, or not!

omg...check this out. dying!!

OMG....priceless!!!!

So most of these people ARE indeed completely delusional. Wow.
Wow, that was so funny I almost fell out of my chair. Even better than thesuperficial.com dude''s everyday comments!
36.gif

To be fair to all the freaks (and if this has been said, ignore me!), I heard they have to go through 2 screenings before they go in front of Simon, Randy and Paula. If this is true, the producers pick the freaks so they''ll be ridiculed on TV. For the people that want to be ridiculed, great. But what about the kids that really feel as though they''re good? The kids with the delusions of grandeur? Kind of depressing.

On a happier note, I opened a bottle of red wine both nights and relaxed on the couch with my pug while watching. I caught my fiance, who thinks American Idol is "totally lame", watching from his desk chair. I guess he thinks I forgot how many episodes he watched with me last season? He''s secretly hooked.

lol monarch well thesuperficial dude is the one who had the link to that website which is how i found it. gotta love it!

ebree, yeah greg swears to dislike the show too but he watched it last season with me ... kinda...from his kitchen chair. hehee.

OK Deco and Kimberly, you guys let me know when it''s safe to watch. I''m already deaf in my left ear...don''t wanna damage/lose the other one.

More AI tomorrow night!! Get excited!!

Will it be pre-empted by the State of the Union speech?

We have tickets to see a play tonight, we''ll have to DVR it. Enjoy!

Ohhhhh, I sure hope not!
29.gif

ETA: i meant I hope the SOTU address won't pre-empt it

I just checked, AI comes on at 8/7c followed by the SOTU address at 9/8c. Phew!

OK, I have to admit, it was FAR less painful tonight. Last week was just full of total weirdos. At least this time I could kind of see why these people *thought* they could sing.

The fidel castro guy cracked me up...gotta love surprises. The shy girl reminded me of Jennifer Hudson (or at least what I''ve seen of her in some interviews). Just sweet.
