Post your FAVORITE PLAIN SOLITAIRE setting!

You've got lots of beautiful choices but I think my vote would be the classic Tiffany. I would go with Excel to make it - I still think their version is the closest to the real thing. I love the swoopy, six prong head - makes the stone look as large as possible. You could also pair many different bands with it - particularly if you don't mind the gap. I love the gap that it creates though!

I'm glad you are going back to a solitaire setting - I loved your solitaire before the halo!!

Oops - thought I was in Bliss' thread about reset!

trivia - a pricescoper named this design :)

she designed it, I thought?
I think one designed and another named. It was a group effort for at least the naming if not the designing also.

My absolute favorite is the Vatche Swan and if I ever do an upgrade that is definitely the setting I would choose. I also love the Mark Morrell Torchiere, the JBEG Sophia, and the classic Tiffany 6-prong style.

This is a great thread, as I am still undecided about which setting I want to use for my 4.34 ct. RB.

DS, will you please post pics of your Leon again?

Thanks.

Another vote for the Torchiere here. With diamonds in the head. Sigh, someday...

Sure! Keep in mind that this setting looks better IMO with a larger stone. These were just quick pics I took when someone asked how platinum held up over time.

To be honest.....I'm in love with the whiteflash setting! This will be my next "project". Hehe! :naughty:

My favourite is the Tiffany setting. I prefer solitaire settings over any other for an engagement ring and Tiffany's was always my "prototype" engagement ring.

I've never seen this one before but I really like it. Elegant and modern.

I should have posted this one before since BG now carries H Levi. It is the Royal Charm and still one of my favorite settings:

I'm rather a fan of the Mark Morrell petite torchiere (of course I'm biased :naughty: )

Wow, I love the Vatche Royal Crown!! Does anyone have this in yellow gold??

Someone had a solitaire from Leon Mege with pave on the side of the prongs. Can anyone post a link to the post?

I recently saw Gabriel & Co's ER8073W4JJJ on their site, and I think it would be so lovely. Don't know if anyone on PS has it, but it seems like a really interesting profile view while still getting the classic 4-prong solitaire look.

And, fairly economical as far as these things go (under $600 in 14k white gold as of April 2012): http://www.gabrielengaged.com/style/ER8073W4JJJ

Check out this. I was surprised when I saw it, but I think it totally works (from the main SMTB thread, page 1):

No diamonds in the shank (surprise diamonds and diamonds in the head okay) ....

Which plain solitaire is your favorite? (Pictures or links appreciated!)

You don't have to pick one either.

My favorite cathedral is the BGD Elegance. I just adore this setting and want a lovely OEC to get set into it. http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/home/ring-details/?product_id=5415

My favorite bezel/half bezel and it is by Sholdt: http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/sholdt-jewelry/rings/08ZZ1/

My favorite non-cathedral is the Sophie by JBEG: http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/JbEG-Signature-Settings-and/Plain-and-Pave-Solitaires/The-Sophie-Solitaire/12794511_dg9wL#792914045_qNJcN

My Favorite with diamonds in the head is the Julia by JBEG: http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/JbEG-Signature-Settings-and/Plain-and-Pave-Solitaires/The-Julia-Solitaire/12794553_T9nUz#821505627_UGdN2

What are your favorites?

I dream about the JBEG Sophie......it's definitely number 1 on my list of 2.0 rings.

*drool*

I wanted a "plain" solitaire and spent awhile trying to figure out what I liked. I wanted minimalism but some uniqueness and ended up getting a NESW "twist" solitaire custom made. It's based off of this: http://www.serendipitydiamonds.co.uk/product/R1D002

Unfortunately, I don't have enough great pictures yet because sand got in my camera, and it needs to be repaired. :\

So here are the pics I do have, one the jeweler took before she mailed it, the other is from the beach right after engagement (and before sand accident).
