No diamonds in the shank (surprise diamonds and diamonds in the head okay) ....

Which plain solitaire is your favorite? (Pictures or links appreciated!)

You don't have to pick one either.

My favorite cathedral is the BGD Elegance. I just adore this setting and want a lovely OEC to get set into it. http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/home/ring-details/?product_id=5415

My favorite bezel/half bezel and it is by Sholdt: http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/sholdt-jewelry/rings/08ZZ1/

My favorite non-cathedral is the Sophie by JBEG: http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/JbEG-Signature-Settings-and/Plain-and-Pave-Solitaires/The-Sophie-Solitaire/12794511_dg9wL#792914045_qNJcN

My Favorite with diamonds in the head is the Julia by JBEG: http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/JbEG-Signature-Settings-and/Plain-and-Pave-Solitaires/The-Julia-Solitaire/12794553_T9nUz#821505627_UGdN2

What are your favorites?

Oh that's lovely. No bar and a cathedral too. WOW. That's a nice choice.

Central... lmao. I've seen that one actually fool Tiffany staff, so it's a good choice and a classic for a reason!

OMG thank you for this thread Gypsy! :appl: I'm finding myself drawn more to solitaires then before.

I love
Leon's
WF's Fine line
JbEG's Sophie & Julia
Tiffany's classic 6 prong & 4 prong version as well.

I adore the WF sleek line! Really, any tapered band because I love the way it emphasizes the center stone. 8) Have the prongs done custom to make them a little more dainty and you have my favourite solitaire setting! :Up_to_something:

That one is lovely MrsS. I especially like it for a square cut.

The Caroline is my favorite Vatche! It's lovely!

I have the Dimend Scaasi Alessandra  and it's definitely my favorite solitaire.

Over the year or so I was looking for a solitaire, I kept coming back to two settings: the Maevona Westray (http://www.maevona.com/bridal/8/Westray) and the Sholdt Simply Solitaire (http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/sholdt-jewelry/rings/28ZZ1/). As soon as I saw the Alessandra I knew it was the one--it beautifully merges both of those settings.

I've never been to the Maevona site... that Westray is a really lovely design. Great choice.

The Sholdt simply solitaire is beautiful but it never looks safe enough to me.

I like the Legato, but prefer teh BGD Truth. Funny how much difference a little squiggle can make.

Thanks, MrsS! I definitely think it is one of the best solitaires! I guess my favorites were the Leon (which I have) and the Tiffany knife edge, but I'd probably go with the BG version if I wanted one. But I am really uncertain what I'd choose if I had it to do over. In some ways, the proportion of the V. Caroline is better than my Leon. I think my stone is set slightly too low. I like the WF Legato sleekline, too.

If I had an AVC or AV round, I might go with one of the JBEG solitaires if I couldn't do a Van Craeynest.

In order of preference:

1. Sholdt semi-bezel (obviously, since I haz one :rodent: )

2. Mark Morell flame or torchiere (I like the surprise diamonds there)

3. Probably the Vache swan. VERY elegant.
