Warming up here! YAY! Bright blue sky and not a cloud to be seen! Plus temps on the weekend will help melt some of the snow. Happy to have left over salmon cakes for supper. Not cooking is awesome! Cleaned out the shoe closet today and vacuumed dust bunnies the size of tumbleweeds! LOL.

@marcy your story about your rings was kinda scary. How could anyone forget or leave behind stuff they've cleaned? Good on you for being on top of things. And your ring is splendid. I'd love one! Enjoy the rest of your day off.

@missy hope things are going as well as they can. And I had no idea that assisted living would be that expensive where you are. Why is that--is it just NY or everywhere in the US? I guess I shouldn't be surprised--our neighbor is moving to a really nice place and it is megs$$$. She is preplanning and I applaud her for that--but she is a great neighbour and I'll miss her. She is in great health and of very sound mind.

@Austina I saw a scorpion in the bathroom of a desert golf course. I bolted off the pot in a hurry!!! Glad you are replanting roses. You must tell me what species you are buying. I love chicken picata--glad you got leftovers. No cooking!!!! One of my favorite restaurants in Palm Springs makes a lovey CP.

@Sunrises Sunsets your story reminds me of my DH Grandfather--he was a widower and was on his own for a while, them moved into assisted living. He was in his milieu--made friends easily and loved the activities. His words exactly--I don't now why I waited so long! Yet in my experience these are exceptions, not the rule.

I laughed when he ordered the harness and leash. He started by putting it on him in the house and walking him around. Now when Smoky wants to go out he lifts his paw to get in the leash! He doesn’t pull or try to run or pull on it. He walks like a dog!

Honestly, when you see a photo of Ollie looking all angelic, it’s hard to believe he’s a little furry demon @missy Love the memes about the fur, so true, fortunately with always having long haired dogs, we didn’t have that problem. People always thought sheepdogs shed a lot, but they didn’t, and neither did Dottie.

We didn’t really do much today, another dull day weather wise, just doing a few things around the house.

@Austina believe it lol. I swear anyone else would have dumped this cat or at least returned him to the rescue group. We won't abandon him because he is family but he tries my patience to the max. It is upsetting seeing him go after Tommy or Bobby and yes he does attack them for no reason. He is very territorial and nothing we do works. We give him a time out in the playpen but it really is not a great option. We have tried everything but obedience school and they do not offer that for cats. There are cat "whisperers" but no one near us. Cats do not listen or follow the rules. Not like dogs. Dogs are much easier pets. IMO

@canuk-gal our winter weather is back drat. Hope yours is improving

Oh no, those naughty rascals @missy, I hope they haven’t caused too much damage. Waldo was our devil dog, he was a one dog wrecking crew, we never knew what we were going to come home to. Those were the days when I’d never heard of crating. The weather is due to warm up here too, so fingers crossed. I’m not complaining about the rain, because we’ll never have enough, but it’d be nice to see some sun again. Of course, it’s going to be hot next week, just as we leave for the cold

Thanks for reassuring me that swelling Greg's experiencing is on par with healing. His last knee surgery recovery went more smoothly but he was four years younger then too...it makes a difference

@Austina thanks...not too much damage yet. LOL. Your sweet Waldo sounds very like our (not so) sweet Oliver...he is a love but omg he is also a terror. I was hoping he would outgrow it but at age 5 that window is now closed. Sorry you are missing the next heat wave so to speak but you will enjoy your trip I am confident and it will be nice to be away

@MamaBee how did your rheumatology appointment go yesterday? I like Slickk's suggestion if you cannot get in sooner to see a neurologist the ED and being admitted is a good idea if you are not experiencing relief from your symptoms. When Greg was admitted to the hospital from the ED they stated it was the only way he could see the specialists "fast" which meant 48 hours but in their world that is fast. Not so fast when one is suffering and in pain and feeling awful

Oh lol I forgot to share that our microwave (4-5 years old and not inexpensive) broke two days ago! LOL cannot make this stuff up. Planned obsolescence indeed. So we ordered the same one (don't ask we could have researched a different option but I am all researched out and this is Greg's department) as it is a drawer microwave so we didn't have that many options for it to fit exactly. So we ordered the exact same one. SMH. We shall see how long this one lasts. Greg is planning on retiring within the year but if appliances keep breaking and healthcare keeps rising I am not so sure (JK). LOL

The new microwave is due to arrive today. I mean talk about fast. I cannot complain. We got the couches fast and now the microwave fast. Even the range was not a long wait despite the mishap with installation delay. No complaints. I just wish it all lasted a bit longer like the "old" days. Where nothing seemed to break.

@missy I know I’m old when I say they don’t make things like they used to.. It really is true though. Your microwave shouldn’t die at 4-5 years old. It used to be 10 years as the average for an appliance. Our Sub zero is over ten years now..It’s starting to give us trouble. It’s mainly the plastic parts are breaking in the freezer drawer. It still runs great..but it’s a pain because we can’t close the drawer to the freezer when there’s a part hanging which prevents us from closing the drawer. S was using so many expletives yesterday trying to put it together. After all that we still have to call someone in. I hope your new one lives longer!
@missy @Austina @Slickk I went to the GI doctor on Wednesday. She wants me back on regular food now. I’m mad I went up a pound and a half. I figure if I have to go through hell I want to get something positive out if it. Oh well..I’m also going to wean off Prilosec..I’m not a fan of it so I’ll be glad to stop it.
I had my follow up with a NP at my cardiologist’s office yesterday. I was very impressed with him. I’m going to follow up with him for my pulse and blood pressure. I go again next month…I like my PCP but I’m not too sure she is following my oscillating pulse as close as she should. My diastolic is also too high even with my bp medicine.
I also developed a UTI supposedly from the meds I’ve been taking..It’s very mild according to the lab but it hurts..I did too much running around yesterday..I went to two doctor visits, made dinner and washed the dishes. I only got a half hour nap. I was up all night with the UTI. I didn’t want to start the antibiotic until this morning so I would be able to get the probiotic in there. I’m so worried about getting the nausea again. The doctor said to take the antibiotic twice a day. In the middle I take the probiotic. Since it’s such a mild infection I only have to be on it five days.. Fingers crossed..Today I’m going to take a long nap.
Hi to everyone else. I’ll be back later. David has his music therapy in a half hour. This therapist plays her guitar on Zoom..and David and she belts out whatever songs David wants to sing. It’s pretty funny, He loves it..

The nurse tried seven times to get the iv going over two hours! She obviously didn’t know what she was doing so she gave up. It was really painful. H sent me a photo of her poor arms. They’re all black and blue today..They rescheduled it for Monday which left her without the infusion she needs until they try again. Monday is many days away from when she was supposed to get the IV…So..now she’s very sick with nausea and vomiting..She asked me to tell you that she may not be back here for a week or two. I’m hoping the person they send on Monday knows what they’re doing so they can give her the infusion she needs before she goes into full blown Crohn’s. She’s very sick right now so I can’t imagine it being any worse..
She wanted me to send you hugs and wishes for a nice weekend. XOXOXOXO

Poor @mrs-b, please pass on our good wishes when you next speak to her @MamaBee. I’m glad you’re going to be able to eat proper food again, and hope that doesn’t cause you any issue. Good news that you’re happy with the hew Doc and hope they can get your BP stable. Yuk to the UTI, are you drinking cranberry juice to help. Hopefully the AB’s will kick in quickly and relieve the discomfort, it’s a horrible thing to have to deal with on top of everything else.

Honestly @missy, years ago when I was talking to a service engineer, he told me that all domestic appliances have built in obsolescence. In the old days they were too well built and lasted too long, so no repeat business, now they use cheap components so they last just long enough to be out of warranty. It’s ridiculous and a terrible waste.

Beautiful day here, we had to go out and get more lawn treatment, landscaping stones, and also a new outdoor coffee table. Goodness only knows how our current one ended up all ripped to shreds. Went in the pool this afternoon, sun was out and the water was warm.

We nearly took off putting the cover back on, it was sooo windy. We had a massive storm last night too.

No plans for the w/e, have a good one lovely NIRDIs.
