Thanks AG! I had the day off college today and have only gotten through 2 lectures, so to answer your question it takes ages to get anything done

I''m sure your kitties will get along with any doggie that you bring home. It is so nice seeing them get on.

lol I''ll try and get some more toe pictures for you later!! lol!! Last night we had to lock him out of our bedroom as he was trying to attack us in the middle of the night, then about five minutes after we locked him out he set off the house alarm by banging on the window. I went down to turn it off and came back and the little wagon was asleep on my spot in the bed. I''ve never met a cat so cheeky

One of ours woke us up at 5am this morning by throwing up - definitely not as cheeky, but I feel your pain

I think kitty is fine - they just throw up sometimes, and with three it seems like someone is always doing it, even though I know that''s not really true - just seems like it when you are cleaning it up

Totally meant to say Lorelei - you would go nuts for my little Gretchen''s toes - she is a calico and she has the most tiny, perfect, adorable itty bitty pink and white feet - they are slightly pointed at the fronts too, which just cracks me up. My DH and I play with them all the time and she never understands why, but they are completely irresistable, and the contrast between her tiny toes and Oliver''s giant tufty ones - too much!

Studies are coming along well. I got through the hardest semester that we have (last semester) so am over half way now
36.gif
We have see practice for 26 weeks before we qualify and I''m just after sorting out my easter break practice and am going to one of the biggest equine veterinary hospitals over here-cannot wait! The guy told me that there were over fourty students trying to get in, but he picked me so I''m thrilled

I know how hard it can be to get into these places and the prestige is incredible if you get selected - good for you!!!! Do you think you might specialize in equine practice once you qualify?

Thank you!! My mam''s in France at the moment so I can''t tell her yet as her phone doesn''t have any signal. Dying to tell everyone! I''m not sure what I''d like to specialize in yet-I''ve worked in the small animal practice for five years at this stage and I do love it there but I love being out and about with the large animal vets too. I did two weeks over our Christmas break with a large animal vet who does mostly equine work too and that was brilliant. I''d say this hospital work though will be a lot more pressurized. Can''t wait though-they said that there will be tons of foalings on site so I can''t wait for that.

It sounds really exciting!!! I have a question!! When a mare is foaling I have always been brought up to believe that it is always best to interfere as little as possible and observe observe observe unless necessary to do otherwise, but I have read some breeders routinely deliver foals themselves and dive straight in as soon as the mare is showing signs of labour. What are the recommended procedures these days? I could be stuck in the dark ages of course as I was taught by old horsemen as a child and old habits and ' rules' die hard!

We''re told in college to observe as well and if it goes beyond a certain time we have to jump in then. It''ll be interested to see what happens at this place. I think it''s the same with cattle and sheep, as we were told not to jump in but all the farms that I went to get experience at, they all jumped in after about 15 minutes and whipped them out.

Interesting, thanks Bee! I suppose you get a gut instinct as well if the mare/ ewe/ sow isn''t progressing as she should, if all appears to be fine but slow, best to get the baby out rather than take chances!
