Thanks for sharing all the pictures! Some day, I’d love to attend. I imagine that it would be overwhelming, tiring and exhilarating in rapid cycling all at once lol. The effects of desire, urgent searching, appreciation and love in massive doses all together lol!

Really nice earrings that go with everything. I love the way that baguettes play with light. They have a wonderful, streamlined elegance to them. I had in mind that I eventually need to find something like this to go with the pieces of jewelry in platinum with baguettes, such as moonlight jelly and my lavender jade pendant.

The price of the diamond bracelet seems really good. And, those rings are very interesting....the patterns of blue and white, and the flat, ribbon like quality remind me of fine bead pattern work, like a touch of tribalism to them, which again is such an interesting combination when combined with sparkle.

@Bluegemz the prices just go up every show. I don't earn USD$ so I really feel it. Better to go earlier than later. There are sellers out to cut throat and others just want to sell to recoup cost with decent margins. Or to just put themselves out there. But no one is overly pushy. Except for the salesman working for one of the booths from my home country which I told him off nicely today that I didn't like his sales tactics coz he was mouthing off bollocks.

The diamonds bangles and bracelets differ a lot in price booth to booth for similar designs though Seaglow's one is the only one carried by that stall. I bow once again to her non pareil negotiation skills ;-)

Hauynite rings were first spotted by Seaglow, of course!

@Burmesedaze do you find the price of jewellry goes up in general or mainly the price of CS?

CS all the time.

Jewellery like diamond jewellery depends really on the margins they want to make vs diamond cost, gold price, labour costs, other overheads etc. Really have to hunt around and with a bit of luck.

I just love those Tahitians. Those are my favorite, but all are beautiful. One could stare at the gentle subtlety of the different colors forever.

Thank you :) I didn't even know they came in these pastel shades.

Now to shop for clasps.

@Burmesedaze What do you think is driving up the prices? Scarcity of gems or higher demand? A bit sad to read that even though I’m not surprised.

Scarcity yes. Probably affluenza too o_O

The internet, media, social media and even PS all fuel demand don't they? Passion, hobby, status symbol, collectors, speculators, expectations, the list goes on.

I wonder if there will be a renewed emerald craze after Crazy Rich Asians. Astrid's earrings were rubbish, though.

I need to somehow make it happen in the coming years. I’ve been restrained with gem shopping lately with 2 of my 4 kids so close to college, one studying overseas this year, and the other next year, but I also need gem joy in my life lol!

Those pearls are magnificent in sunlight, wow.

I agree that Astrid’s earrings were nonsensical! But Michelle Yeoh’s ring is the real thing and would have made a good sized hole in the film’s budget haha.

Viewed a few very dark Mogok sapphires today on behalf of a guy pal. He likes them this dark.

A set of small purplish pink Mogok sapphires that are too small for the price quoted.

Bracelet? Necklace?

The cab looks great. A bit on the longish side but the color seems nice.

Viewed Mogok spinels from a local collector today. Not getting any as I can't think of anything to do with them.

They are so pretty! I can imagine that sensuous cab set in a neglige type style in which it dangles down lengthwise, almost like a tassel. Maybe even with another one of similar shape, same or different color, maybe even with tiny pearls. Also, those little ones would be gorgeous as a cluster, set tightly together. I imagine it would look almost edible, like the seeds of a pomegranate. Kind of like how bohemian garnets were set. The examples are mostly older styles, but one could do these setting ideas in a very modern way!

Thanks for the design ideas but I'm really not feeling them. The cab is a good size but weirdly shaped and pretty included.

I just wish the collector had collected better spinels :)

I'm not a fan of the bigger spinels, but the smaller ones would make for a drool-worthy bracelet if you pay for the workmanship.

Negotiating on this 2.46ct colour shift sapphire for my friend today. I think it makes for a more interesting man's ring than the darker blue from earlier in the week. Mogok, untreated.

@Burmesedaze, hi:wavey:, you and this thread are the reason I've become obsessed with cabs, so... thanks? (My wallet doesn't thank you though:cry2:). This is actually my favourite thread on ps. I met you and @Seaglow by chance at the gem museum a couple years ago. My friend who is still living in Yangon is ready to buy a sapphire. She lost your card about a week after meeting you but really wants to make contact. Would you mind contacting me through my old lt listing? If you're not up for it that's totally fine too! BUT If you are ok to contact me, my lt handle is the same as here; 737lizakg ( so inventive!). Oh, and my small stones that I bought from snow white are still sitting unset, waiting for me to decide what to do with them!

OMG hi there! Has it really been THAT long???!! How are you doing?

Sure, I will contact you on LT. It's better for your friend to let Snow White know her budget and expected size and colour. Most of the stones are held by traders so they can do a reachout :)

I'm waiting for more photos and only have this video.

But I think this 19ct blue Mogok star sapphire has potential :)

I’m just distracted by that nail! It looks so healthy! I wonder how long it would take to grow mine that long... :cheeky:

Mine will never last that long!

@Burmesedaze
I like the color but see some patches? Not sure if reflection or not. Lots of potential indeed! Pls keep us posted!
