I see six figures!

Hey my bestie wants to buy a ruby for her 40th in a few years. I told her to forgo the diamond studs she intends to buy and go for a ruby now instead, studs later.

You think that's correct? Cuz I'm thinking in a few years it'll be even harder to find.

Burmese rubies yes. They are really getting scarcer for cleaner and crystal pieces. The ones in the market I see on a common basis are rather opaque or else heavily included.

Diamonds can always wait!

Thanks @Burmesedaze

Passing it on now. Great price for unheated!

She's trying to battle her idiot husband who is a know it all and has declared she can't buy rubies because they have no value. Yes he's one of those! I could go on for days but will stop here.

EtA: That sold fast!!!! Good example for her to look at anyhow!

Very nice haul. How fun to go together! It’s a really nicely shaped heart, Seaglow has a really good eye. How do you find the BKK fair? Would it be easy for a tourist to navigate?

Just got back from a work dinner and hanging out at my colleague's awesome pad here.

A few more photos but not the best in hotel lighting. Past midnight. No daylight :)

Calculator usd. Not bht. So you should bring usd with you. Most are foreign sellers and they prefer that.

Bangle us4k+ same shop as Seaglow's diamond bracelet. They are based in HK. I didn't like t heir remaining stock so passed on it.

Paraiba and hauynite ring! Over 1k below 2k!

Whoa!!!! So expensive!!!! Is it cuz they both hit over 2 carats?

That ring is a nice price for a complete ring! So pretty!

Are the diamonds on the halo the same as the hauynite size or are they clustered up to make them seem bigger?

ohh just saw that hauynite is a moh of 5-6! Don't want an incident with that!

I swiped my tourmaline on a lemon twig last week while picking lemons (for a friend just before heading out hence ring was on finger) and almost died on the spot! Lucky no scratches!

Coz they are pigeon blood over 2ct there's a demand and sold at the Japan booth

If the hauynite rings could fit me I'd have gotten one. Same store where Seaglow bought hers! Platinum.

Diamonds per piece are smaller

Next Fair in Mid Feb. I'm skipping it as it starts mid week.

There was this 3.06ct Colombian emerald with general enhancement from a secondhand Japanese stall. Jp lab memo calls it the above (oiled, presumably). I like the open green but it is included. Day 1 Guy A quoted US$1600 best price. Day 2 Guy B wanted US$2000. I got my Burmese exhibitor friend over to loupe it hahs. She says moderate to heavily included though good apple green and no black spots. The FUGLY 18k YG setting and chain at 8g can be recycled for around US$300. But the emerald per ct should be under US$500. Factor in the need for a new setting and how arbitrary the pricing is for a used item, I passed on it on the end.
