Pics of the purple sapphire under incandescent lights. I'm going to send it in to the local lab here to test. But I'm pretty happy with the price and colour. Has a window which i think will mostly close in the right setting.

Oh, same. I just bought a pink Burmese spinel. Seller says he is genuine. I don't know. Never bought from him before. I paid and then thought to look him up on the internet. How silly of me. Now I am so worried it is not real spinel.

This is the one. He said no extinction and no window. He seemed honest and told me about windowing on other gems.

That’s CaratZone, quite a few people here have bought from him before. So far it seems his gems have checked out to be genuine and as described, but of course you should do your own verification.

Your ring is stunning!!! I love the colour play of gorgeous blues in your stone

Thank you! It has a closed back which I think helps to intensify the colour play. I am so happy with it :)

I passed my 3.6ct light blue sapphire to my jewellers to bring back with them today. Because this baby was being couriered over to them from Mogok for me and we wanted to compare the colours.

4.95ct. Bluer than my ring :D
Will be sent to the lab to test for treatments.

Ok, so it's really early in the morning for me and I'm easily confused o_O Are you thinking about buying the 4.95? Trying to choose between the 3.6 and the 4.95?
And the moonstone is fantastic!

The 3.6ct ring is mine from about 2 years back. I purchased the 4.85ct through my jewellers from Facebook from a Mogok seller. He had the 4.85ct couriered down to Yangon to their home along with a 3.2ct after payment was made for the 4.85ct. I passed my ring to my jewellers yesterday to bring home to compare with the stones as the stones only arrived at their home yesterday evening.

I headed back to their shop today to collect my ring and take a look at the 4.85ct stone in the flesh, before they bring it to the local lab for me. The other loose 3.2ct is for my jewellers who are still thinking whether to get it for shop stock or to resell :)

@Burmesedaze do you have any recommendations for where to buy moonstone? I want something like the one in your ring pics earlier on this page (rainbow/blue sheen cab). Thanks!

Sorry I get them in Yangon itself or else online from the Mogok folks via my jewellers. It's pretty much cash based here so payment is either via local bank transfer or cash.

I could pass you my jewellers' Viber contact if you'd really like to get.

Dear ladies, I'm discussing with the HK/China bench over whatsapp on various settings and I would like your opinion.

It's the same 1.1ct purplish red Mogok ruby from a few pages back. These 4 stock designs can fit the stone. I've kind of narrowed them down to these 2 since they have bigger halos and I do want to halo the ruby nicely!

Larger halo us 970 excl setting fees and extra gold for my size. Squarish one with smaller diamonds us720. Ct weight pls refer to tags. 18k wg.

Opinions, pls?

The bigger one looks more blingy but has a more....."asian" air about it.

I do love the diamonds on the basket.

The smaller more angular halo looks more vintagey to me and makes the stone look bigger in comparison to the ring.

The bigger halo looks like there is more finger coverage but due to the setting rather than the stone.

Lol hope that makes sense!

Even though you have other squareish halos, I like the second one. I like the way the diamonds on the shoulders graduate down. Also, better profile. But remember, I'm a dork. ;)2

I prefer the profile of the 2nd too. It's a lot more elegant and antique/heirloom looking. I only issues with the halo being too small for the ruby which faces up 6.44mm x 5.86mm and my middle finger is a size 9. So it might look too much shank and not enough ruby/bling :)

If I have a halo soulmate, that'd be you! I don't have a basket with diamonds yet...hmm. Can't deny I like more diamonds in the bigger halo. I also love the vintage look of the second. But the tradeoff is.... Halo too small and overall look on a size 9 finger would be out of proportion. Large halo is kinda classic Asian, other than basket diamonds, no X factor? I think you get my confused ramble :D

Basket diamonds is definitely the X factor. I have one with teeny tiny diamonds in the basket and I get soooo much joy out of looking at it.

I get what you are saying about the second one but I feel like we need to see a pic of it on your hand to determine if this will be a problem!

I think the first one has great finger coverage and is beautiful! Nothing wrong with a classic design, there is a reason why they are so popular.

Are you tempted to try something different with the vintagey swirls? The colour of the ruby is very strong so it will still pop out against the shank I think! If it was like pale pink or something I would consider it more of an issue.

The stones and the rings are in HK so no chance of trying them on.

I just asked if they could switch halo nono. 1 onto ring 2 shank but with an open basket so as not to darken the stone too much after setting. They have to consult the factory on this technical challenge

I want everything! But I'm not sure if I will buy/ be able to buy more rubies during my time here. This one, low by Western retail, is still pretty pricey by my stds, esp with the rising usd.

So I want to make each setting count.

I'm also checking on alternative earring designs that could fit my pink sapphire pair other than the flower diamond jackets. I will also get the flower jackets separately as they would look awesome with most of my studs!
