Bluegemz I almost bought the necklace to reconfigure it into 2 bracelets until I got sidetracked by the following.

2.22ct peach spinel with an orange feather at the edge so it throws orange at the outer edges at certain angles. 50 bux because it's old stock and also it has a small window. I'm going to put it in a cheap sterling silver ring and it will go into my spinel BTY necklace project when I have enough of them.

1.01ct neon orange pink sapphire and 1.58ct blue sapphire fresh off a trader that just returned from Mogok this very morning. Still under negotiation. Unheated/untreated. You can see the windows and the blue has inclusions at the surface. But the colours are lovely. The pink is really that neon. Daylight washes out the colour in the photo somewhat. 20170930_132440-1.jpg 20170930_132446-1.jpg 20171001_143000-1.jpg 20171001_143320-1.jpg 20171001_143331-1.jpg 20171001_143351-1.jpg

Wow! Those would make a beautiful bypass ring too, even with the size difference. The smaller one could have a halo shoe theothet one diamonds down one side. Now I'm just imagining aloud.

I usually bring the stones I'm ready to set to play mix and match when the HK chaps come with their boxes and boxes of various settings. Somehow you just know when it's right and see it in front of you.

I have a bypass ring design in mind! But I need more or less equal stones in the 1 to 1.5ct range. They have to be close because I'm a Libran

Ah! My 17 year old daughter is also! That makes sense about the equality lol.

I made payment and brought home the gemstones and jadeite today. They all tested unheated, untreated and type A at the local lab. The gemologist took 2 days to deliberate whether to call it a pink sapphire or ruby lol and went ahead with the latter.

My jewellers threw in a silver CZ with silver Burmese 20171007_132749-1.jpg 20171007_152408-1.jpg 20171007_152419-1.jpg SSP brooch for me as a birthday present.

It struck me as I was taking the photos, that these are the Big 4 to purchase in Burma lol. Ruby, sapphire, jadeite and South Sea pearl. Not the trade ideal colours, but I still love them.

The corundums :)
The jadeite will depend on whether there's a stock setting that fits or else I will KIV that for later.

Had my Ethiopian opal set into a sterling silver bezel setting by the local bench and they did a good job this time. I might get the bezel plated yellow or rose gold later on for more contrast and to highlight the opal's play of colours.

Moving onto spinels, these 6 pale greyish pink Mogok spinels are also fresh off a trader. 4 are over 2ct and 2 are just under. They reminded me of pink ice  more pink in daylight and they take on a purplish tint under white led. I'd like to set them as dangling earrings and will hunt around for inspiration photos. 20171008_151731-1.jpg 20171008_160251-1.jpg 20171008_195308-1.jpg 20171008_195326-1.jpg

These 2. As they were all part of a lot. They look better in daylight :) 20171008_201036-1.jpg 20171008_201354-01-1.jpg

10.75ct cushion Mogok moonstone at a decent price. White with light blue sheen and a transparent yellow base. Clean except for 2 small dots on the base. Another new stone to add to the Mogok collection :) 20171010_111012-1.jpg 20171010_110924-1.jpg 20171010_110927-1.jpg 20171010_110938-1.jpg

@Burmesedaze , I just spent the last few days going through your collection and it is GORGEOUS!

Would you mind sharing your Hong Kong setting guys info? We are headed that way and would like to look at having some settings made :)

Thank you. You can find them here http://www.hugorich.com/contact.htm
But do note that their factories are in China so will take some time to customise and set them!

Thanks @Burmesedaze. I am just terrified that once I get there (we are headed to Bangkok as well, where I heard that gems abound?? Hopefully won't get scammed), I might go crazy and end up buying way too much...especially when I have been drooling after some of your icy jadeite earrings!!

Bought another moonstone online. 18ct :) to be sent from the Mogok based trader.

Vendor's photo. I think it looks like a good size for a pendant. Screenshot_2017-10-23-13-58-00-1.png

I checked out the jewellery and gems fair in Singapore today. Not as much variety as the one held a few month earlier.

Bought an 18" 18k rose gold chain made in Singapore that's quite a bargain. Also picked up a baguette diamond 18k white gold bangle to go with my CS rings. Got free sizing up thrown in :) 20171027_183524-1.jpg 20171027_183656.jpg IMG-773289c75f12ce1ac5ff2690880ca407-V.jpg

Omg! That’s going to really highlight your CS with light and sparkle! I love it! You can also wear it with a jade bangle. Would bring just that extra fun to it. Congratulations!

The Mogok Moonstone arrived in Yangon today at my jewellers'. Looks good, clean and has a high dome. Can't wait to get back to the city to check on it.

Picked up these 2 rings today. A Malaya garnet from ACS Gems and a 2.x ct peach pink spinel with an orange feather from a few weeks back.

Sterling silver settings plated rose gold and don't they look good? Each ring cost just us$7!

These are just really beautiful ! The spinel especially just the Perfect pinkish peach.

Can’t believe the settings are only 7 dollars! Local jeweller ?

I checked out the singapore fair today. I got a few good contacts of jewellers I think I can go to regularly in SG.

Also checked out the bracelet you got in person. It is to die for!

These are made in China settings that they bring in in bulk from the border. Makes you wonder how much the actual mfg cost is, isn't it?

You may want to check out the Bangkok fairs when they come about. There's more variety and exhibitors. The budget flights are frequent between Sg and Bkk and very affordable!

Damn I just booked a flight to Phuket instead couple of days back.

Anything good there? It’s close enough to Bangkok to have a Good jewellery scene I hope.

I brought home my light blue Mogok star sapphire. Unfortunately, the Facebook purchase for the small 3ct darker blue star sapphire 20171029_222126.jpg didn't go through as my jeweller was too late to message on the purchase.

As well as these 2 spinels that are 3.6ct and 3.95ct.

Also bought a few more cream SSPs to make a 9 pearl necklace and 3 for a bracelet.

Sent the large Mogok moonstone for repolishing as it had some light polish scratches.

Bought a 1.61ct pink sapphire on Etsy.

Ok I'm going cold turkey for a while unless a really really good deal comes along :)

Ooh, love your gems, especially your star sapphire! Sorry that you lost the other but this one is lovely! Any plans for it?

I’m trying to be disciplined too and it’s very hard because I’m working on setting things, which is expensive......sigh.

I forgot to tell you, I checked the gem fair but no icy jadeite in sight. Will do the b&m stores when I'm back end Nov again.

That star is going into a ring for sure. Probably this setting. The HK guys will be here next month so I get to play mix and match soon :) received_1508132479243198-1.jpg
