Hi all! :wavey:

I am in love with AVCs but I have yet to see one in person. In the mean time I am looking for a setting to show my boyfriend as an example of what I like.

White gold or platinum
LOW stone setting
NO pave or other sparkly bits

I have been looking at tapered shanks.

I prefer to have a substantial 'base' under the diamond (donut?) I like a lot of surface area under the stone to keep the diamond faced up nicely.

Am I asking too much? lol

Welcome to PS! AVCs are indeed wonderful, you should take a look at https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-avc-avoec-diamonds.123446/ I think what you are looking for is definitely possible and will look great.

ecf has a beautiful 1.43 G SI1 in a tapered JbEG setting https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-match-made-in-heaven-avc-and-jbeg.160298/

shimmer 1.09 L VS1 https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/rings-including-new-gog-omc-gog-transitional-and-others.122933/#post-2148529#p2148529

supers has pave and is yellow gold but gives you a good picture of how the tapered shank looks coming up to the AVC https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/finally-more-photos-of-the-avc-ring.151386/

You can see many more in that first thread I linked! So look through and see if you have any ideas for settings...if you get the setting through GOG too that will help make it easier if you get both stone and setting all in one place because it's one less place to have to ship it to in order to have it set.

What is your guys budget for the AVC? What size would you like to shoot for?

Also, even though you and your BF are already in the ring-searching stage, you should join us over in the LIW forum! https://www.pricescope.com/forum/ladies-in-waiting/ :wavey:

Thanks for all the examples in one place!
I have been stalking the AVCs since Christmas especially sparklecastles. ( i look at it a few times a week lol ) The top view on it is perfection! I see that nadiamo's has a bigger underside that is a donut right? I like the simplicity of the basket in that setting.

Mark Morrell (think I spelled it right) has a setting he calls BT but I've only ever seen it on his website and again the base is kinda smallish.

I use my hands a lot so I like my jewelry pretty minimal.
Of course the big AVC with graduated French cuts I've seen around here are mesmerizing! They are so fluid across the top of the hand. But waaaay to blingy for me I think even if I could afford it. XP

you're welcome! I had fun looking through myself :naughty: do you want a setting with a big donut? this will prevent you from being able to wear a wedding ring (that isn't curved or contoured) to sit flush next to your e-ring. which is perfectly acceptable, I just want to ask why you have a preference for a large donut. you can have a simple basket without a big donut.

I don't recall of a setting referred to as BT...perhaps PT? petite torchiere? here is a list of his settings...http://www.mwmjewelry.com//Prices/Index.html

Duh I should have mentioned- i will not be wearing a wedding band with it.

My first engagement ring was very slender and tall and, long story short, the marriage didn't go so well and I actually put on enough weight that it got stuck on my hand. So my finger does not have a lot of cushion and I bruised the bone a lot catching the ring on things. I guess the easy thing to do would have been to get it cut off but I was too miserable to care. Lol

Anyway! Life is much better!

I wish I liked bezels more but they aren't as striking as the four prong.

My ring got posted above (thank you for thinking of mine!). I love my setting - it's so delicate but sturdy at the same time. I haven't had any problems with it, and it keeps the diamond securely in place, while by design the setting still allows me to get a really small cotton swab inside to actually wipe the pavillion mains when I clean it so there are no pesky water spots. :)

eta: I don't wear a band with mine either.

Ecf- I forgot that yours has such a pretty curl on the shank. The diamonds in the basket look like the seam in a perfect little diamond pillow!

That split curl would be a good alternative to a donut. I wonder if sits lower without the diamonds in the basket.

The setting was custom made for my stone by JbEG, and they can adjust the proportions any way you like with the CAD program prior to fabrication.

You're very welcome ecf!! Thanks for posting your rings in my thread too, they were extremely helpful and were on the top of my personal memory back!

Isn't JbEG still not doing custom settings for the time being?
