I may be changing my settings!

I am sooo glad you are probably going to keep the current settings! I think you''ll be so glad you did! What about setting some other kind of gemstone in the halo setting? It could be a light colored stone and you could wear it on your left or right hand depending on your mood! I love the idea of having an alternate e-ring! In fact, I think a lot about setting a colored stone in the VC setting that I love (except we are expecting our daughter to get engaged in the near future, so I have to be thinking of a wedding budget instead of jewelry!)

You obviously could get another H&A stone elsewhere to put in the halo setting later if you really wanted a diamond in it.

I guess the price difference may also explain why so many still love your existing set - it is rich in diamonds and bling!

Would it be possible to use the studs and other jewelry to upgrade your center stone a bit - enough to get past the DSS? Maybe not, but just a thought! I get the sense that if you could increase the size on the center stone that you would be perfectly happy with your current set. I know upgrades in that size are astronomical but you never know. Sounds like your jeweler really works with you for you to get the best deal and in the current economic market, maybe he would work a bit harder!

Just random thoughts - I hate to see you disappointed. Keeping fingers and toes crossed that it all works out the way you want it to!
The next step up would cost a little over 10k. I don't know if I could bring it down enough to be doable

I was hoping not to have spend much, if anything to change the setting. DH offered to pay for the new set, but I have refused. I don't need two wedding sets. If I can't make this happen on my own, I think I'll pull the plug on the project
8.gif
Just curious - what size stone would that get you?
It would get me a 1.82ct. The problem is they can't seem to locate another GSI1 for me. So I would be going up in clarity and/or color and paying dearly for it! I still don't regret going into the brand. With all my futzing around, I really need to work with a local jeweler with the patience of a saint
17.gif
Wow - that is quite a jump in price! You hate to have to pay for color and/or clarity upgrades that aren't really necessary. Maybe their inventories are low now too due to the economy. If the halo doesn't work out for you for some reason, maybe they could find you a G SI1 somewhere down the road!
They seem to be keeping their inventories low due to the economy, especially in the larger size stones. Apparently, a lot of the diamonds are going to Japan; hence, the desire for a halo

Well I, like everyone else, think your rings are lovely as is! And I certainly wouldn''t wanna pay 10K to get the 1.8
23.gif
Yikes!

A test run sounds like a fab idea. Glad you have that option. The way I wear my rings I don''t think that much pave would be practical for me but I adore the look & ooomph of a halo. Have fun w/the trial! With that gorgeous stone its hard to go too wrong, yanno?
I knew going into HOF that my bank account was in danger

I''ll be picking up the "test" ring tomorrow. I plan to have fun with it--visit the supermarket, Lowes, hang out on the deck, try to get fire shots to please Miss Ellen--the whole deal. Pics will be forthcoming!

I decided that I just couldn't part with my current settings! I will have options for gemstones for either setting. I just louped some of my older rings and was shocked to see how poorly they've aged. I'm going ask my jeweler to take a look at them. My first e-ring, from my ex, was an emerald. If looks hazy and/or scratched and has a sizeable chip. I will need to go over to the Colored Stones thread for advice, before choosing another gemstone
6.gif
I may be making an insurance claim on the damaged stone. My sapphire also has some surface scratches and hazinessl, which truly surprised me. I'll have to see if it needs to be polished or recut. Oy, what a day

Haha!

RS, I''d probably go with sapphires due to the durability issues if it was me. Even then, you see that they can show wear over time. You really have to baby jewelry to keep it in top condition.

Ladies!!! I just got home

It''s not the best time for taking pics, but I''ll do my best! I should have better ones tomorrow. Geez, can''t a girl take a potty break

This is the best I could do for late in the day. Keep in mind that the ring is not sized to my finger...

My jeweler examined my gemstone rings. The sapphire will be sent out for repolishing and some recutting, if needed. She said it was a beautiful stone and she loved the color. The emerald is done for. The chip is huge and the entire stone is damaged. I''ll be calling my insurance company on that one. I will be louping my gemstones regularly and treating them with more TLC. I''m very fussy with my jewelry and am just so shocked that this happened.

Wow, that certainly is a stunning ring RisingSun!

It certainly is a gorgeous ring, risingsun. Did it make your heart sing?

Sounds like it is THE ONE!!

It is a gorgeous ring - do you think you like it better than the old set - or is it too soon to tell?

I''d hate to be making this decision!!

They are very different and I like them both. I''m leaning toward the halo and having my sapphire put in my original setting. I have the halo until Wednesday when they pry it off my finger

Is the stone in this ring the same size as your center stone?
