I don''t think i really have an answer to this question because i have a lil e-ring and i still get scared that someone will chop my hand off and sell it

I''d be quite content wearing Ames luscious lemon!!

*blush* Awwwwww... Uppy - you are so sweet :) Come play with me :)

I would probably never go larger than 1 ct.

2 ct tops, anything larger to me just looks to over the top...but then again i said that about a 1 ct till i got one....lol

5 carat RB would probably be the tops for me. But, I would hate if people saw it and thought it was fake though.

Though part of me says give me the 20 carat rock and I''ll make my self wear it.

I''d love to rock a big diamond on a regular basis!

That being said, too big is when all you see is the stone from the top view. I think that just looks silly, and not at all elegant. How much would that weigh? I have no idea.

Hmmm, I have a ring that is a 3 ct cushion cut yellow sapphire with side diamonds that definitely is big and bold and I wear on special occasions. I also have a colleague with a round brilliant 2.5ish carat solitaire that just seems ginormous so I would say between 2-3 carats depending on the cut. For everyday wear maybe something in the 2ct range would take daily wear and tear.....

I have very small fingers - size 3 and I have been wearing a 4.19 stone for 12 years. It looked really big when I first started wearing it at age 32, but I am so used to it now that I have add a larger halo so it feels bigger. I am very comfortable with it, and I don''t really concern myself with how big my friends stones are, etc. I wear what I wear to make ME happy. So many people worry about what their friends wear and they dont'' want to "stick out in the crowd" but I think you should wear what you are comfortable with. If I worried about my diamond being bigger then my friends than I would wear a stone much smaller than I like. I also notice that so many people think if your diamond is large that most people will think think it is fake. Most of us that "know diamonds" can easily tell a fake versus a real diamond. They really do look very different. In the years that I have been wearing this diamond, I have only had abut three people think it is fake because of the size. People that are really "into diamonds" can tell it is real. And in the end, all that really matters is that I am happy with it and I wear it well and I get a ton of compliments on the stone because it is gorgeous and even though it is big (although there are plenty that are bigger!) it is so sparkly that it surely doesn''t look like a CZ! Which I can tell from a mile away and I think most pricescopers can too!

Please forgive any typos it''s been a long rough day and I''ve had a couple of cocktails to take the edge off!

I think 2.5 is where I''d start to feel pretty uncomfortable wearing it on a daily basis, and I definitely wouldn''t be interested in anything over 3. I have a 1ct princess on my size 6.75 finger right now.

I don''t think I will go over 8 mm for every day wear. Most comfortable will be under 7 mm but I will have to start getting used to bigger. My new diamond is potentially on the way .. woo hoo.

After trying on a variety of sizes at Richter's in Maui, I think a 2.5 ct. Asscher or 3 ct. emerald cut would be the biggest I could wear on a daily basis without completely knocking it around. I'm a super klutz, so it would also have to be bezeled, which adds some size.

For daily wear, maybe 1.5-2 cts if I''m pushing it, 1ct is probably more realistic.

It''s really hard to tell because I''ve never tryed on anything that big so I don''t know what would look too big on my size 8 finger. Where I live, 1/2 a carat is pretty big so it wouldn''t be difficult to feel out of place with a 2ct sparkler on your hand. I''m also 20 so anything large people would think it''s a fake which would probably piss me off.

But for very special occasions, I''d have the biggest, sparkliest, rarest fancy coloured diamond money can buy!

I wear my 2.36 RB every day and would easily, happily, gleefully, delightfully, ecstatically, enthusiastically, and unreservedly wear a (ideal-cut, of course!) 5 carat RB, no problem!!!

Ohdearlord, I''m getting faint-headed and hyper-ventilating just thinking about it.

*sticks head in paper bag and takes deep breaths*
I think Lynn expresses my sentiment very pricesely!

But that''s for a RB though. I''ve been day-dreaming about a HW or a Cartier 6 or 7ct EC. The other day, I was in HW and tried on an 8ct EC. Oh my Lord, I almost fainted from excitement!!

For a yellow diamond, I could easily go up to 9-10ct.

I agree, cut is important. I could rock a larger emerald cut (ala Diamondfan!)...hence why I am lusting over that 3ct Harry Winston on Ebay (if only I had 70K laying around...). My husband says "Isn''t 1 1/2 carats enough?!", I reply "it could always be bigger" (obviously, I am half kidding...or am I?

2 carats is about the limit for me.

In Europe, my current 1.5 carat is as big as I want to go at my age. Already I don''t wear it every day because it stands out so much.

In NYC? Different story. 3 carat, probably.

I currently have a 2.35 carat and if money were no object I would say in an RB between 4-5 carats. I will be living on the North Shore so it wouldn''t feel like its too much. Part of me, instead of a solitaire, would love a shared prong 4.5 ct. total weight eternity band. That would be fun!

I haven''t tried on big diamonds to know how big is too big for me, but my ring size is a 4 and I wouldn''t want anything that would cover my entire finger. So maybe that''s 3 carats? 4 carats? That''s my limit for a ring.

Necklace, earrings, and bracelet I have no limits
9.gif

4 cts round, fancy shape no limits in weight.

Around here 2 carats (maybe 3 if its a cut that doesnt show size) would be my max. The average size around
here seems to be less than 1 carat. My wedding set totals 2 carats and sometimes I feel a little self conscious
wearing that.

No bigger than 2.5 carats for a round brilliant.

I have a fake 4 carat Diamonique ring, and it looks silly on me when I wear it, like a cocktail ring.

Isn't there some sort of guide, a carat per ring size? Which means my size 9 fingers get a 9-carat (ideal) rock?
31.gif

No, seriously, I would probably max out around a stone the lovely Harriet's size (3ish carats, if I recall correctly?)...maybe a touch bigger since my fingers are enormous and hers are tiny and dainty, but that equivalent look is what I'd probably want--classy and beautiful.

Nothing is too big for me.
2.gif

I think it also has to go with how the rock is set too... There are pretty gaudy settings out there... Simple is classy and make a big rock stands by itself in all of its glory... That might be why I am not into cocktail ring look... I think too big if when you cannot function wearing a ring on a day to day basis...

For me, a bigger size diamond look dynamite in a fancy shape... As for rounds, I woldnt fo over 5CT -

All of the rings here are so pretty and tasteful!!!!

Ditto this, I''m younger and just starting out in my field. My .8 carat diamond on my size 5.5 finger has already attracted crazy amounts of attention, people in this neck of the woods just don''t wear big rings or diamond jewelry in general. In addition to the clumsy consideration, it just wouldn''t be culturally comfortable for me to wear anything bigger than a carat.

I would take a ginormous fancy colored for special occasions though! Probably pink, it''s my favorite color.

I love my ring - but I think I love yours more! My husband would kill me if he knew that. I actually showed him your ring this morning! I am really loving pears again. My original ring was a 1.57 pear which was traded in for the 4.19 round. But I am in serious lust with your ring - the color is perfect and I love the halo! Are you still thinking about resetting it?

I really need to post some more of my jewelry, but I am so lazy about taking pictures...

With an unlimited budget, I''d love to say, "The sky''s the limit!!" However, I think I''d draw the line at needing a personal hand carrying assistant...yeah, that''s when it''s too big

Wow!! I am touched by your kind words about my yellow pear. Thank you soooo much :) I love it too, I just cannot believe how lucky I am to be able to wear this magnificent stone with my everyday. I am seriously one lucky gal. I appreciate all the sacrifices I did to save for this ring ( took me about 20 years tucking away $80-$100 a month in a special account ) so now, when I look at it I see much more than just a stone, it''s hard to describe the feeling... i guess a sense of dedication and achievement is what I could describe. I don''t plan on resetting it for a while, and may actually leave it as is, I am growing into loving its setting actually.

But please, do not deprive us from holding back on your lovely ring and jewelry, I''d love to see more pictures of your beautiful halo, it is totally gorgeous and you know, i am not really into rounds much, but yours took my breath away ( i just visited your RB reset ). It''s so gorgeous and so at home on your hand. I read of your health issues, and I hope you are doing good Dear. I hope we keep in touch and you post more on this board...

Hugs to you Sweetpea.
