What is the largest diamond you would feel comfortable wearing as often as you wear your current main diamond - given your present life, family, friends, neighborhood, and job.
(I'm not asking what you can afford, assume it is just paid for by someone else tax-free to you.)

1 ct?
2 ct?
3 ct?
4 ct?
5 ct?
6 ct?
7 ct?
8 ct?
Larger?

My current main diamonds are 6.39 for my EC and 6.89 for my RB. I wear one of those on a daily basis. I guess I would go up to 20ish carats - probably in an EC or cushion.

I don't have a diamond yet, but given that I'm pretty petite and I look really young, I think the absolute max I'd feel comfortable with is 2 ct.

That is a question my BUDGET would never get close to me asking.

Okay given that this was a lottery present with not taxes. . . what is the largest diamond you'd feel comfortable wearing?

How big is TOO big?

everyday wear probably somewhere around 6 carats, special occasion wear I''d say up to 12 or so

i wear a 5.13Ct now and my finger size is 5.25. its big enough, anything over 6CT would totally look obscene / ridiculous on my little retarded hands!

I'd say 3.5-4 for a rb. I wouldn't want to stick out too much, KWIM?

Not my criteria but the Mrs:

For a single piece of jewellery; 2ct maximum for special occasions and 1ct for everyday wear.

Up to about 5ct total weight of all items being worn at one time (e.g. earrings/pendant/rings).

Colour/clarity probably averages F/VS1 - since that has quite an effect on the total value of the item.

At current prices; probably not more than about £10000 ($15000) for a single item and mostly around £5000 ($7500).

Too much sparkle will get you noticed very easily and that might not be a good idea. Even the Mrs' 1ct pendant and 2x0.5ct earrings often cause the clothes/shoe shop assistants to stare.

2 ct is too big around here unless you are some old rich Grannie.

In an asscher or emerald cut, 5 cts. In a RB, 4 cts.

ditto... I wouldn''t want to attract attention, well too much where I would feel as if I needed my own body guard

I''d be quite content wearing Ames luscious lemon!!

2 ct would do for me. I would not want to stand out or be flashy. Also, as a stay at home Mom I would not want to accidently knock out one of my kids with my large diamond....LOL...

I have short fat fingers plus a lot of times I don''t wear makeup or dress up. However, my sister says I clean up well. ;-)

I wouldn''t want to go over 5 carats. Of course while we are dreaming, it would be of the highest quality.

Hey I am still working on upgrading my 1 carat to the 2 carat range.

ha, that was funny

On a ring, I probably wouldn''t want to go about 5 ct., just for practical wearing-it-everyday reasons. For a pendant? Sky''s basically the limit ....

For everyday 3 is probably my absolute max and that would be in a step cut of some kind...2 is probably a more comfortable size for me.

1 ct. round brilliant. I''m petite and a minimalist. . .I''d feel uncomfortable with a huge rock on my finger.

(okay, I see this is given as a lottery present. . .I''d ask for the 8 ct and then trade it in for a bunch of smaller stones!)

For free..... any size is welcome.

I would love to have a RB ring that''s 4 or 4.5 carats, and I would feel very happy to wear that every day, and 5 carat cushion (my e ring is a 2.55 carat cushion) or radiant for special occasions.

My wedding ring is a shared setting eternity band which totals 1.6 carats, so is small, delicate and beautiful (and currently missing a stone -

- but that''s another post) but would eventually like a Daniel K cushion eternity band, set with 12 x 0.81 carat stones. Yum. That would only come out at night, I think.

As for earrings, well, my mother wears 3 carat (total weight) studs and they are beautiful... so would not go bigger than that.

Would quite like a 2 carat rb pendant given the choice. Having said that, when I got married 2 weeks ago my mother gave me a T&Co diamonds by the yard pendant which is 0.33 carats (single stone) and is so lovely that I never want to take it off. So size isn''t everything.

Finally, I would LOVE a necklace of RBs, each around 1.5 carats - something really simple, but pretty spectacular.

This was a lot of fun to think about!!

Honestly, i wouldn''t wear more than a one carat around every day. However, I''d let you give me a bigger diamond to wear for special occasions! I have a 5 or 6 carat blue topaz ring which looks good on my fingers because its not a round--I can''t wear too big of a round with my fingers (it''s a pear in a simple setting). So I might let you get me a 5 or 6 carat pear for parties or weddings or formal occasions.

I already have had 1.81 ctw studs and they''re big enough. I might let you get me white flash jackets for special occasions.

So far as a pendant, I don''t know. I don''t have a lot of occasions where I could wear, say--what was that thing that Liz Taylor had around her neck? the Taylor Burton or whatever? I don''t think I''d wear more than about 2 carats in a pendant everyday--if you wanted to buy me something to put around my neck for parties, I''d like a diamond riviere.

What I''d REALLY like though, if someone was going to give me amazing bling for free (including tax free) and I had the money to insure it and the guards with guns to walk around with me, and all of that other stuff--I wouldn''t really go for a giant solitaire. I''d like a fabulous art deco piece. Either a pair of diamond clips from Cartier or Van Cleef and Arpels, or one of those wonderfiul Vc & A bracelets with all the calibre cut diamonds and other precious stones that looked like Egyptian art, Japanese art and so forth. Or maybe one of the VC & A ballerina brooches from the 40''s where the ballerinas have diamond skirts and diamond faces. I woiuldn''t even have to WEAR something like that. Just own it and take it out to admire how beautiful it was in private, like every night.

For me 2 ct max for everyday and that is pushing it. I wore a 2ct fake marquise to see how I would like it and it drew so much attention by store clerks and the like that I wasn''t comfortable with that. I would like a 1.50 stone upgrade from a carat. I love to wear diamond jewelry and my husband teases me how many carats I have on with bracelet, earrings, necklace and rings - I will wear 10 carats at once no prob.

A 3ct RB would be nice...

I wear my 3 ct RB daily...I could easily go up to 5

I wear my 2.36 RB every day and would easily, happily, gleefully, delightfully, ecstatically, enthusiastically, and unreservedly wear a (ideal-cut, of course!) 5 carat RB, no problem!!!

Ohdearlord, I'm getting faint-headed and hyper-ventilating just thinking about it.

*sticks head in paper bag and takes deep breaths*

Right now Ebay has a 3ct Emerald Cut Harry Winston I am TOTALLY LUSTING over...

For me anything over 4cts would be too big for my every-day life...I work at a public university as a counselor/instructor...

1.5 would probably be the max for me. I could do a 1 ct with a halo. The issue more is how high the ring sits than how it looks on my finger. I need something that won''t get in the way of my job. The way I see it is big ring vs combative 2 y/o who thinks I am the enemy...eventually a 2 year old will win and do damage to a bigger ring.

8mm² looks good on me, how many carrots is that?
