That tsavorite is beautiful! The green is perfection.

I was pleased to read it was a long road in acquiring your special gems. So often I (and maybe others too) want to acquire as quickly as possible. Your beautiful collection is a good reminder that slow and steady is the way to go.

Thanks for sharing!

So sorry about your kitty.

Yes, it took quite a while to get these, especially the Tsav. I had the money in Paypal waiting until we could get the stone to the U.S. and man did it call my name. Buy this! Buy that! I'll admit that I took a tiny bit and bought Bitcoin for @Phoenix and I, sure that we would be Bitillionires overnight. LOL. THAT didn't work. :-o

@suzanne2 Excellent collection :geek2: I especially liked the tsavorite and spinel. Apart from the tsavorite, the other gems were in approximately the same color palette. Does the fact that I was drawn to the spinel more than the other four indicate that I have a preference for pear cut gems? :oops2:

Hey! No reason to be embarrassed! Lots of people here don't like the extinction you get with a pear but it doesn't bother me. Especially when I get a monster green pear!

The pear is non peareil! :)

Thanks Burmese, coming from you that's high praise.

While we wait for @LittleRed I thought I'd post my top five. My number one top top favorite is a 2.89 Tsavorite garnet that took almost 9 months to acquire. Bought from our own beautiful and talented @Phoenix and cut by Nomads. 20180608_080541.jpg 20180608_080208.jpg

I'll start a thread for it as soon as I save up some money...

The rest are in no particular order. I like them all

1.52 ct Rhodochrosite from Brad at The Gem Trader. This one is from China.

20180429_113014.jpg

2.31ct pink spinel from Dhillon Jewelry on Loupe Troop

20180521_122635_001.jpg

1.8ct pink sapphire from Sri Lanka. Not a great cut, but a beautiful color. I sent it to AGL because I bought it in Tuscon and wanted to be sure it was as described.

20180608_063948.jpg 20180608_064151_001.jpg

Another Rhodochrosite. 2.74ct from South Africa. Not a great picture.

20180204_110323.jpg

Here they are all together.

20180610_103532.jpg

It's been a long road acquiring all of these and I think I have a tiny addiction. I need a chapter of gemaholics anonymous to start up near me. :lol-2:

Suzanne!!! Will you belive that rhodocosite from brad - I was THIS close to purchasing it!!! I thought about it for a long long time, I can't remember now why I didn't pull the trigger.

What a lovely shock to see it here with you, couldn't have gone to a better home. Please may we have some more pics of it.. in all angles :twisted2:

It really is something... I love it :kiss2:

What plans do you have for it? Dare to set?

And I forgot to show one I'm really proud of. Since I can't afford a Burmese spinel of any significant size, I'm hoarding teeny ones. Such a stunning radiant color.

They are beautiful pinks! What are you planning to do with them?

Hey, I will get the pics in a few days. Do I dare to set it? I'm thinking DK has the bench to do it. It's soooo risky but that's ok. I'd love to have it in a ring but that's not possible. The color is to die for. What do you think about me buying another from Brad, a different shape but the same glow, and setting them in earrings?

Great thread! @Acinom, I’m flattered you used one of my photos! =)2
Everyone’s stones are so drool worthy!
Here’s my contribution:
5+ct sphere, that looks AWFUL in photos, but is a fireball IRL.
My monster 35ct morganite. No idea how I’m going to set it!
Blue-green bi-colour tourmaline
5.28ct tanzanite (in my display pic)
And a cushion tourm, which I plan on setting soon! :D
These are just off the top of my head, and from pics I already have. I’ll change my mind tomorrow...

Rubellite that’s around 4 cts cut by Lisa Elser, tsavorite from Gene that is 2.5 cts (I have a bigger, deeper coloured one from Prima but it’s more included), Tajik spinel from Gene that’s around 5 cts, mahenge spinel around 3.5 cts from Mayer and Watt, 5 ct pink sapphire with a deep belly that is from Gene but not cut by him (this one is okay in daylight but really comes alive at night), and 13.2 ct blue zircon from Roger Dery.

Those colours! Wow!!

I just love how unique these are! Each one has something which makes it special. That morganite is fabulous. What a great size. I can see it as a wonderful pendant on a long chain. I also love the sphene .

Those are all gorgeous! I’m trying to figure out what to do with my huge topaz. It’s hard to figure out what to do with big stones! I’m sure your morganite will look lovely once you set it. A pendant would work. I just set my spene in a pendant. Are you going to set yours? Yours looks beautiful. You are right, photos don’t do them justice. Please show us your tourmaline when you get it set.

Ok, just a complaint, but autocorrect needs to stop changing sphene to sphere!

Thank you! =)2 I had planned to have it as a pendant, but honestly it’s so deep I’m worried it would flip all the time since I’d essentially be wearing a ‘cube shape’ (if that makes sense!) Anyway, that’s very far down the line. Maybe I can steal some ideas from you when you set your topaz!

I think yours will require a lot of gold in the setting. Mine is far down the line as well. No matter what I do, it will have to be custom and due to its size, a lot of gold will be used. I’m thinking it will be expensive. I fell in love with it though and stared at it online every day for a month.

I love the emerald!

Thank you, Miki Moto! I’m thinking about sending it to David Klass. I found it on Loupe Troop and the color really sang to me. The seller said it was from the Muzo mine. I don’t have any papers on it, but maybe I don’t need them if you love it too! :D

I love the color. To me, your green comes to life and glows.

Do you always get stones certified? I usually only get certs for certain stones, typically the more pricey ones. Since being on PS though, it seems a lot of people get stones certified? Hmmm.... maybe I should rethink my strategy!

On your stone being Muzo, I am sure you know this already, but just in case... the cert will tell you it's from Colombia, but unless the stone is traceable to Muzo, AGL will not state that on their report. My emerald is also from Muzo (the dealer I purchased it from mostly does Muzo and a few Chivor). I asked AGL if they could put Muzo on the report, and that's when they told me they only do that for stones with traceable papers, or if I want to pay extra cost to have them investigate and trace, they can do that. I said no because I love my emerald and would keep it regardless. I completely trusted the dealer, and the only reason why I even got the stone certified was in case I wanted to purchase more stones from him as he a lot of bright green emeralds. wanted to be sure his stones were only minor enhancement as he he said. His stones were so pretty and I have never seen such a big batch of loose clear emeralds. I do plan to purchase a few more emeralds from him to match my current one (to make a parure), but I was not planning on going through the hassle to get those certified. But now, having wandered into this forum, hmmm... maybe I should certify more.

I can't wait to see how you set that emerald! I hope I find your thread when you post it. There are so many wonderful threads in PS I could spend months in PS non-stop and never get through.

I think I will hang out more on the Colored Gems forum... you ladies here have so many beautiful colorful stones and rings!

2. 3.26ct Heat only yellow sapphire
3. sold
4. 3ct Mahenge spinel from Primagems
5. 7.25ct Scissor cut blue zircon
6. 4.38ct Apessartite garnet from Primagems
7. 4.95ct greenish blue tourmaline
