I like that idea. I won't be sacrificing too much with a quality level of SI clarity and I color?

Besides the double vs single pave, what are the main differences between the Emilya and Anna Marie?

Ask victor how white facing the stone is and if it is eyeclean (which I assume it is, but always ask).

You could in theory get either ring made with a single row of pave or a double row of pave. I know he has made Emilya's that are both single row pave and multi row pave, and ones that are round with a round halo and ones that have a round centre stone that end up with a cushion shaped halo.

The Anne Marie is usually done with one single row of pave but I have seen ones with a cushion or a round and end up with the halo cushion shaped. He also does a one with a double halo of pave which is more like the ring you saw in the shop;

Double Anne Marie;

Here is a different design called the Donna, the sides are different but you can see the example of a round stone which is sitting in a cushion shaped halo;

He does the Emilya with a round centre stone that ends up with a round halo like Sox's ring, one with one row of pave with a round centre that ends up with a cushion shaped halo (no pic currently on his website) and another like TwoSanguineHearts ring which starts with a round shaped centre and ends up with pave on the top and going down the sides (as opposed to two lots of pave sitting next to each other like the double Anne Marie).

I hope that isn't too confusing. It's just a matter of looking at them all or asking Victor for some more pics and showing them to your g/f and finding out which one you both prefer. She might indeed have her heart set on a cushion shaped centre diamond for example, but if not then a RB in a cushion shaped halo (in any of his designs) is another way to achieve something similar.

I think the main difference is the shank, if you look the Emilya is a single shank. The Anne Marie is a single shank that splits as it gets near the head of the ring and the Donna is a split shank.

If you want to change the details of the ring to add a vintage feel to it, ask victor tell him which one you like generally and he will make suggestions.

I am guessing what you are after is either a cushion or a round shaped centre diamond in a cushion shaped single row halo which is what your g/f said she liked. Show her the different shanks in particular the single simple Emilya and then the shank of the Anne Marie and see which one she prefers.

The I color in a round not show tint when placed in either of the two settings in question, esp. if you'd like the Emilya with filigree the basket. This is because any tint would be seen when looking at the stone from the side. The sides will be almost totally covered from the girdle down. I wouldn't let that hinder me from getting a great stone.

As far as clarity, an eye-clean SI may as well be a VVS to anyone who doesn't know it's stats. Eye clean is eye clean. ::) I doubt VC would put his name on a stone that showed obvious inclusions, so I wouldn't worry about that either. ;)) The 1.7 I stone listed above is awesome - it would be a winner for me for sure!! Or, if you decide to get the setting that is a little less expensive (the Emilya < Anne Marie), then you may be able to get a little extra size in the diamond.

I don't care for the Donna at all. The split in the shank is too wide for my taste... it makes the center stone look smaller and the ring itself isn't as delicate-looking as the other two designs.

We could all go on and on explaining the difference in the designs and their variations, but it will just continue to be confusing. What you really need to do is have your FF look at all of them and decide which one she likes best. Here are the links (some have videos as well).

Any of these can have filigree added to the basket, any can have single or double sided pave, any can be altered to your tastes, ALL will be made specifically with your chosen diamond specs in mind (pave size, etc...).

The main difference: Anne Marie has a delicate split shank, while the Emilya has a single band. Either can be done with a double row of pave or even a double halo if you'd like...

This is getting redundant, but I hope this helps to have everything on one post... I think the first step is to see which design she likes better: the Anne Marie or the Emilya, based on the main design difference (the shank/band)... then you can look at altering it (extra pave, changing profile/basket, etc...). If you keep looking at all the minute differences, I'm afraid it will be confusing and ultimately make your decision much more difficult than is necessary. :halo: :))

Just know that you really can't go wrong with VC -- all of his pieces are great. =)
