Very pretty! What are your thoughts on it and vs the stone you traded in?

This one is definitely whiter. Not a whole heap - but you can see the difference between an H and an I. I can live with an H; I wanted to trade up from an I. The clarity looks the same - my VS2 was very clean.

One thing, tho, is I always dislike fluorescence. It always looks ever so slightly milky to me. My stone was, according to everyone - diamond specialists included - not milky. And you'd never have called it hazy or ANYthing like that. But I could see the difference, and I wasn't fond of it.

On the other hand, this was outweighed for me by GORGEOUS cut on my original stone, and the beautiful clarity of it; the light return etc was outstanding.

Had my stone been an H, I would never have traded it; it was the color most of all that made me think "I can do better...." The 3.4 I just bought is white, clean, clear, and a fireball from every direction. I do intend to trade up, tho. I'll turn 60 in a couple of years, and we'll probably kick it up a notch then.

It's gorgeous!!:love: I can't wait to see once it's set! I completely understand what you mean with the color. When I was shopping for my upgrade, I saw some beautiful super ideal stones at GOG and an I color was just too tinted *for me* to look at everyday. Outside and in most lighting they were white, but in pictures or in certain lighting the displayed the tint was too much. Jon even did a blind test with me trying to see if it was just in my mind but I picked out the I every single time!

This was a really great decision since you can upgrade at any time for any amount more without being bound to a new stone double in price! I am sure this one will be very beautiful...can't wait to see it set!

Thank you ladies - your help has been invaluable!

Nicholas, from Victor's office, sent me a photo last night of the round-with-pears he's made for me. I started a thread in SMTB just to gauge people's reactions to it. Here's the link:

@ac117 - I think you and I are on exactly the same page re color. I is great in some lights, but at certain angles, I can see it. I don't mind it on old or old-style cut stones (OEC's, AVR's, AVC's - even EC's, for example) - but in a round brilliant, where you're specifically after white-white twinkle - not so much. Larger faceted stones seem to me to handle warmth well. Just not rb's.

And thank you, @JDDN and @ILikeShiny - encouragement is worth a lot! I'm no further as yet on setting the 3.4ct stone; I go back to LA in 2 weeks and actually want to sit down with Amy and play with a few things before I fully commit. I also really DON'T want to ship that stone if I don't have to!! But the VC ring seems to be done (or very close) so that's one thing off the list. :)

Omg, you just put in to words what I felt but never realized the connection. I knew in SOME stones warmth didn't bother me, but not why. It totally has to do with the chunky cuts! :roll2:

You could play with it and the 15pts-ers, just to start somewhere ,-)

I'm pretty sure that I'll be doing the cluster. :) I meant to say that I wasn't any further in having it made...since it's still sitting on my desk! I do think it will go into the cluster - I just haven't sent it off yet. While I'm 900% sure on a cluster, 8% of me is still thinking 'solitaire'....

(...and 2% is thinking HALO!) :mrgreen2:

A cluster does not preclude a halo IHMO

[foraging for a certain style ...]

+

One way: WWW

- still thinking of all rounds. The weight is comparable & the style seems relatively subtle now.

Maybe he will put it on IG first?

Nope. So I think I'm just going to have to trust him. I think we were on the same page, tho. Fingers crossed, really.

Here's the Victor ring - I think he nailed it. And I suppose, so long as I think so, that's all that matters!

Very happy with how this turned out. :)

Thanks, @ILikeShiny @LLJsmom and @ac117 :wavey:

I'm pretty stoked about it, I have to say! I think the final proportions are perfect.

I'm still going back and forth re how to set the new 3.4ct ACA - cluster, halo, soli - but DKJ is working on a couple of projects for me right now, so when they're done I'll make a decision.

Today I had an appt and put on my new 7 stone ring, my cluster earrings, and my pave set diamond bangle - and I felt like a million bucks! THAT is the point of jewelry, I think. What a lucky girl I am!
