Duchess of Sussex

@missy

Much like the girls in Steel Magnolias, I wear makeup even sitting around at home. I would probably rather die than make a grocery run barefaced. Lol, I was raised in the ways of all good, vain Southern women! Kind of weird but I can't put on my jewelry until my makeup is done and hair is fixed. It's like my jewels deserve to look back at me put together!

Ok, I can't believe I just admitted that! :lol-2::lol-2::lol-2:

I totally get this. Raised for the most part in the south - my mother and aunts would NEVER leave the house with a pony tail or barefaced! I never go anywhere without shower, hair and makeup done. My jewelry goes on last too - I don't want to get it dirty with all the hair and makeup products! That's why I always work on a plan and a schedule - lol!

I guess I have to admire these young women who sign on for life with the royals. I could never do it - just too restrictive of a life and in a fishbowl to boot! I hope they both had more perspective on what they were signing up for than poor Diana did. Course if her marriage had been strong she probably would have fared better. Meghan has been an independent woman and I hope the adjustment goes well for her. Becoming a mother will add a whole other twist to life too and I think she will fare very well in that role.

She has to be admired for taking on the British establishment. Lets hope they and the press don't break her like they did to Diana.
I think she has the benefit of already having been in the public eye and seemingly "used to" paparazzi all over. But this is probably even more intense than she was already used to.

Dare I say many of them enjoy the spotlight? Not all of course but I do think she is not only used to it but probably enjoys it to at least some degree. She is/was in show biz after all. It attracts a certain personality.

I'm a trustee of a charitable foundation that is peripherally connected to a charity that she and Harry support. While I haven't met her, I have to say people are speaking very positively about her willingness to turn up without pomp or fanfare and roll up her sleeves and get involved. I'm not a huge royal family proponent- think in this day and age the whole thing is a bit silly. But she and Harry both seem to slip in and out quietly, so not just when there's publicity involved, and I have to say that there's nothing remotely glamorous involved in pitching in with this particular charity, so I give her points for that.

Since she is due at any time, let’s do a little baby Sussex pool. Winner gets bragging rights

When will Baby Sussex be born?

Boy or girl or twins (then say what you think each twin will be)?

What hospital?

My guesses

Thursday, April 18

Girl

I think she will go Lindo. (The one everyone else except Sophie went to]

Ok I'll play.
4th May - that's my birthday!
Girl
Hospital near Windsor - not Lindo

I really thought she’d have had the baby by now, she looked like she was sporting a bump mid October which should have made her around 16 weeks then. I guess it could be twins! I wonder if she’s going to try having the baby without any fanfare then announce it later? I did read that she wasn’t keen on having to appear on the steps of the hospital, looking perfect directly after the birth, a la Kate.

My guess? Later this week, girl, no idea which hospital! (with Kate, we even knew who her obstetrician was, Meghan has kept it all very quiet).

I think she looks like she’s carrying a girl. They’re saying the baby will be born at our local hospital, Frimley Park (which isn’t in Windsor, it’s in Frimley :D)

If it’s a girl, I think one of her 4 names will be Diana.

I’m saying Tuesday, 23rd, which is St George’s Day, but we won’t hear about it straight away, unless, of course the Press are camped out and see them arriving.

Can’t understand why they’d chose Frimley Park, I wouldn’t go there out of choice.

I think the baby is already here. I’m surprised at the announcement from BK. Meghan loves the attention. Why would she hide away with her new baby?

I’ve read they want time alone with their baby before announcing it, and Meghan didn’t want to appear perfectly coiffed and made up (like Kate) after just giving birth. Who knows how true any of these reports are?

I think she’s definitely pregnant— she has gained weight and has back end spread too.

It could be many things— maybe they have been getting threats— Harry was in the Middle East and also this baby is the first mixed baby in a long time for the royal family.

Standing on the steps— sitting ducks.

I think the decision is very understandable. They are after all not the future King and queen. Having lived through all the negative media stories they know they can't win either way - looking perfect à la Kate would spark negative comments as well as looking natural would. So it's a good choice to not play the game and get the same negative commentary minus the stress..

What you wrote made me feel quite sorry for The Duchess of Cambridge. I realize that she signed up to be the wife of the heir to The Prince of Wales, but having to look perfect right after giving birth is cruel and unusual punishment.

DH took a pic of me after having our son. He sent it to quite a few people, not being mean - he was genuinely proud. I almost got a divorce lawyer!!!

Oh, yeah, after my first, I look just like my grandma. It was frightening to see lol. (We’re talking old, disabled lady in house dress with wet hair). I had had fever etc and I was all out of sorts.

I can understand perhaps the risk factor standing publicly on steps to show off bub or perhaps just that the Press have been horrible lately so I probably wouldn't want to play by their rules either... :snooty:

It’s a blunt, unflattering assessment of the post-birth stage, but this made me chortle this morning!

I don't know if this has already been mentioned but I think another reason they want privacy and don't want to pose immediately after birth is to delay all of the stupid that will ensue about whether or not the baby exhibits more of its black parentage than its white parentage. Considering the ugly comments about Meaghan's race from her engagement forward, it's understandable that they wouldn't want to hear that sort of garbage about their babe before they even get a chance to get home from hospital.

That had not occurred to me.

There is a twitter account called torontopaper1 that is so flipping creepy AF about Meghan, that I reported it to Twitter (likely won’t do any good) and would be reason alone for me to not stand on any steps with my baby.

And that is only one creepy, degranged psychopath. I’ll bet this is all for safety reasons.

That is so sad. I can't imagine the life.
