Nice star. How about the transparency?

How much percentage discount can you bargain in Myanmar in general?

We are trying to ask the trader in Mogok if we can view it in Yangon before deciding. If I don't want it after viewing, just reimburse delivery fees.

If the starting price is not too bad maybe 20%. If it's obscenely high, anything is possible. A lot of them don't want to sell reasonably to foreigners.

I go via my jewellers as the gobetween.

That is such a sweet, raspberry star! Hope it looks great in person too. It has a lovely ‘presence’ in the pics. Would make an adorable star ring!

Oh @burmadaze I feel like I am living vicariously through you! I was in Macy's w. My mother in law yesterday and pfft if dumb curiosity I asked about a "75%" off ruby ring sand almost passed out from sticker shock!

The stone I was looking at was terrible! So dirty looking And the melee were misshapen....i really need to plan a Burma trip!

Collected these 2 water bottles made from river stone today. They have heft and are fairly heavy. Cool to the touch and with interesting patterns. You can use them for cool or room temperature water. Just us$16 each through my jeweller from the seller. A nonsense shop in Mandalay quoted me us$100 each!

Collected my pair of Mogok pink sapphires today. They are slightly purplish pink without flash and a lovely vibrant pink with flash. The sans flash photos wash out the colour slightly. Very happy with them as they are translucent.

I'm passing on the 3ct star ruby as the colour and gem don't speak to me. I left the lot of 30+ tcw small star sapphires with my jeweller to collect more pinks and purples for an eventual bracelet.

As for the jadeite seller, they got back with a cryptic response so we are passing on them *shrug*.

These are super cool! How much water do the stone canteens usually hold? And being made of stone are they super heavy? I think the idea's so neat, but wondering if something like this is meant to be decorative or a everyday use item.

Yes they are heavy. Probably better for use at the study table or office. We tried inverting them when full with water. The rubber stopper worked. Not a single drop dripped out!

Brought home these 2 jadeite necklaces today to compare with what I already have and to decide if I want them.

The equivalent of a return policy, no questions asked. Except I've not paid for them yet

Still very much trust based here!

I have a sneaking suspicion I may end up keeping both strands

If you only keep one, then my vote is for the blue strand. Very nice!!

Ooh gorgeous and I agree with @suzanne2. Blue is my vote if you can only keep one strand.

Thank you dear ladies! I think we are of the same mind and likes! The blue lavender strand grabbed my eye right off the bat. It is several times more expensive than the other strand but worth it I think

The pale white green strand has a lovely translucency and purity to it. Very affordable. I need to compare it with my other jade necklaces to see if it's too similar to what I already have.

Don't want to threadjack but...what does this mean? Am I really THAT old??

I think that's jealous :)

Yes and to expand upon that if someone is mad jelly that means they are very very jealous  and if I may add my own little saying here I enjoy the term I'm so jelly and peanut butter to mean wow that bling is good enough to eat! :halo:

@mellowyellowgirl

Here you go! All the greens and non-greens. Snapping them alongside made me come to the...realisation...that I need to destash. Maybe 1 strand from the trio of greens on the far right. I bought 3 of them together to wear as a long necklace as they are cut from the same boulder. But boy is jadeite HEAVY even at such sizes!!!

The blue lavender looks like it's from the same boulder as the lighter blue I already own so the lighter strand might get destashed too.
