This is my blue tourmaline. It is near eye clean or eye clean. It has some healed fractures. I love that the fact that your tourmaline is very clean.

Holy moly! That almost looks like a Paraiba! The color and cutting are amazing. Where did you find it (if you don't mind me asking)?

I got it from Jeff White.

Thank you everyone for the compliments on my pink tourmaline ring.

It is cloudy and snowing. I don't think I will get any good pictures today. I did take a near head on shot in a white box:

Wowza! This is a lovely setting for a gorgeous gem. I love the halo (obviously) and the swirly details on the profile. :kiss2:

How big is the tourmaline? It looks substantial.

And I thought I was super diligent checking his Facebook page!

NICE @Gemobsessed do you have setting plans?

No plans yet. I have about 4 stones to set before this one so maybe I will set this after two or three years . I keep accumulating pink gems based on what’s the secondary colour. This one is more reddish compared to others I own and I just wasn’t sure when I’d come by it again at a reasonable price. Prices soar every year!

I did a terrible thing!

I bought.....

6.25ct Tourmaline - Congo
11.11 x 7.46 mm

It's an asscher! And it's freaking green! I couldn't not buy it!

Now how to set it!!!

I have this idea for a 3 stone ring with pink garnets on the sides in rose gold. But I dunno if that would be too "colourful"

Or I can set it like my blue zircon ring with small diamond baguettes on the side.

Owww! A terrible thing indeed! Both the colour and the cut.
So excited for you!

At this size, I would probably not use colored side stones. With this colour and cut you do not need much else. A solitaire will be magic already, perhaps with pave in the shank

Thanks @Acinom! I do think you are right! The stone should be allowed to speak for itself! Solitaire with pave sounds divine actually!

I am wondering if I can get away with rose or yellow gold? I feel like I have too much white gold in the collection and want something different.

I hope you are all proud of me! For once the thought of a halo DID NOT even cross my mind! :cheeky:

@mellowyellowgirl : your stone will definitely work with yellow gold! Both 14k as well as 18k or 20k will work.
RG probably as well, but perhaps you could try different metal colours with your stone.

Good catch. I saw it earlier and wondered if any PSer would get it!

*GASP* Not even the thought of a halo? You're a wild woman!

Seriously though, this is freaking stunning! The color looks so rich and the proportions are certainly quite generous. I agree with @Acinom that this would make a gorgeous solitaire, ecpecially with a diamond pave shank. I can't wait to see your pics, once it arrives.

Fwiw, you might want to either ask TL or do a search here, as I believe she has at least one green and pink stone ring. =)2

I second the suggestion for a solitaire! Or you could do split shank w pave shank!

Ladies I need help! RG or YG for this ring?

I have asked Jeff to babysit the stone for me while I save some money before I ask him to set it. It will be set like this but with double claw prongs.

205499-850x850-asscher-cut-solitaire.jpg

I don't want to go through the process of having Jeff send me the stone and then me sending it back to him for setting so now I kinda need to wing it on the gold colour decision.

Any thoughts? I actually think it could go either way. The RG will be nice against the green as would the YG.

Haha at least I feel good because I actually have a solid plan to set this baby!

Rose Gold looks bad against my skin tone so of course I would go with Yellow gold. How does Rose look against your skin tone?

I took a break today and went on Dana's site. I saw a really nice bi-colored tourmaline (yellow and pink) which he said you "either love or hate." I started to think "Hmmmmm.......why does that seem so familiar to me?"

Then I remembered I bought a big old pink/yellow tourmaline from him years ago. I had forgotten about it. I think from memory it's over 4 carats. I found it in a plain white box in my jewelry box. :doh:I took a picture of it in the rain today.
