The one pictured is not one I'd personally consider as I would only consider one with a well defined and symmetrical facet pattern. I also think 1.43 ratio is too long and skinny. I'd stay in the 1.3 range, personally. Sorry, I just have to be honest.

Just wondering why you don't like the ratio? Is this guide any good?

I don't personally mind the ratio and I still consider the ASET good (on my giant screen at home there is a bit more white than I saw on my phone). You need to decide if you like it enough to have them ship it to you.

Found a few more radiants, JA will generally provide up to 3 ASET per email. So, ahm, you could ask for all three for the once I loved below if you have an additional email. Otherwise, 4679371 is the largest (weight and spread), 4679322 looks great in the video, but I'd personally be jumping for 4354317 (but I like antique cuts and unique stones).

No, that guide isn't any good. I think what matters more is the length of your fingers and how small they are. People with long skinny fingers may be able to handle a longer stone. But there are sometimes problems wearing a wedding band with long stones unless the setting is really made the right way. This goes for any elongated stone, not just asschers. To me, a stone with a lesser ratio will have greater width and makes the diamond look bigger than one that is narrow in width but taller. But unless you have access to a variety to try on, it is hard to determine your preferences on your hand.

@rockysalamander posted a stone I really love. To me it is modern, but it has that symmetrical facet pattern I spoke of, plus to me, it has a more flattering ratio. It's just a more beautiful stone in every respect to me. So many radiants are just flat topped, and this one has a lovely crown which is so much more pleasing to look at when your ring is at an angle.

So glad to get another positive vote. Its nice to have other veterans chiming in on this tough shape. I adore the 1.09 J VVS1. I'd totally snatch that one up too!

They reckon to not go lower than H. After seeing 4354317, I'm not as interested in 4991662 anymore though..

I've got small hands (ring size J) with regular fingers I guess (not particularly long, skinny fingers). I have tried a few rings on but there are not many without a halo around. I didn't feel like an emerald shape (about the same ratio as 4991662) was too rectangle, I guess that if you would go bigger in size (2ct+) it would make more of a difference?

Yes! The 4354317 is very different due to the crown. The 4991662 is quite flat in comparison. I didn't realise that it would make a difference when you look at the diamond from an angle. I would love to have a diamond with a lot of sparkle :D have to keep in mind that the side diamonds need to match as well though (JA said the side diamonds are G/H so you would see the difference with a J colour as centre diamond).

Only thing we are worried about is the J colour as we have been advised not to go any lower than H and the ring will be 18ct white gold. Is skin colour of importance?

I’m team 1.09JVVS. I understand the concern about the clash of color with the side stones, but, it’s Ex Cut, and has the more broad facet pattern across the stone I mentioned, a while ago.
It’s an amazing stone, in video. I’ll be shocked if the ASET comes back a dud.
If you fall in love with this stone, is there any way to change the setting choice?

Yes, the ring hasn't been made yet as I want to choose the diamond first :)

My recommendation is to go with what you fall in love with, and then worry about the setting, after you choose your diamond.
The last thing you want to do is to allow your setting to dictate your Centerstone.
 
I'm not really worried about the setting but I'm not too sure about the J colour as I've been told multiple times that I shouldn't go lower than H with a radiant cut. Especially not being able to return/exchange the diamond easily, I'm cautious. However, I really appreciate everyone's help :clap: and really like the 4354317. Hopefully the ASET comes through soon.

Of the two, I am a fan of the second diamond’s facet pattern (0.92).
1.09JVVS is still superior, to my eyes.

Agreed, just looking at less risk (so buying within Australia). Do you think the ASET has too much white?

For a radiant cut, I do not believe that it has “too much” white, but I would like to see more red than green.
 
I would compare the ASET of both the 1.09 and 0.92 as soon as you get the ASET of the 1.09.
 
I am probably going to be the dissenting voice here, and say that a J colored radiant is going to be pretty tinted. I have a radiant that I got when I first joined PS and fell in love with round stones, and radiant stone definitely show more color than a super ideal round will. If we were advising you on a super ideal round brilliant from one of the vendors here, I would have no problem telling you to buy a J colored stone. However, I would not go any lower than H for a radiant if I were you especially since you live in Australia and that makes returns more difficult.

Thanks for your honesty, appreciate it and confirms my doubts.

I think I kind of fell in love with that diamond but the J colour is a big concern for me and why I've started looking at Australian sellers again. They are more expensive and have less online choice (reason I looked at sites like JA, they're hard to beat) but the fact that returns are so much easier, makes it worth spending time on. I have the details and video of this diamond to go by and hope to find a similar one with a better colour. As buying within Australia doesn't have a time frame like buying within US does, it sort of gives me peace of mind.

I have looked for similar diamonds but it looks like it's one of a kind :love:

The ASET looks good, but the J color still concerns me. Like your jeweler said, it’s hard to say if the color will bother you unless you see it in person. Looks like you need to order it; hopefully the return process isn’t too difficult for you if you need to return it.

"Seeing" color is not the same as "bothered by" color.

What if this stone has an "antique lace" tint (warm white) but is one of the brightest, most lively, well-cut radiant stones around? Far better (in my opinion) than a cold white stone that has no sparkle or life.

I can't wait to see pics and hear what you think when you see it!!
